I know that intelligent responses were requested, but I can not help myself.
Here is my stupid question:
If you have a computer, do you really need X-Box, GameCube, PlayStation (etc...) when so many PC games are available???
My seven year old son had asked for one of these game systems (can't remember which one), but I told him he did not need it when we had a PC (and I got him a rumblepad gamepad/joystick instead - plus other stuff from the money saved).
Thanks in advance for taking into consideration that I am old and pathetic when you provide your gentle constructive criticism.

There are games that are exclusive to console systems (i.e. Nintendo's "Mario" games). And for people like me who don't like many P.C. exclusive games (i.e. "Warcraft"), A console gaming unit is the only way to go! :D

Didn't see anyone on this thread saying such thing... but if you say so.
The main advantage of a console over a pc? The ability to play games with your tv, which should be larger than your computer monitor. I have never understood why someone would want to play a game, or dvd, on a computer when it would look much better on a tv.
So if I get a larger monitor? ... No problema? oh wait, monitors cost more money. But does not better screen resolution of PC monitor help? and of course one sits closer to a PC than a TV ... so size is not everything???
Remember I asked for gentleness, but of course I do not deserve it.
