This topic will be about the web browser compatibility issues and other omissions on the official Roger Taylor website. The website does not load properly in Opera at all. Firefox does not show any of the swag + singles + inner sleeve pictures and information on each album description. When you mouse over album cover it shows track list and you can listen to the songs - this feature does not show in Internet Explorer, but IE and Chrome show all the pictures correctly. In Safari the track list "on mouse over" the album picture do show up, but you cannot listen to anything. The site shows loading and 2 errors. And there's a bad error on The Cross singles 2 page (player does not show up, some black div over page fragment). INFORMATION SINGLES 1. Felix and Arty 12" single - never heard of that before, there was only a CD promo ELECTRIC FIRE 1. "Two bar Electric Fire no 1" by Time Hara - this is in fact Tim Mara 2. The tournée started in March 1995 - Wrong year, March 1999 HAPPINESS 1. When talking about live versions for the singles "Dear Mr. Murdoch" is stated - when the song featured on the single is the studio version, not the Shepherds Bush live one. SHOVE IT 1. "Cowboys and Indians" video made by Ralph Zimon - this is Ralph Ziman. MAD BAD 1. "Liar" video shot at two concerts - as far as I know, these were two shots at one Nurnburg concert. BLUE ROCK 1. "(2013...) The event will celebrate 20 years since the five musicians met" - maths do not match ;) Other stuff will follow. |

Asides from the technicl aspects, the incompetence and error count on the actual info is staggering: First thing that strikes me is the statement/quote from Roger on the homepage, that they've transcribed incorrectly. Then I read the Blue Rock page and could barely read parts of it due to the grammatical nonsense going on. Then the final paragraph reads that the December gig in Guildford will mark 20 years since the members of The Cross first met (which even the most basic maths can work out, based the release dates of their first material must have been at LEAST 26/27 years ago). Then the Shove It page itself states that the album finished recording in December 1987, and was then released some 10 months EARLIER in January 1987. I can't bring myself to read the rest - I give up. |

From the Mad, Bad and Dangerous section: "The tour comprised 14 shows, including two dates in Amsterdam, Holland [...]" There was only one date in Holland. |

WTF? A website which plays background music automatically? Should I get a heart attack? I thought this nastiness died in the 90's :-( Horrible, I hope they get rid of it soon. Also - what are the weird pictures? Is that some navigation? Because if yes it doesn't work correctly on FF I understand what were the designers tried to do - a tablet friendly website, but still it looks like work of a little girl, just like the video. I start to see the pattern here. But PLEASE if the correct person reads this - PLEASE get rid of the unwanted background music ! Or at least don't start it automatically, or start it with a fade in or something like that. |

Don't think I've ever seen such a crappy site for someone with so much money. |

Yes, the icons made by Felix Taylor are the navigation but some of them do not work (the tours and lyrics for example). The tours are not on the website, the lyrics I think they ment it to link to the original lyrics section which is online. BUT the links are put "under" the icons in random order - no chronology at all - they link to different albums but in no special order. |

months and months of "coming soon" and this is the final result? It is nearly worse than the boxset. I'm more disappointed by the faulty website than by the boxset. "How coud anybody be so incompetent?" |

Roger is still stuck in the 80's talking about Wembley with regards to moving with the times and technology, Brian may be a whinger but at least he embraces technology. I've just listened to Fun on Earth it's a very safe album easy listening, Smile is a good song it would make a good release, this album is ok but not a patch on Happiness or Electric Fire. |

Thanks for this info. I thought my computer needed an upgrade. Glad to know it's not a user end problem. |
Cockeye 11.11.2013 17:48 |
The site refuses to work on an iPad either.......at all. Tells you to log onto a desktop computer. Shocking. |
inu-liger 11.11.2013 19:03 |
The website format coding is absolutely horrendous! Firefox cannot handle it well at all, it's just absolutely unbrowseable. This would have been less than acceptable in the mid-1990's, perhaps. I'd like to know what browser and build variant thereof that they're using to test this website, assuming there's ANY QC testing going on! |
darcy-wright 11.11.2013 19:05 |
I looked at the site for 4 seconds and that was enough of a first impression to ruin it. It definately is a reminder of a mid 90s self made sites, the only thing missing was the custom cursor with the shadow trail behind it. What a embaressment. web guides say it has about 20-30 seconds to interest a visitor before they click off it, this is hard to navigate and a mess. people will not be visiting it. It needs video pages or youtube links, download live bootlegs, freebies for fans of demos or live stuff. |

