That 0:38 Freddie moment from One Year Of Love may be his most Over The Top vocal line through his "studio career".
It stands out, big time, from an altogether oversung song, according to many.
So how is that LoooOOOVE momemt in your ears
powerfull
or
tasteless?
princetom's answer:
i think cocaine is the answer.
although i kind of like this song -despite of many others in this forum- i think this very ballad is quite unique for being somewhat oversung.... but on the other hand... it's queen. take it or leave it.
i would LOVE to hear the studio bit of the piano version...
*waaah*. yes. yes. *lol*
what i meant to say is that FM probably sniffed too much of that stuff during the recording of that very song. as he used to... from time to time... in the 80s.
it's unnecessarily oversung for sure. and i blame the possible use of drugs.
(looking forward to your throat-spray, btw. :-)
You all seem to focus on the entire song. I dont blame you cos its all over the top.
But the post is for the 0:38 LOOOooove moment. Its beyond falsetto. Its almost like he goes crazy in that line.
He goes crazy in various times in his repertoire but in this one is a bit like "instant hysteria" and stands out from the orchestration big time.
The oversung thing of One Year Of Love has been dissused.
So try to focus on that "special" moment please.

I'm no sure that's too over the top is it? Compared to say the ball shrivelling singing on Cool Cat for example.
Cool Cat is just falsetto, perhaps with the Freddie edge. At lest to my ears.
The moment i am after is either a nice crescendo or an out of context needles "surprise".
