BRIAN (at House of Guitars on 8 January 2014): "I’d seriously like to make another album, you know, sort of guitar music..There will be a time. I’d love to - thank you for asking me."
Good to hear Brian hasn't completely given up on the idea of a another solo "guitar" album. We might even get Brian's version of "The Lot" maybe?
it's not the most encouraging response tho, is it? if you're keen on something you elaborate and opine about it - nada
"there will be a time"
makes it sound like it's really far down the list of things to do
way way way behind
1. Queen + AL tour
2. Queen album with old vocals
3. Skywatching
4. Another Stereoscopic book
5. Badger-baiting (I mean, saving)
6. The Anthologies hahahahahah
7. any other colaborations
He recorded a song 3 years ago with Steve Cropper "I Do".
It's such a happy song and his vocal still sounds good today. One of my favourite solo songs of him.
Oh by the way, here is that great track: link
Anyone remember that collaboration with Meat Loaf ?
Back to toppic:
I could imagine that there will be a another solo album from Brian, but it won't see the light of day very soon and not in a classic rock manner. Would be nice if he prove me wrong.

You forgot the Brian/Kerry dvd release... Which I am really looking forward to!
Brian was interviewed on "My Planet Rocks" on Planet Rock radio (19 January 2014 - repeat broadcast on 23 January 2014 @ 8pm GMT) and he said he'd done some preparation work on an album with Tony Iommi. link
I reckon Brian might be looking at Roger's set and thinking, well if he can do it, and Freddie's got a 10CD/DVD set out there on the back of two albums and a bunch of singles and collaborations, then why can't I? And I'm sure The Lot would have sold a whole less well if Roger hadn't decided to put out another album at the same time. It sort of makes the whole thing current again I think. I mean I for one have been playing those discs like they were going out of fashion since I got my box set.
It's certainly down the list considering so much is on at the moment in the Queen world, but a solo album might move up the list fairly quickly now that he's seen what Roger's done. I mean The Lot actually charted! And at a couple of hundred bucks a pop, that would be a nice royalty I would think. Plus the whole kudos of having your solo work done out like that must be a nice thing too I would think!
PS I love Bijou, but I would prefer stuff like Love Token, Resurrection and Cyborg any day to the more schmaltzy tuff like Last Horizon and A Different World. He can do it if he really wants to! No doubt about it! :-)
A Brian May - The Lot type boxset would be mostly awful. His body of solo work, as well as being much smaller than Roger's, is also nowhere near as good.
In fact, Starfleet project is the only one that even gets a spin from me now, his 3 solo albums are all pretty poor, with the exception of the odd track. Furia, I don't think I made it through the whole thing, it's neither a good album nor a good soundtrack. The film was OK though.
Each to their own I guess. I have preferred Brian's and Freddie's solo albums to Roger's over the years, although Roger has had some absolute cracker tracks like Strange Frontier, Dear Mr Murdoch, Old Friends and Heaven for Everyone.
Re BrIan's solo work, I much preferred Back to the Light to Another World, and Furia really was purpose-built as a soundtrack and is highly repetitive. And I agree, at least two more solo albums would be preferable for a box set because there is not an awful lot of music on his albums at this point.
One thing that would help I think is if Brian had all his collabs put on there. I guess the Kerry Ellis stuff would be a given, but also the bits and pieces all over the place that he has done for different artists. It would certainly make for an interesting set of sleeve notes I think.
