New Michael Jackson album with umfinished tracks will be released in May.
According to the los angeles daily news : "The album will not contain the three unreleased songs Jackson recorded in 1983 with Queen singer Freddie Mercury".
So il seems that the tracks will be featured on ANOTHER album (or never!!)...
What do you think ?
Another album I would think! This is a good reason for them to delay the release of the Queen project unfortunately I would think. Another is the loss of another lead actor in the Freddie Mercury album. I reckon we will be waiting another 12 months.
According to the german radio station I'was listening today - it contains eight new songs from MJ. So the FM/MJ tracks will be released separately( maybe on a Queen Album ) or -n-e-v-e-r- I guess.
The material which belongs to Queen seems to be the only material which is always:
a) delayed;
b) promised to be released next week, next month, next year, in ten years, blah blah blah;
c) unlikely to ever see the light of day.
End of.

The MJJ Estate lawsuits heaped upon them, particularly the Quincy Jone $10 million and IRS $700 million, might possibly slow QP down a bit. Proceed with caution!!

You'd think the Estate would jump at the opportunity to earn some extra cash sooner to help fund any potential future settlements in those lawsuits. Jeez.

I dunno. $700 mil is alot of cash. Quincy Jones' is chump change compared to that whopping IRS lawsuit.
Not necessarily. If you don't have it, you can't pay it out. Usually they do some sort of deal, at least that was the way the Tax Office in Australia where I used to work operated. Once the deal is done, I would have thought that the MJ estate could start again, chastened and a bit financially lighter, but ready for new revenues. Having said that, the release of the MJ album in May does seem to suggest it could be used to fund a tax liablity.
I am beginning to think there is a worldwide Queen conspiracy. New material is almost always about to being released from the bottomless Archives that are rumored to exist just like the alien life forms, but something always happens in the last minute that prevents the release.
Honestly, with the MJJ Estate legal complexities, it has got to be about the caution required to work with them. Even though the Quincy Jones lawsuit is tiny compared to the big IRS, the details involve mixing procedures which left Mr Jones out in the cold. This may signal a need for B&R/QP to go slow and examine any legal landmine which could be present in their mixing of the 3 songs. I personally think B&R could have bopped this puppy out with their eyes closed if not for these potential thorny legal issues.
The omission of the 3 songs in Xscape is interesting. Were they left out for legal reasons or to allow B&R/QP to include them in their upcoming album?
Alot of questions, but again, hopefully when the album is produced the MJJ/FM songs are only included with original classic Queen material.
Definitely! We want those MJ fans to know why their hero loved the music of Freddie and the rest of the band so much! Coz there's loads of them in the US!