You know, this has got to be the most embarrassing case of promotion going completely all foobar with regards to ANY Queen or Queen related release in recent memory. You've got an otherwise awesome boxset completely marred in production and mastering mistakes, and a newly launched website that has the worst design I have ever seen for ANY so called "professional" website in a long time! To make matters worse, the old RT site under queen-fip.com was a hell lot easier to browse around and figure out than this garbage. They seriously owned themselves on this quite badly. I seriously hope this is a wake up call to those professionally affiliated with QPL and related co. that they seriously need to turn around and change their ways, and make a swift return to the days when quality product actually MATTERED for Queen and not solely just the fans! |
brunogorski 12.11.2013 08:13 |
Guess I will NEVER even open the site, after all the stuff you guys posted here. o_o |
splicksplack 12.11.2013 10:53 |
The thing is, as long as some of you people continue to pay for Queen product, whether it be faulty cds or gigs with inappropriate lead singers, then QPL will just continue. Well, they will anyway because the vast majority that pour cash into their pockets are not hard core fans. i will NEVER pay another penny to them, not because it will hurt them financially - it won't, but because my integrity is preventing me from giving my cash to such an arrogant bunch of money-grabbers that clearly do not give a shit about those who put them in this position in the first place. The only way to respond is don't buy anything and spread the word of how rotten their attitude is. If I was Roger Taylor I'd be posting a personal apology on QOL, QZ and Facebook with a promise to come back with what went wrong and what he will personally oversee to rectify it. NO CHANCE. Probably off in the sun with Sarina as we speak. Spending YOUR money. |

Actually Opera web browser is recognized as a mobile browser, and mobile browsers are not supported at this time. BUT do not get offended that much, you can still find some interesting info there - and the greatest addition are the handwritten letters - but they could at least adjust its levels so that all would read clearly. I think the website is best viewed in Chrome - it shows all the pictures plus the playlists "on the back of album picture". |

Why on earth should we have to find fixes to view it? It's supposed to be a promotional tool. He's not doing us a favour!!! |

One of the most ugly and non useful website I've ever seen, sorry... As an official website of a well known musician, it must be a joke... |
PEG 13.11.2013 13:49 |
It has been built with Word Press (essentially, a blog site builder). |
daga 13.11.2013 14:08 |
For my better site about RT is link Offical not work, wrong info and missing singles. |
PEG 13.11.2013 14:13 |
I have my own website, and my designer would not rest until it displayed perfectly on ALL browsers. He spent five months perfecting the tiniest details. If QPL want his number, I would be delighted to pass it on. |
RMT Fan 14.11.2013 03:22 |
It took 5 months for this page to be made |

Seriously, the site needs to be taken down - why is it still online? Nobody can deny that it's really bad - I have tried looking at it with the latest versions of Explorer and Firefox, and it displays wrongly in both browsers. Never mind the information on the site, it is unbrowsable. The layout is too spaced out when viewing with Firefox, and too cramped up when viewing with Explorer. Links don't work... and I really want to know what "swag and stuff" means. Seriously seriously it needs to be taken offline. It doesn't even look anywhere near half finished. Roger deserves a top-notch site, come on guys!!! |
daga 14.11.2013 11:38 |
Too much space for empty space, icons. Roll down to search. Not news poll, why information with problems with box not on this site?! Why not email to contact with webmaster?! |
cmsdrums 14.11.2013 16:35 |
I've just tried to access it in my iPhone and now get a message to visit on a desktop computer and a mobile version is coming soon. It seems that our complaints are being heeded across the audio, printed, and web products - Shame it takes 'us' here to point out all these errors and really press the point home in order to get any action is taken. |
