Since both of the men wrote usually commercial and fan favourite songs, Brian has a degree in Astrophysics and Freddie excelled in Art School, both are intelligent and genius. What do you think could be their IQs? My opinion is - Freddie: Superior 120 - 129 Brian: Very Superior 130 - above |
tero! 48531 20.04.2014 02:45 |
I think their IQ could be anything. I don't believe that any single number can quantify a person's intelligence, let alone his artistic capabilities. |
Heavenite 20.04.2014 02:50 |
Yes! Artistic capabilities would not necessarily be all that correlated with IQ. But having said that, I expect that Brian's IQ would be very high. But I'm not sure whether Freddie would rate so highly on that sort of test, being more purely an artistic sort than Brian. Having said that, I agree that both were geniuses in the artistic dimension, especially Freddie! |

There is no way to tell. TS is just doing a little wishful thinking here. They plainly weren't retards, but other than that, there's nothing sensible we can say on the subject. The fact that Brian has an astrophysics degree suggests he might have a high IQ, but it doesn't provide any definite info. |
Stelios 20.04.2014 07:25 |
We know that IQ tests and numbers are highly debatable these days for actual credibility, due to a a lot of reasons. However... I would say Mercury had an advanced EQ (emotional inteligence) which is something that blends with IQ becouse we are above all social animals. His mixed cultural background, the fact his sexuality and love life ranged on a be a biger spectrum than a more "typical str8 man", and his inner struglles on that subject all gave him a wider perspective on things in generall. Especially human ineteraction on any level. Perhaps that is why his humor and imagination had always such an edgy layout. Also beeing a frontman of that magnitude prooves a high amount of shelf-awareness and advanced communication/leadership skills. Dr.May falls in the "more typical" IQ spectrum. Clearly an intelligent man, with an highly analytical mind. More able to concentrate for a long period of time in a concept (music, physics, astronomy) and therefore undertand and highlight the details that make all the difference sometimes ( or all the times). A more sceptical and sober man than Freeddie able to be in touch with his negative feelings ( before turn them into sarcasm or anger) therefore his stugles with depression. Also seems more able to connect with abstract concepts. However Freddie didn't have the opportunity to grow older for his "wisdom" to flourish, so we can't really say. |

To me it's more important that they wanted to become "Rockstars"...a degree is possible for almost everyone with a regular IQ - of course some people have to work harder for it, but that's life :) |

I'd say Brian easily above 140 given his phd subject and given his natural talent for music, numbers, and tinkering with mechanical engineering. Freddie, well this guy had an entire stadium full of people by the proverbial balls. They would clap, sing, and bark at his command. Not many people can rally the crowd like that aside from the very talented ones. The only other person who could be as effective in front of a stadium full of people in the XX century was Mick Jagger, Hitler and John Paul II, for different reasons off course but the artistic talent is what we are comparing here after all. All four were talented enough for the very last person at the back of the stadium to believe that the performance is directed personally at them. I'd say Freddie was 150 - 165. Deacon is probably 115- 130 tops, but Brian and Freddie easily top 1%. Not sure about Roger, he seems the only psychologically 'normal' in the entire band. |

These parameters vary widely according to the particular scale used (Stanford-Binnet, Cattell.) 131/2 seems to be an average/mean so 150-165 to me seems ridiculously high and a tad unbelievable IMO. Why would you feel Deacy was less intelligent (quotiently) than Fred? Electronics degree would seem to follow similar mathematical lines that BM's maths/science bent wouldn't you think? |

After careful consideration and weighing all the evidence, I've changed my opinion. It's easy to see what their IQ's were/are. Brian's IQ is somewhere around 109-112 because of his curly hair, Freddie's would be 110-113 considering his teeth, and Roger's IQ is EXACTLY 111.5 (or 111.7 with his sunglasses on). John, on the other, has proven to have an IQ of well above the others by staying out of the Queen+ projects... It's obvious that his IQ is at least 115. |
FreddieCat 21.04.2014 09:20 |
"Brian's wig" is the exact replicate of Sir Isaac Newton's. He loves science and fits in well with the science community. I give him the highest overall IQ although common sense seems to elude him at times. |
Vocal harmony 21.04.2014 12:39 |
BM is the highest educated of the four, so it seems logical that he would have an higher IQ. He also seems a very focussed character. I'm not sure about Freddie, everyone seems to have him not far behind Brian, but I wonder if he maybe lower than Roger. If we take education as a determining factor, then what we carry through life should reflect this. If you look at the lyric writing past the first four Queen albums, and into the 80's and beyond it's Roger who seems to cover more serious subjects. Maybe reflecting a character who is or was more willing to learn, in the same way as BM may have been. As Ludwigs pointed out JD's electronics background and education stand him in good step as a contender for a high IQ. But i think someone who achieved an art diploma following a good standard of education, but little else until Queen became a success would maybe be the person with the lowest IQ |
thomasquinn 32989 21.04.2014 12:41 |
People here seem to have an extremely hard time understanding that artistic accomplishments and/or the attainment of a Ph.D. in any subject do not provide any but the vaguest indications regarding IQ. We don't know any of the Queen-members' IQs and we never will, that's something you're going to have to live with. All this speculation, ranging from thought-through-but-still-unreliable-guesses all the way to bat-crap-crazy-deification, doesn't provide anything meaningful. |

