14 April 2013 Roger Taylor is putting the finishing touches on a new solo album. Tentatively titled "Unblinking Eye (Everything is Broken)", the project has been in the works since the conclusion of Queen's most recent tour with Paul Rodgers, in 2008. "The album is taking its final shape, after a lot of work and worry," Taylor confirmed via Facebook. "Hope you like? Nearly there …". Beyond the title song, confirmed tracks for Taylor's new album include "Dear Mr. Murdoch," "I am the Drummer in a Rock 'n' Roll band", "Smile" and "When We Were Young," with help a group of sidemen reportedly including keyboardist Mike Dixon, bassist Neil Murray and percussionist Rufus Taylor, among others. Recently Taylor also had his first photo session in 10 years for the new album with Pattie Boyd.
Has anyone heard when we were young or is it retitled ??
maybe it's "UP". and words "never look down" might be replaced by "when we were young"....but that's only my explanation and i am not sure about it and have no proof if it's WWRY (When We Were Young, not We Will Rock You :-P ) still in the shelve and see no daylight...
Just how many tracks were recorded for FOE?
Remember the original idea was to publish 20 tracks online to buy and then vote for your favorite 10: the winners to be put on the official CD album....

I wonder how the album would have turned out if we chose? defiantly a lot different!!! so the question is, where are the rest? Never to see the light of day, I would think :-(
With the interview Rog gave where he said he's not as prolific as he used to be, I would wonder if one of the reasons the choice idea was scrapped was because he simply didn't have enough to choose from....
if i was a prolific songwriter i would not record twice "the unblinking eye", "say it's not true", "one night stand" and "Small". I would record something totally new. But we're happy with Roger because he's a legend and one of our heroes: he can sing, he's the drummer in THE rock'n roll band, he can play decently other instruments, he's got many ideas in his last 45 years and therefore we love him!

well,
The Unblinking Eye: not a new recording, but a new "abridged" mix. Quite awful to me, I stick to the original version
Say It's Not True: it's a live take, not a new studio re-recording.
One Night Stand: yep, there are some new bits, but he's also using many other elements from the original version. Somehow it makes sense starting FOE with this song, given how Electric Fire ended
Small: yess. Completely new re-recording. But it's a lovely one and I'm glad he did it !
