Queen name album with Freddie tracks Queen have named the upcoming compilation album that includes previously unreleased material by late frontman Freddie Mercury. It's set to feature duets with David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Andy Gibb and Michael Jackson – and guitarist Brian May says it's due for release towards the end of the year. He tells the BBC: "We found a few more tracks with Freddie singing and all of us playing, and they're quite beautiful. "It's probably called Queen Forever, and it's a compilation – but it will have this new material, which nobody in the world has ever heard. I think people will really enjoy it." He says most of the unheard tracks were laid down in the 1980s "when we were in full flight," adding: "It's quite emotional. It's the big, big ballads and the big epic sound." And he admits it was a challenging production job. "We had to start from scratch because we only had scraps. But I can sit there and make it happen with modern technology – you can do almost anything with Pro Tools." Queen have confirmed a series of US shows with Adam Lambert next month. May recently denied the band was still active for financial reasons – while drummer Roger Taylor said Mercury would have approved of their choice of frontman. |

"you can do almost anything with Pro Tools" This is what I hate. You can literally make shit up, words and music, that has never actually existed before.. You can make a thousand albums with Freddie's voice if you have the technology and the know how..... |

duets, hmm..........David Bowie......Cool Cat? That's about the only thing that could be, unless there's an alternate version of UP we haven't heard of.......... Rod Stewart? Now thats interesting............the 83 version of Let Me Live with Jeff Beck?? Andy Gibb would be Play The Game........... |

Great news about the new Queen album. This is surely better than any adam lambert /Queen gig, and i do not care what roger said about freddie approving adam lambert for front man, as it does not wash, he is inferior to Freddie. How will the new Queen album feature bass, because john Deacon has retired, i hope they have not used a session man, because then it would not be a true Queen album? |

I think it'll be a combination of both John (archive) and Brian (new supplement parts) if there aren't enough John parts to cover the song. Brian did specifically say all 4 of them were on the songs. |

You're crazier than usual if you think I'm not buying the album, but I'm not buying it through a medium that promotes selling music in lossy garbage form. CD's and vinyl all the way for me. |

Yes of course i will be buying the new Queen album. The last time i purchased a new Queen album was when the cd Queen on fire was released, and i have ignored all releases from Queen/Paul Rodgers etc...... This new album is a special occasion for the Queen community and in my opinion long overdue. Brian said there was only scraps left, well there is loads of un-released Queen tracks on the free download sites that Queen could have worked on, songs like " i guess were falling out" being a seedling track from "its a hard life" "robbery" and "take my life" to name but a few. Queen have the goods but as we know Brian is stubborn as a goat at times. |

Just as well I could say that I'm just download without spending a dime. But I'll buy. |

Any FLAC download would be an illegal rip of the cd, so that kinda defeats your own point. As usual, I'd add. |

New album coming and no Jacko! I'm definitely cool with that! :-) And Brian mainly responsible for doing t makes me confident it's gonna be good, if not great. Made in Heaven is our only posthumous album to date and I was pretty nuts about that one! |

Heavenite 29.05.2014 09:01 |
No, but the last interview I read with Brian didn't mention Jacko and the interviewer pointed that out instead of simply asking Brian if the Jacko stuff was still going ahead. So basically I think that sort of interview is basically a mouthpiece for the Queen publicity machine and basically initally floated the idea that the Jacko tracks would no longer be included. I mean with all the stuff still going down with the Jacko estate and the movie not being ready this year now, I reckon they've decided it's a no go zone at the moment. So maybe they've decided to go ahead with the release anyway. And from what Brian has now said, there could be a bunch of releases using Pro Tools, which was what I and some others had suspected all along anyway. And Brian and Roger (not to mention the rest of us!) aren't still going to be around unless they get on with releasing whatever's left! |
gerry 29.05.2014 12:42 |
Believe me there is heaps of unreleased Queen tracks, but brian being brian is just stubborn to work on them all! Freddie said in 1989 to mike read that Queen had lots of left over tracks, but they decided to work on a select few, for the Miracle album but the rest was still running around somewhere! The michael / freddie tracks are on the new Queen album because that is what got this project off the ground in the first place. |
