Roger Taylor - My Country I & II
Remastered as 2013 version, but this time with the tape slippage fixed.
(I know some people think this is official, maybe it is. But I think they should have fixed the slippage in the corrected Box. That's why I'm uploading this.)
Cheers.
Wondered how long it would take some enterprising person to do this.
Sorry, but regardless of the no sharing official material rule here, I'm all for this one being allowed.
So. Fun In Space next then please!
^ Me too, for two reasons:
1 - the "official" version is wonky. This is not an exact copy.
2 - It offers a service to those who have the "official" version but have inferior product. The bigwigs took the bucks but didn't deliver the goods. In effect, this torrent is a compliment to the official set.
That said, there are some grey areas created by what I'm saying - notably, there are some who may download without having the official product.
I personally won't be downloading the "fix" until I have the set. That's my word, and I hope that others will take the same POV. Anyways, what good is one track from a full album when you don't have the rest? It's not as if its a rarity, so would be useless having it (IMO).
If it were the full set, we'd have an issue :)
I'd like to extend that to things such as the Cyberbarn gig, that were not made available to retailers. AFAIK, that was only a fan-club release (don't quote me and correct me if I'm wrong), in limited numbers. There would be no loss of revenue from having it uploaded. I know it's still official and rules are rules, but IMHO there should be a bit of leeway. Stuff like 7" edits, long deleted and unobtainable tracks (the elusive Bo Rhap edit, for example) or edits exclusive to a particular territory should (just my opinion) be excluded from the rule too, as it wouldn't equal loss of revenue.
If, for any reason, these items became freely available, then we could put them in the "no-go" area.
Josh told me the OVER ALL speed on My country I & II was corrected, and that the '96 remaster in fact runs fast.
The 'slippage' was a result of the current 'condition' of the master.
I notice the duration on this 'fix' puts it at 6:48 (from 6:58)
RE the official stuff, what's the difference between uploading something like this and the tracks that end up on the remixes forum? All of that comes from official material....
Official and copyrighted seem to be two different things. If we're talking copyright, then same could be said for the live recordings and the demos that go around freely. RE FIA getting back to you, I feel your pain: something that seems to be rife in QZ these days is an OP saying something and then never coming back to address the response they get. It's happened to me twice in the last fortnight on the collecting forum, with people offering an item for sale and then not answering the questions you have for them. Crazy!!
Technically the bootlegs should be just as illegal, since the songs themselves are licensed and published, just not that particular performance of them. But the reality is, most artists aren't upset by audience tapes et all. They just look the other way, since this kind of activity is engaged in by their most loyal fans, after all. Not a dime is being lost.
If the corrected version of the box set still didn't fix this track and there is no "legit" fix to download, there should be nothing wrong with this being available. It's not like this single song would discourage sales of the entire box.
When the cat's away the mice will play. Someone could upload the entire Queen discography on here and it probably wouldn't get taken down. This forum hasn't seen any kind of moderation in ages.
^ You have to draw the line somewhere though.
Back to the 'fix', is it at the correct speed?
If not, it isn't exactly a fix is it?
Like I said before, I only know what Josh told me.
^ No, no lines: copyright is copyright, regardless of whether it got an official release. Differing opinions aside, it didn't answer the question - what's the difference between sharing this "fix" and a fan made remix? Not arguing with you big fella, just want to know :)
^ The policy on here 'used' to be no sharing of official releases.
That policy is quite fair and pretty easy to understand.
That's where the ''line'' was.
The fan made remixes are not official releases.
I didn't share this fixed track or comment on it being official.
I only asked who fixed it, how, and if it was at the correct speed.
Happy new year to you too!
Why are you leaving, though? Nobody was arguing against the site's policy or disputing it's easiness to digest, nor did anyone say that you commented about the "fix" being official - it was just an interesting question that came from a comment from Brians Wig. It looks like you're taking things a bit too personally here, especially when the opinion I expressed was in general, and not aimed at you directly. But since you're the one who responded, that's why my questions thereafter were aimed at you.
Nobody was arguing with you. I just wanted to know what the difference was between this "fix" and fan made mixes. My opinion is that this "fix" is nothing more than a fan mix, so shouldn't fall under the "official" category. If anyones reckons it does, then QZ would need to take down the fan mixes too, as they are derivatives of an official release. (Btw, my opinion about sharing and my *unanswered* question about copyright are two separate things). The discussion moved onto copyright, because that's how discussions go - they can take one path or another.
You wanted the topic to keep a straight path, and have attempted to move it back onto your question. Clearly the only person who could answer it for you wasn't responding. That doesn't mean that we were deliberately trying to steer things away. There was no need to be abrupt (I say "abrupt"as that's how dismissing another poster's thoughts whilst ushering things back "on topic" makes you look).
There was certainly no need to leave (especially after having to build your profile back up after having had the last one deleted in error). It just looks like you've spat the dummy. That's a shame and, although we rarely see eye-to-eye, I'd like to see you back.
If not, then good luck to you. I'll still keep you posted if I find The Cross gig.
