For me, the only memorable thing from that concert is Rogers drumming during the impromptu. The good stuff starting around the two minute mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC205TrXwms (how do I make these links clickable?) |

Cheers mate. On a side note: Freddies falsetto seems to be in unusually bad shape here, it has a hoarse sound to it and he never goes above Eb5. |

Freddie introducing Another one bites the dust. "This next song calls for a boogie. It means i through my CUNT around the stage even more than i 've done." Is it me or he took it to another level, even for his own standards? |

It's a great show, and historic for obvious reasons. But Budapest is a far better performance overall. That said - the sea of hands in Ga Ga must have been a marvelous sight. |

Ahhh! 28 years already, i hope they release this concert before i die. I would love to listen to it. They could add to the release any footage from that day available and a double CD. |

I ve never been a great fun of Budapest. For my point of view Knebworth has more grip as a gig. U can hear how the energy of the band runs in the first 2 songs..c'mon..do u want compare with Budapest ? Under pressure and aOBTD just amazing. Budapest is already an highlight itself because they play to a sell out crowd in eastern europe.. with all the meanings behind. They decide to register the show also because it was much cheap compare to western europe. For me as a performance Mannheim for example is superior My point of view.. |

I was there that day, was just shy of my 16th birthday. We had been to St James the month before, and had been turned down for Wembley tickets, so this was a real bonus. Highlights were the roadie on the top of the stage during Status Quo, a massive bottle fight, which brought out Harvey Goldsmith to call for calm, Big Country were also really good. That other bloke, Belouis Some or something, was absolutely crap. Queen themselves were great, although it was very different to St James, cos I was right at the front then, this time much further back, so a much more muted atmosphere. I remember Freddie saying, even for Queen, this was massive, and a 'Freddie, Freddie' chant when Brian was trying to talk. After the gig, we couldn't find the bus we came on, the car park was massive, but got there eventually, but waited for about 3 hours as the police were searching each bus, as a lad at the front was stabbed. Overall, didn't realise the significance of the gig at the time, who would, otherwise I'd have taken many more photos than I did. |

6 hours to get out after the gig. I was 16 and went with my cousin. A long, hot day and was lucky cos I had already seen the Wembley Saturday Show. Bought a massive Poster which somehow managed to stay uncrushed in the crowd of 120,000. Tragic no real film footage remains although it was the some gig essentially as the Wembley one, with not such good support bands cos Belouis Some was so shit. |

Also lucky enough to get tickets to see the Saturday Wembley show and then for A Night of Summer Magic at Knebworth too – I was a member of the fan club in them days, which always meant getting first dibs on tickets. Memories are really hazy, but do remember the helicopter going overhead which had the band inside, which subsequently produced the shot for the inside cover of Live Magic. I sadly also remember queing up to buy merchandise and was really disappointed when I got to the front and the unbelievably bright yellow magic shorts that I wanted, had sold out – ended up getting the bright yellow magic Hawaiian shirt instead (which I still wear, every now and then for special occasions – to my wife and kids disgust). I also recall thinking how massive the stage seemed, as I had been there a year or so earlier for Deep Purple and this was enormous in comparison and seemed much bigger than the Wembley stage – probably just a few zig zags added either side, but it certainly looked impressive. Happy Days …. and keeping everything crossed that the lads make it over to Europe and the UK for dates later in the year/next year. |

Similar to the South America 81 and South Africa 84 shows. It's hard to quantify it, but I just hear it. But of course, the sheer scope of being in a crowd of that size surely trumps out any (comparatively) minor musical characteristics. Seeing the biggest band in the world at a festival gig is always a phenomenal thing to experience. Unless you're Zeppelin at Knebworth in 1979. |

Thanks for the memories, you have inspired me to re-watch the whole concert again :-) And I too prefer Knebworth, I never truly liked Budapest THAT much, don't really know why |

The Magic tour is probably my least favourite tour - yes, Freddie is in a bit better shape than he was on the Works tour, but I think the Works tour had more atmosphere, better impromptus and better songs. I often end up shutting down the whole concert when Freddie launches into A Kind Of Magic, because listening to it makes my throat hurt. Yet, Knebworth is a bit of an exception for me actually, it has some kind of aura over it. Is it the sheer size of it, or is it the fact that it's Queen's last concert? |

Never really liked AKoM at Wembley really, but in Budapest was superb. Is true Knebworth has a lot of charm, like the great crowd, the good mood and obviously being the last gig. But Budapest has even more charm, imo. It was also a big show, but it really looks intimate in the night, the band was more accurate than in Knebworth and Wembley, and they put an extra effort to win the crowd. And don't forget how different was Hungary back then, the show itself was a historical event. If we can only have one show between Budapest and Knebworth I'll get Budapest as a perfect example of a Magic Tour concert. Now looking to other tours, like Rainbow... and maybe Houston? |
