Wow...........I really wish I had posted it, but a few days ago I tried coming up with a setlist.........I actually pretty much nailed it!! I did have em doing Now I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy, and In The Lap of the Gods revisited!! Well, the order was a little different, and I had them doing Liar (wishful thinking!) and Dragon Attack (suprised they dropped that)............
Sounds like an awesome show! (Who's got the audio in flac? lol) Looking forward to July 12th in Auburn Hills...........
I am still in kind of a "glam haze" after last night. It was amazing, blew everyone away, stunning, over the top, fun, and really well performed by ALL. (Tech difficulties were a momentary distraction, nothing more)
King Of Rhye, I too was surprised they dropped Dragon Attack, but if I'm bluntly honest, I wasn't all that thrilled with the plodding tempo of their recent stabs at it. It used to crackle with a bit more life "back in the day" perhaps they previously held to a faster tempo. And I'll be eager to compare notes about the Auburn Hills show later... I'll be headed there for that one as well. But I too was praying that I'd get to hear Liar live (in person) some day. It's starting to look like that won't happen.
I had HOPED they'd play Don't Stop Me Now, since they did that one at the LA preview... that was perhaps the one I was sorry didn't make it into the set. I thought for sure there'd be two encores, but there was just the one.
But am I disappointed? IN. NO. WAY. :-) I'm still "high" from the feeling.
Everything flowed very well. I really wished that they would have played I Want To Break Free. It's one of the hits that I didn't want them to drop. I suppose it just isn't very popular here. Also hoping for Don't Stop Me Now somewhere. In terms of deeper things, I thought they would play liar or maybe Keep Yourself Alive. Before Love of My Life Brian played a few notes of Is This The World We Created, very briefly. I really thought he was gonna play it. Also interestingly, they cut the entire second verse of Radio Ga Ga.
Other notes that I can think of: Brian really dragged out the Fat Bottomed Girls solo, the audience didn't participate very well with Love of My Life, and they kept a very good and quick pace with Stone Cold Crazy. Roger did drums on every song except for These are the days of our lives, which was the drum recording like in the Paul Rodgers shows, and Tie Your Mother Down, when Rufus took over. They also never introduced anyone at all from the band. I think Brian and Adam mentioned each other, but that's about it. Neil stood in the shadows the entire time, while Rufus had a more active but quiet role. Minor mic malfunction during Now I'm Here, but it was resolved in seconds.
Overall, this being the first time I've seen them, I was very impressed. I thought that Adam did very well. And I feel like in terms of setlist that they're taking a step in the right direction.
