Actor Robin Williams was found dead from an apparent suicide in his Tiburon, California home earlier today. He was 63. From the Marin County Sheriff's Department: On August 11, 2014, at approximately 11:55 am, Marin County Communications received a 9-1-1 telephone call reporting a male adult had been located unconscious and not breathing inside his residence in unincorporated Tiburon, CA. The Sheriff's Office, as well as the Tiburon Fire Department and Southern Marin Fire Protection District were dispatched to the incident with emergency personnel arriving on scene at 12:00 pm. The male subject, pronounced deceased at 12:02 pm has been identified as Robin McLaurin Williams, a 63 year old resident of unincorporated Tiburon, CA. An investigation into the cause, manner, and circumstances of the death is currently underway by the Investigations and Coroner Divisions of the Sheriff's Office. Preliminary information developed during the investigation indicates Mr. Williams was last seen alive at his residence, where he resides with his wife, at approximately 10:00 pm on August 10, 2014. Mr. Williams was located this morning shortly before the 9-1-1 call was placed to Marin County Communications. At this time, the Sheriff's Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made. A forensic examination is currently scheduled for August 12, 2014 with subsequent toxicology testing to be conducted. Williams's publicist released a statement this afternoon confirming the actor's death: "Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time." His wife, Susan Schneider, also confirmed the news: "This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions." |

When will we as a society finally start treating mental illness like a broken ankle? We have to stop eating up the people who bring immeasurable joy and reflection to our lives. A brilliant comedian and actor. RIP. |

This notice is heartbreaking. What a bad time he should have if he does commit suicide. And what a strong person, according to people who know him well, he was. Laughing and making people laugh in the worst time of his life. Like Wizard says: A brilliant comedian and actor. R.I.P. If I were a guitar player and vocalist I would dedicate to him Dust In The Wind of Kansas. |

Horrible, I have no other words for it. And only yesterday, I had to attend the funeral of a 22-year old friend who died of a self-inflicted accident. This is not a nice week...:-( |

The funniest people are sometimes the saddest. Also, many highly intelligent people suffer from depression. |

no real words to do justice - to either the talent of the man himself, or the sadness of the situation. Truly one of a kind, a genius. And as well as the many great moments he's given us, my own personal favourite - his serious role in "What Dreams May Come" crying shame truly. |
Stelios 12.08.2014 15:27 |
brENsKi if i stand correct you have mentioned you had to deal with personal losses.Same goes for me. "What Dreams May Come" had been a shot in the arm in very hard times 10 years ago. These days I can't believe that there was another round waiting for me, especially so soon..but i guess nobody thinks there will be... However, I suggest anyone who want a deep inside on depression, suicide, grief and perhaps hope, to take the time and watch this magnificent and deeply touching film, staring the great talent and human that Robin Williams was. |

As much as we should prevent people suffering through what he suffered we should do what his wife asked of us to remember his life and career |

Robin William had early stage Parkinson's disease (at age 63) on top of a lifetime struggling with substance abuse and severe depression. link |

Robin Williams was also paying massive amounts of alimony from two failed marriages, while only performing bit roles in movies (voicing a talking dog and voicing Teddy Roosevelt). |

link .................... Still, while he continued to work regularly, Williams no longer pulled in the big paydays he had in his earlier career and, with tens of millions of dollars in divorce settlements from his first two marriages to contend with, he found himself facing growing money problems. In hopes of shoring up his finances and recapturing some of the old "Mork & Mindy" magic, he returned to television last fall with a highly touted starring role in the comedy "The Crazy Ones." CBS had high hopes for the show, on which Williams played an over-the-top Chicago ad man opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar. The gig also provided a steady paycheck — a reported $165,000 per episode — which he candidly admitted he needed. "I have two [other] choices: Go on the road doing stand-up, or do small, independent movies working almost for scale," Williams told Parade magazine in 2013. "There are bills to pay." To raise cash, Williams also decided to part with a 640-acre ranch in Napa he had owned for more than a decade, a spread he called Villa Sorriso, or "Villa of Smiles," which was listed this spring for $29.9 million. "I just can't afford it anymore," Williams told Parade, adding, "Divorce is expensive.... It's ripping your heart out through your wallet." |

Damn thats sad you would think he would get high profile high paying roles being the massive star he was |

I finally found this little thing below, which had 15 seconds starting at 3:57 included on a CBS recap. A laugh aloud spittake. link Something not mentioned much. In the past year, he's diagnosed with Parkinsons. He also loses his favorite audience, mentor, and one person who understood him and that made HIM laugh. Two immensely crushing blows. Until this week, I didn't know he was Christopher Reeves' roommate at Julliard, as well as providing a lot of financial assistance after his accident. |
MadTheSwine73 18.08.2014 09:56 |
link As soon as I saw this, it became my favourite Robin Williams clip. Although not as funny as others, I'll admit, it has that "personal" thing to it that makes it my favourite. It was super shocking to hear about his death, though. Rest in peace. |

Even as a proud Canadian I found that hilarious. That entire Live On Broadway show just brilliant. His comments on Germans (where are all the funny Germans? You killed them all) are similar. I'm still not sure how I ultimately feel about him perpetuating poor stereotypes like this. I'm sure he was smart enough to know that regardless of a comedy skit, people will either be dumb enough to drink the kool aid or smart enough to know the difference between stereotype and truth. No comedian is going to cure American xenophobia, so why not just unite them make them laugh? That got me thinking. Can anyone find a non-American comedian who uses cultural stereotypes in their A material? Besides Russell Peters, of course.. |

Russell Peters is the king of cultural humour! I have heard a couple others, but frankly they were pretty boring. Gabriel Iglesias (Fluffy) does a bit, but he mainly sticks with Hispanic stereotypes, or Hispanics as viewed by Americans. |