This is purely my opinion from my understanding of IQ but I believe Freddie Mercury's IQ would be above 1:40 possibly 1:45 because of his ability to play and compose on the piano and his perfectionism and accomplishment. I'm more of a fan of Freddie himself but as considering Brian May I would consider him also at 145 IQ at least. From what we understand of IQ if you look at history they say that Shakespeare was possibly above 160 and they say that the person who wrote Dante's Inferno was probably above 160. You can Google information about famous people and their IQ and there are at least 10 Extraordinary People in history and they will tell you what their IQ is. Mine is a 1:30 and I'm very limited I don't think Freddie was merely a 1:30. Just loved Freddie Mercury although I am kind of a strict Christian and he goes against my beliefs but I do not blame him. We are all Fallen and Sin is Sin. It doesn't matter what it is. And I am a sinner every day. |

a) It doesn't matter b) it's an old thread c) It still doesn't matter d) My last IQ test scored 140. The one before that was 187 and an older one just 120. I was offered a place in Mensa, but wouldn't pay the fees, I don't care if all bloops are razzies - It's all made up. IQ's are based on brain agility and speed, not "intelligence". You can be fast on some tests and not on others. It means not a jot. Commonsense is a much better thing ;) e) Gerry likes the sound of two bricks bashing together |
dysan 27.10.2018 06:33 |
d) - Exactly the same. Although I have a feeling I'd score pretty lowly if I resat it now. |

It means a little more than "nothing", but it's definitely not the Ultimate Measure Of Worth And/Or Intelligence. Oh, and you can train to get better on these sorts of tests. I once had to take a real IQ test, as in professional, supervised by a specialist, taking two nearly-full days - even though the kinds of tasks are very similar to the online type tests and the standard paper tests many (American) businesses use, there is really no comparison. Supervisors measure all kinds of things aside from simply tallying the answers you give - from dealing with interruptions and surprises to performing multiple tasks at the same time, to seeing how long it'll take you to spot that a task cannot be completed within the terms that were set. It was interesting to do, though, even if it did get a little tedious towards the end of the second day (fortunately, not consecutive days). If it weren't too expensive to take professionally supervised IQ tests, I'd think that rather than being good measures of intelligence, they'd be good exercise to *train* certain kinds of intelligence. Oh, and any reference to celebrity IQ's on the internet is a complete and utter load of bull, but I'm guessing everyone except the religiously deranged resurrection man who dug up this topic knew that already. |

I made a reply here but I cannot find it right now my username is wenburke555. That's if anyone wants to find me everybody should know that IQ tests are culturally biased and they do vary. I have taken a lot of them on different things and they all say that I am 1:29 to 1:30 IQ.. I have some basic usable intelligence but I am very limited the more intelligent you are the easier it is to learn all kinds of things no matter what they are. As an example Andrew cunanan had an IQ of 145 as it is reported and he was considered very special by his parents and he was near like Einstein. You can Google the IQ of geniuses going all the way back in history and there are estimations like for Leonardo da Vinci and Shakespeare and Einstein. We are just curious people and we like to know things and measure things. my guess is that Freddie Mercury had and IQ quite above 140. The reason I say this is because his gifts and so many areas were so perfect and off the charts. He had to have been a genius to write songs and compose. I do very much like Freddie Mercury that is why I am here. I wish that I could have had his child because it could have been awesomely talented. I never wanted children ever but I would have had one from Freddy. I am a big sinner but I'm a born again Christian but I still sin and Freddy did live in sin. Big time. But he did not know any better. We all live in a fallen world and I believe being gay is just an aspect of living in a fallen world. I do not blame him. I think he could have been the love of my life. |
