Will it be possible for a release of the earls court gigs in the future? Considering the rainbow release seems to be in pretty good quality with all that remastering. Wonder if they could do the same with earls court 77. |
Doga 02.08.2014 13:02 |
Who knows. At this moment chances are low. The video we all can see from Earl's Court is from the screen feed, which means a lot of bad angles, making that video unreleaseable for the mainstream market. But who could had tell a year before we will have the march show of the Rainbow and a Bluray of november? We should enjoy Rainbow for the moment and wait. Welcome to QZ! |

With two nights of Earls Court footage and audio available, there is no doubt that there is enough material to create a package similar to the Rainbow one. Whether or not they actually do it is another question.. |

Indeed, with all that material they could do something incredible. If they aren't happy with the minor sound problems (which is quite understandable) they could overdub one night with the other. |

Well we will have to wait and see |

With QP and Queen's stuff EVERYTHING is possible ( in a good and a bad point of view) |

I hope they release it because I'm tired of the concerts from the mustache era. They should also release an Innuendo Box with interviews, making of and behind the scenes. |

Possible and probable are 2 massively different things. For one the answer is 'of course', for the other the answer is 'probably not'. |

If sales go well on Rainbow - I would say the likelihood of issuing Earls Court in the *near* future would increase significantly (given that it would confirm that Queen has regained their popularity due to that release and the current tour). They would want to push out as many products during that fertile period as possible so as to capitalize on their increase in market share. |

All of those mid 70's shows should be released. Hammersmith was lined up, and being worked on a few years back. I wonder what stopped it. I had thought it may have been the fact they changed record label, and Universal didn't want to release something that EMI had been involved with. Or that the Rainbow was a more complete recording. Maybe a Hammersmith and Hyde Park collection as the set at both shows was shorter than usual I'm pretty sure Earls Court would make a great package. |

People from all over the world are always self-conscious about their English skills, while most people who speak English as a first language can't even speak it properly. Respect to anyone who takes on a second language. |

I've posted on here many times about my meeting with Jim Beach at his son's gig (supporting The Feeling) a couple of years ago. He stated emphatically that Earl's Court will never be released. |

We just may have to wait a while. |

The story about Mercury's piano mic not being recorded properly just aren't true. A ton of tapes were returned to the band by EMI in 2010, and this may well be one of them. |

As long as it's not the superdry mix from the bootleg videos, then hell yes. The live version of '39 (bonus track ADATR 2011 remaster), however, sounds like the real deal (from the multi-track?) |

I always thought a cleaned up and properly mixed version of Rio was coming sometime after 1995 after they fully remixed 'Rock In Rio Blues' for a b side single release, but it seems not. Why else would they go to the effort of pulling out the master tapes, picking an obscure instrumental filler track, and then fully remixing it to add as a 'teaser' on a single? The mix on that was SO much better than the new Rio live mix of 'It's A Hard Life' live on The Works remaster in 2011 too. |

Anything emanating from the Queen camp - and Jim Beach and Brian May in particular with special regard to content and timelines for future releases - should always be taken with a huge pillar of salt!! |
splicksplack 08.08.2014 08:59 |
I take on board the points made above Just to clarify, he said it would never be released in its entirety but would probably have the odd song contributed to a sort of 'best of live' thing. |

It's all about rights to them I presume? Jim and the band certainly pulled off a masterstroke of business when they left EMI for Universal shortly before the takeover for a (reportedly) big fat slice of cash didn't they; I'm guessing if they'd stayed put and re-signed to EMI, then if there was any extra amount Universal would have had to pay EMI to account for the inclusion of Queen on their artist roster, it would have been substantially less than they paid Queen for their individual deal? |
