U.S. Radio & TV personality, best-selling author, and hard rock and heavy metal advocate Eddie Trunk just released a brief podcast interview with Brian May, recorded prior to their New Jersey show with Adam a few weeks ago... He spoke about the "Queen Forever" album saying, in part, that it contained Love Kills, Let Me In (Your Heart Again), and some things with Michael Jackson. |

Marknow 09.08.2014 06:12 |
I'm more excited about the Rainbow '74 release to be honest, so far we have a reworked Love Kills, a Anita Dobson cover and a few tracks with a suspected kidde fiddler. Is there any original work on the album? Sounds very recycled to me, lots of stuff we have already heard just wrapped up in a new bow. |
inu-liger 09.08.2014 06:31 |
"a Anita Dobson cover" How's it a "cover" when her version was recorded a good 4 years after the original Queen version?? That's a pretty unfair statement to make there dude, and I almost NEVER disagree with you elsewhere! |
Marknow 09.08.2014 07:51 |
You are right Inu. But.. :) It's a cover in commercial terms, which came first? The Anita Dobson version. It will probably sound good and of course it will as a Queen track. I am looking at this from a marketing point of view, you always put your best out front in the front window, the best of this album is a reworked Fred track which I like but it's not original work neither is the Dobson track yes I acknowledge Queen recorded it first but again it's recycled stuff we have heard in someway already, Anita used Freddie's vocal track as a guide so it's going to be very similar. If this is the cream of the crop I am prepared for disappointment. I'm not trying to be negative here and I understand I am in the vast minority but I think this album will be a let down. I think old age is making me a bit conservative and I do wonder if they should be reworking tracks just because they have a Freddie vocal track. |

Just listened to Anita Dobson's version of Let Me in Your Heart Again, sounds like a lightweight pastiche of an Abba song with additional "trademark" guitar from Brian May.Freddie would obviously improve it but theres limits. I fear the album will be on the mawkish side. |

I am really looking forward to this release. Queen are working with a brilliant producer in William Orbit, so rather than speculating we should all wait and look forward to the day the album is released. Even Lambert said that Queen had released a beautiful version of Love Kills! |

Are we all absolutely sure that Love Kills on the album will have Freddie's vocals, and hasn't been re-recorded by Lambert?? LMIYHA was a completed track though, not used originally on the works ( if I remember right ) so John would be on it, but he won't be on the Jacko tracks or love kills, probably Brian playing bass, as he's the one whose finished the tracks off. |

I still think this is going to be a hugely disappointing compilation, a lot of people have got really excited, as if it is a brand new album ! With time and care we could have had mih 2, even if Brian & Roger had recorded new tracks themselves, that WOULD have been exciting. But we do have live at the Rainbow which is exciting :-) |

Agree about covering Freddie solo songs, don't like that although a heavy rock version of love kills would sound good. Hate Queen forever, shit name I suspect it will be basically a crap compilation like Absolute Greatest whatever or Greatest Hits 3. Dump Lambert, He was the reason Sonisphere was cancelled in 2012, get back Paul Rodgers or get Marc Martel, Justin Hawkins or Matt Bellamy singing. What's the point of Queen extravaganza if BM and RT still tour as Queen? C-lebrity is exactly what Lambert is!!!! |

I don't get where this idea comes from that sonisphere was cancelled because Q+AL couldn't sell tickets ? It was cancelled because the whole weekend was undersold ! Given the promotion that this N.American tour got, similar promotion in Europe would have the same effect, Q+PR was very poorly promoted. |

If Q+AL were the supposed reason for Sonisphere's cancellation, then tell me why Summer Sonic and Super Sonic are still going on? OH, that's right, they have ticket sales propping it up! People can complain about production, but from a compositional point of view, it was perfect - Queen members know it, and any composer will tell you that. All songs written by Freddie Mercury. Respect! He made an album that puts Queen's "The Game", and "The works" to shame. Obviously he saved the best songs for his solo project, not the rejected ones. |

This new album is sounding like MIH 2, without the excitement of the 3 last Freddie recordings. MIH was mostly old songs reworked and was mostly ballads. much like this album is shaping up to be. I wonder if "forever" from the magic sessions is gonna be on it. The album is gonna be called forever after all. |

I think the production of Mr Bad Guy certainly lacked something. Having a Brian-like guitarist is nowhere near the same as having Brian. And Brian not being their to influence sound might have also been a factor in production, even if that was not necesarily strictly his role. And obviously, as always, it's a matter of taste. But Mr Bad Guy was the source of the posthumous number UK hit Living On My Own, not my favourite I admit! But Made in Heaven and I Was Born to Love You weren't too bad as singles and were fairly successful as I recall and ultimately made it to MIH. So the album has produced some significant hits and is likely to continue to contribute at least one more track to the Queen catalogue. Probably two I would think. Personally I also really like Mr Bad Guy and There Must Be More To Life Than This, the latter which would be a single at some stage with Jacko I would think. And other people have mentioned Man Made Paradise as a possible track. Might be interesting to hear an alternative vocal at the end from Freddie. No doubt he tried lots of different things to get it the way he wanted it. |
k-m 11.08.2014 08:24 |
I must say I lost any excitement I had for this album. I suspect it will be a distillation of "Deep Cuts" trilogy plus a few "new" recordings, mostly reworked versions of stuff we already heard before. My last hope is that Brian is keeping something secret from us and that there will be at least one more proper Queen track on it, not heard before in any shape or form. Otherwise, new version of "Love Kills" seems to be the highlight. I don't want to listen to Anita's take on "Let Me In", but I'm pretty sure we're entering "My Life Has Been Saved" territory here. |

The exciting thing about "Let me in..." for me is if the outro features those vocal adlibs that -some time ago- were presumed to be done by freddie. aaaand if the guitar stays that annoying prominent for that song. i really hope for a GOOD production. we'll see... |
