Here is the official trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=5bQlyDygns8 Mmm i'm not sure about the sound quality, too much snare drum maybe?. Users like Pittrek or Bob (Real Wizard) could give us their points of view about that. But anyway this is the BEST queen related release in 20+ Years. I'm very very happy. Thanks QP! What do you think? |
rocknrolllover 18.06.2014 13:26 |
I'm happyyyyyyyyy |
Rick 18.06.2014 13:32 |
Sound is great, love the drums. But those extra vocals...why? |
The Real Wizard 18.06.2014 13:53 |
Audio and visual are simply fantastic. Vocal overdubs - yup. They're perfectionists and clearly that's the way they want it. Few live albums don't have them. If you want the real deal, stick to audience tapes. But the quality won't be like this. September can't come fast enough. |
Pim Derks 18.06.2014 13:54 |
So it wasn't just me who spotted the overdubs in Now I'm Here... :( |
mooghead 18.06.2014 13:55 |
Hmmm... you know what I said about tinkering with the sound? Its like watching a Bruce Lee dubbed movie.... |
Rick 18.06.2014 13:57 |
Well, GVH1 has Now I'm Here without vocal overdubs... link |
Rick 18.06.2014 14:00 |
On second thought, the extra vocals are still present, but way lower in the mix. Strange, I always thought that was the real deal :D |
pittrek 18.06.2014 14:24 |
SOME of the overdubs are on Now I'm Here, but I have feeling it's less than I remember from the VHS tape. Killer Queen sounds more "live", on the VHS it sounds very similar to the album version (which it probably is). Also why is there no March footage in the trailer is weird |
DepeX 18.06.2014 14:30 |
The same thing I thought, Pittrek.. But I'm sure the quality will be anyway very good |
rocknrolllover 18.06.2014 14:40 |

ANAGRAMER 18.06.2014 14:49 |
Hmmm. Not my favourite Queen period. Forgive me but the sound like a clatter; everything on full, sounds like a loudness war Will maybe pass on this purchase.... |
MadTheSwine73 18.06.2014 14:53 |
I was hoping to hear a bit of the live "Master-Stoke" audio, but I guess they're keeping that for September! |
Bad Seed 18.06.2014 15:16 |
I mentioned here some time ago that I'd be surprised if this were to be released without overdubs. At the SSIS exhibition a few years back you could watch the full show with the dry soundboard audio, the vocals were quite awful. Anyone who heard that would probably understand why they've decided to keep a lot of them. |

MERQRY 18.06.2014 16:56 |
What a difference between to listen it from a cheap notebook speaker and listen it with my modest good pc audio speakers. Yeah the audio is very very good. And yeah there's overdubs (not many by the way). September, i'm looking foward to it. I'd wish this is a SOLD-OUT dvd, so QP release one or two 70's gig more. I guess Hamm 75/79 are the best choise. But hey, at the moment this release will keep me happy for a couple years. |
Doga 18.06.2014 17:36 |
Now i won't enjoy my summer, wanting September to come. the quality is really gorgeous. |
Hangman_96 18.06.2014 18:32 |
Indeed, there are still some overdubs left but not as many as there used to be, and not as audible. Great, great video! |
Supersonic_Man89 18.06.2014 19:21 |
When people say vocal overdubs, i don't understand. How can the record new vocals for the live recordings? Or do people mean mixing the two nights performances? Or do people mean editing the vocals digitally? Not trying to be funny, genuinely don't know how they can do this with a Queen recording from 1974 that they've just decided to release now? |

It is done so we all can enjoy a flawless performance. Funny thing many people cant hear when a guitar is out of tune or a singer cant reach a certain note unless its pretty pretty obvious ! |
Cruella de Vil 18.06.2014 22:50 |
Interestingly enough, one gets the impression that the addition of extra vocals was planned before the concert took place. Just notice how Brian and Deacy are on mic when the "Just a new man..."bit kicks in. Now I'm sure that most of us can pull out any number of bootlegs where it is the rarest of occasions where maybe Brian joins in; not even Roger does. Anyway, with the quality of vision and sound that is hinted at here, who gives a Fairy Fella's Master Stroke! I can't wait! |

While watching trailer it's seemed to me that audio "now I'm here" taken from Hammy'75, "Keep yourself alive" hammy'75, "seven seas of rhye" taken from hammy'75 or live at the rainbow 31.03.1974. I'll be happy if I'm wrong. |
jondickens1 19.06.2014 00:40 |
Ok, so there are a few overdubs. But, in this case I think, I'm, they actually enhance the feel of the show. The energy of the live performance plus a few overdubs make these recordings sound better than the album versions, which given those God awful drum sounds on Queen 1 surely is a blessing. This is an awesome release. Let's not nit pick here, we should be grateful that this is finally being released and appreciate all the hard work that has obviously gone into this. |
queenuruguay 19.06.2014 00:58 |
Hope the next release will be the long awaited Hyde Park show. and after that Hammy 79. In the meantime I hope september comes soon. and also hope that the release will be simultaneous all around the globe including Argentina. |

I do know it's a technology thing; the mikes and off board effects maybe just weren't that good in 1974 |

But in the case of most live albums they just replace certain things with bits either from another night or from a studio session from the time period. In the case of the Queen Rainbow material, considering the Sheetkeeckers bootleg came out in 1975 with the exact same vocal overdubs, we can reasonably date when such overdubbing took place.. I'm mainly talking about backing vocals. Some of Freddie's lead vocals may end up being overdubbed too, but unless we hear uncut tapes we'll never know.. However, there's one spot in Liar where two lead vocals overlap on the bootleg. It'll be interesting to see what happens on the official release.. link |

"It is done so we all can enjoy a flawless performance" Which makes it a patchwork of lots of different things and not a true representation of what the gig actually sounded like. I know all bands have been doing it for years but I would get so much more out of hearing the little imperfections. It just bugs me. |
