So.... Love Kills was undoubtably a highlight from the iHeart show. And now Brian has said on his website that it'd sound good as a duet between Adam and Freddie, with a 'wait and see ' after it. So does that mean it'll be on the new album? What are people's thoughts on the possible duet? |
Costa86 17.06.2014 09:56 |
I find it about as exciting as accidentally getting water all over my shirt while washing my hands. |
noorie 17.06.2014 10:36 |
Well, that will certainly 'kill' my 'love' for the album! |
pittrek 17.06.2014 10:44 |
The only GOOD version of Love Kills is the rock remix from Freddie's box set |

It may be better than we think, keeping an open mind. |

Mmm....we know Freddie's vocal exists in full so I'd rather stick with that; not against them recording with AL, but outside any sole Queen release please. Hopefully it may only be that they have it as a duet on the tour, like Bo Rhap had Rodgers sharing vocals with Freddie |
FreddieCat 17.06.2014 11:25 |
AL did a great job on the song. B&R were no doubt very emotional which may drive the decision. Sorry, but it's Freddie alone for me, with or without the disco. link |
scottmax 17.06.2014 11:59 |
I think it's inevitable that Lambert will be on at least one song on the album |
Mr. Bed Guy 17.06.2014 12:26 |
No one, except a few AL fans running around in this forum, really wants anything AL& Queen related to be released. |
kosimodo 17.06.2014 12:44 |
I am with Pittrek: the fantastic rock version from His box is GOOD, but... It was and is easy to choose that rockversion as basis for a evt Queen version. For me Love Kills did get a slow Hammer to Fall feeling. Luckely without what was his name:) |

I'd like to see a Queen version with Freddie, not Adam..tapes existed with full vocals..just a few arrangements, guitars and drums..also... Brian told they recorded a song with Freddie which was from 82-85 era..so fingers crossed.. |
mooghead 17.06.2014 13:28 |
If those old geriatrics do anything along the lines of a AL+Freddie shared vocal track I swear on my son's life I will take every Queen product I own, pour petrol over the fucking stuff and set fire to it. I will put it on Youtube for you all to see. |
99jaystang 17.06.2014 13:32 |
Adam's version sounded like a James Bond movie theme. I wonder if Freddie vocals would match the tempo of the version they did last night. But I guess you can do anything with Pro tools these days. |
noorie 17.06.2014 13:49 |
I just listened to both Freddie's and Adam's versions of Love Kills, and it is Freddie all the way! There is just something that attracts you to this man's voice. And it is not about pitch and high notes or anything technical. His voice is just magnetic! |
scottmax 17.06.2014 13:52 |

I think it was a brave choice. Completely left field revealed an excellent song which, for too many years was overlooked and one of Freddie's 80s moments Perhaps they could look again at Hot Space and find a few more unpolished gems |
guil1980 17.06.2014 15:00 |
Ok, I know it's my first post. But, Brian wrote : both Freddie and Adam kill on this song ! ( wait and see !!) Which does not mean at all a duet, but more (to me) that Freddie kills on this song and also Adam, while doing it live. Nothing about a duet. |
Holly2003 17.06.2014 15:17 |
Brian's solo is dull as dishwater. Lambert .... is better than I expected on this song. The arrangement is really interesting. Then again, I liked Dappy's version of WWRY so WTF do I know. |
andyb1968 17.06.2014 15:57 |
No duet on the album, its just Fred. |
scottmax 17.06.2014 16:34 |
^^^^^^ insider information ? Any other pearls if wisdom? |
A Word In Your Ear 17.06.2014 18:50 |
Brian's "Wait & See" could be refering to the Tour Version of "Love Kills". Could be like what they did for "Bo Rhap" & "Bijou"...Freddie on the big Screen???? |
Day dop 17.06.2014 22:09 |
They'll be yet ANOTHER version of Love Kills on the new album? Well, same Freddie vocals, but a different backing? Wow. How brilliant is that? No... really. |
winterspelt 18.06.2014 00:20 |
It could be a nice thing to have another Love Kills version, as long as it is Freddie's vocals on different tempo or the same vocals with a different music and overall "different mood on the same vocal take" like MIH. As for Adam's version, I really loved it, really! But I wouldnt not want a Freddie/Adam duet on a Queen album or an Adam version unless it appears under the Queen+ moniker. Just my two cents. |
FlorianS 18.06.2014 00:59 |
I finally got a Chance to watch this. Lambert does a goods Job, but Overall it is not a Highlight to me. Would be nice to have a new Queen Version, but it is not a great Addition to the set list. To me it was a bit boring. I was waiting for the 'rock' to start all the time. |
spookymizu 18.06.2014 09:18 |
The iHeart version brought me to tears. Not sure why....I mean, I thought it sounded lovely. Lambert did a great job with it. I think I was just touched that they would even choose Love Kills....it's not like it was a well-known hit for Freddie. I was pleasantly surprised and quite moved by it. I'm enjoying the Queen/Lambert teaming, and look forward to hearing more of them. Anything to hear more of Brian and Roger is worth it to me. Spooky Mizu |

I thought it was pointless. It just dragged. The origin single is all I need. While the rock version is OK I just find the added crowd noise irritating. |

scottmax wrote: Some people are frightened of change I reckonWell you're barking up the wrong tree there. I completely embraced Hot Space when it came out. Moved from the Jam to the Style Council with no problem. Moved from rock in the 70's to dance music at the end of the 80's, and on and on.... My point is I can take it that Freddie is no longer there and will happily go along with something new and worthwhile. But this version of Love Kills is fucking bilge. The essence of the original has been replaced by a dirge. It adds nothing to the song and is utterly pointless. |

^ I'm actually EXPECTING to hear WHITE QUEEN on this tour. No insider information. Just a gut feeling... If not then I'll know not to trust my guts again. Id expect a little nugget here and there depending on the venue. As for love kills. Oddly enough it was the only song Adam Lambert sounded like he was remotely interested in. The rest was lackluster like he phoned em all in. Conversely, the band sounded FANTASTIC excluding the love kills solo. It was very dull. Maybe if he maxed a vibrato pedal or used an e bow. Eh. .. I was expecting something flavorful, expecting it to go somewhere. ... you know like a Brian May solo or something (Brian May was the guitarist for Queen) |

From a Rolling Stone article: "One of the rare song they've resurrected for the tour is "Love Kills," a 1984 Freddie Mercury solo track made with Giorgio Moroder for a restored version of the 1927 silent film Metropolis. "It was a disco record that Freddie did as a side project," says Lambert. "One of the things that Queen is doing this year is they've dusted off some older recordings, and they're remastering and reworking them for an album of newer versions of things. With 'Love Kills,' they took out all the disco production and turned it into more of a traditional Queen arrangement. It's an amazing song, very dramatic and powerful with a beautiful melody. We've been having a lot of fun playing it live."" link |
