I'm glad he's worked something out. (Probably an advance on purple rain 30th anniversary with contingency for a few more. ..)
Personally I love the guys music. I think his version of the NPG peaked on the diamonds and pearls and love sign era.
Then he resurfaced with EXCELLENT musicians on the rainbow children/hit n run Tour. ..
I'd love to finally hear the alternate extended mixes and hopefully some rejected tunes. ... IN THEIR ORIGINAL FORM. .. (*as a Jehovah's Witness he's stopped cursing)
I met a girl named nikki I guess you could say she was a BAD fiend
I met her in a hotel lobby reading better house hold magazines.
^for instance
If Sharon/ozzy Osbourne could remove Lee kerslake Bob Daisley and the other guy Don Airey then anything is possible
I've had tons of his unreleased stuff for years but I'm certain there's hundreds of unreleased potentially great stuff.
A big for instance is the great "compilation" of unreleased stuff OLD FRIENDS 4 SALE. ... the musicianship on that album is just incredible.

Obviously you don't know the depth of the guys catalogue and have never been to one of his concerts.
Of the last ten albums he's done, I can only say Rave In2 the joy fantastic, and lotusflow3r were lackluster.
20ten doesn't count since it was basically an e.p.
At the VERY least. .. he's a motherfucker of a guitarist. You'll just never see it unless you see it live.
I've seen his movie. It sucked shit! The best thing about him is the Dave Chappelle impression of him!
Actually Matt, I'm only blowing off steam. Don;t take it seriously :)
^ he actually got to do 3 films with Warner brothers.
Purple Rain is pretty good but has bad moments.
UTCM (under the cherry moon) is a notorious POS .... (haven't watched it RECENTLY to confirm. ... just relying on memory)
Graffiti Bridge has great music but poor production/zero thematic elements. As a music video it's cool
Sign o the times was released on the big screen but hasn't been legally available in the us except on vhs.. THAT is a great film. (It's basically a live gig)
So. ... yeah

I agree, Matt. My gawd he's wonderful. I have never had the pleasure of seeing him alive although I purchased a ticket once but couldn't go.
He demands the best from the members of his 2 bands with a motto "real music by real musicians".
I liked the Rainbow Children era the best.
Cool!
The rainbow children album was a melange of Santana, miles Davis, James Brown, orchestral and his own take on things.
The words put some people off (they can be interpreted MANY ways. ... particularly "the banished ones"... which led some people to think it was "racist" rather than analytical and metaphor. .) But I think that'sbeenhis strongest album of the 2000+ era... musicology wasn't bad at all either
Planet earth had it's share of WELL PRODUCED filler and lotusflow3r was under produced but great (If you ignore the embarrassing first disc. .... good God she must have had an incredible snatch. ..* errmm.... she must have been an incredible CATCH!
pardon my engrish
My favorite queen song is rub of my rife
