Thought it would be nice to see if anyone's a particular song in mind that they think would have been better if queen had performed it. (And don't just say all songs would have been better).
For me I always think they could have done "vienna" by ultravox with a queen twist like a brian solo instead of the keyboard solo . And "empty rooms" by gary moore but with brian on vocals. Any suggestions?
I still lament that they didn't get the Rocky 3 commission, as brilliant as eye of the tiger was, Queen would've been fantastic for this.
Sly had them marked out after Another one bites the dust was released, but things moved no further.
Queen could have done an awesome version of Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song' Fred on main vocals and Roger doing Robert Plant's high notes aaah! as their voices are quite similar and raspy. The live version in Berlin in '86' with Freddie doing the Aaah! bits sounded like an impersonation of one his cats I am sorry to say.
now this is a great topic. - but not "better" - just "different"
for me - these are all songs that i love that were perfect first time, but i'd have liked to hear a queen version
Rainbow' - Stargazer
Black Sabbath - Die Young
Zeppelin - In The Light
Strawbs - Lay Down
Boston - A Man I'll Never Be
T-rex - 20th Century Boy
Deep Purple - When a Blind Man Cries
Van halen - Panama
Elton John - This Train Don't Stop There Anymore
Elton John - Something About The Way You Look Tonight
Bowie - Rock n Roll Suicide
Let me in your heart again - Anita Dobson ! State of shock - The Jackson's ! Born to Rock n roll - Cliff Richard ! Man on fire - Roger Taylor ! Freedom train - Roger Taylor ! Just for starters.
Hungry like the wolf -duran duran
Lady stardust-bowie
Actually its harder to think of songs that they could have done in the 70s I guess its because they really wernt like anyone else in the 70s
Its much more easy to imagine queen in the 80s performing your suggestions.
Well to me it is.

Some great choices there.
I didn't expect to see the Abbey Road medley in there. That would have certainly worked!
While we're at it, throw in a little "I Want You (She's so heavy)" and I'm sold.
I always thought that Kansas "Carry on my wayward son" would be a perfect Queen song.
Another one that comes to mind is the suberb Scorpions "Still Loving you"
Speaking of Thunder: what about the superb Low Life in High Place. Thunder's version is an absolute stunning version. Curious what Brian will do, can do with the guitarparts....
Life on mars by David Bowie or The long and winding road with road with a proper bass player called John Deacon you don't have to hide with a wall of sound. ;)
It's odd, but I nearly posted a topic which was the inverse of this, about modern names in music covering the Queen songs that would've suited their sound best. Anywho, this got my mental cogs going, and I would have loved to see the following songs being covered by the band: Eagles' Hotel California, Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here (Roger on vocal), Fleetwood Mac's Little Lies, Dusty Springfield's I Close My Eyes and Count to Ten, and Tom Jones' Not Responsible (Brian on vocal).

bit "pot" and "kettle" thta one - didn't Queen do the whole WOS thing with FHLI?
secondly, have a listen to LIB...naked - there's plenty of bass
