Ordering something is one thing, getting it is another. If this is genuinely from Amazon Canada then you will be okay but don't forget to check if you will have to pay customs duty for a delivery to your country. |
MAYniac91 09.07.2014 08:53 |
Seems to me that the big release inludes the 4 LP vinyls... this one here is not. So it is the small deluxe box without the vinyls, so I don't know what a good deal is for that release. |

Vinyls are not included. Sorry! |

In the UK we have to pay duty on any item arriving (which isn't marked as "gift") which is worth more than (iirc) £36. The super deluxe boxset is also on No. 1 in the Music Bestsellers list of Amazon.ca. The LP box is No. 2. CD is No. 9. How surprising.... link You'd almost wonder - would this be deliberate? A low price in Canada so more people will order it there, so the box will hit the top of the charts? |

Still, this big a difference in price for the same product on different versions of Amazon is surprising. I've seen subtle differences in price for media products, but differences like this I've only ever seen for outdoor stuff and edged weapons, which for some reason are considerably cheaper in the US than the rest of the world. |
DrumBrother 10.07.2014 05:52 |
When I went ahead with the order the delivery cost to Ireland was €27 so to hell with that, no thanks. Price hike over night and that delivery charge is just too much. |

It's price discrimination! Most people will simply pay the price on their local Amazon. Only people that have a bit more nouse will keep searching and find the lower price on Canadian Amazon. I remember I bought the Freddie 10 CD collection there and it was heaps cheaper! And then I got The Lot from there too! |

I just ordered the Deluxe Box and 2LP, standard international delivery (to Ireland) was only CDN$ 9.47. There will probably be no import charges as such, but I'm expecting to pay the standard rate of VAT at some point - an extra 23% in my case. |
thomasquinn 32989 11.07.2014 04:58 |
That's the assumption I always make too - it's a pretty safe bet that way. But I've never had to pay import charges on anything from Amazon yet. Price-wise, this item is just in the grey area for import duties for my country - it all depends on the exchange rate at the moment of shipping and on whether or not they count the actual charge, charge + shipping or if they just make something up (that happened to me once with an effects pedal). |

Did anyone notice that at amazon.ca the description states 'Live at the Rainbow '74 (Super Deluxe Box Set) [CD + DVD + Blu-ray + Book]', but the listing later on describes only 3 discs? link Could it be that this Super Deluxe Box Set is different to the one described e.g. at queenonline (2 CDs, 1 DVD, 1 Blu-ray) and may contain only 1 CD and 1 DVD (plus book)? This could explain the low price... |
thomasquinn 32989 12.07.2014 08:15 |
Nope, that's just wrong. If you look at the listing, you can clearly see that the contents of "disc 3" are the bonus videos to the DVD/BluRay. So it's just a listing error. The image is clearly of the regular set, showing four discs. They're not going to make a light version simply for Amazon.ca. |
Lord Fickle 12.07.2014 15:32 |
Has anyone considered the fact that, going back a few years, Region 1 DVDs from Canada used to often come with bi-lingual (English + French) packaging? Does anyone know if they still do this, and what the likelyhood is of this box set coming with French plastered all over it? |
thomasquinn 32989 12.07.2014 16:00 |
It's unlikely that it'd be a region 1 to begin with, considering that QOL lists it as region 0, like all their other releases. |
SkyeTV 12.07.2014 16:49 |
I missed the boat on the original price but ordered it earlier today and the total is about £44 to include shipping. So why are QOL allowed to price up at £100 and £115 when other sites are doing it far more cheaply? Even IF customs get their hands on the parcels, it'll still be cheaper by the looks of things. There's even ebay sellers doing it at £69. And there was me thinking that it would be much cheaper to order 'direct'. They don't want to make profits in this country, they just want to make a killing. |
ggo1 12.07.2014 19:55 |
Living in Canada and regularly buying CD's, blu ray or books from whichever amazon is cheaper I'm not actually surprised at this. I had it on order at amazon.com for $72 at first because it didn't show up on amazon.ca until a couple of weeks later but switched the order as soon as it showed up. $54 plus free shipping was far too good a deal. I should warn anyone buying from .ca that you may wait a while before you get it though. I have found new import CDs and DVDs have a habit of being delayed by a couple of weeks. No guarantee that will happen with this but if it does there's not much point in complaining because they just don't get the stock at the same time as the uk or us. Remember even if it a us release it is an import to Canada |

We're still trying to obtain the following item[s] you ordered on July 13, 2014: Queen "Live at the Rainbow '74 (Super Deluxe Box Set) [CD + DVD + Blu-ray + Book]" Still want it? We'll keep on trying. You'll still be able to cancel at any time before we ship it. If you want to cancel the item now, please click the link below.
