I wouldn't go that far... There are some real improvements on there as well...and as far as I have heard yet, the first two albums sound incredibly good. So does 'I wanna testify'. Will listen again properly over the weekend, today's focus was mainly on the new album... ;) |

Does the booklet confirm this? |

I guess so. They sound much richer and clearer now, esp. Fun in Space. Track lengths are different to the ones from the 1996 CDs as well (I think 'My Country' is even about 3 or 4 secs longer...) Will check in detail this weekend. |

Received The Lot today (well, yesterday...) and just finished watching the DVD. I have to check it tomorrow with a different DVD player but it seems that my DVD has some sort of mastering error. Whenever there are some fast movements (waving hands, drumming) then the film stutters or flickers. Has anybody else the same problem with that DVD? |

Two more (text) errors: 1. In his foreword, final sentence, Rhys talks about a "cole" instead of "collection"; 2. In the tracklisting of the Cross-singles, last track (Shove it US), it is stated that the inclusion is a last minute "edition" instead of "addition". |

Wow. This is so disturbing that I can't even make a joke of it any more. They've pushed back the release date time and time again, and then they still manage a huge cock-up like this? Too bad that the most interesting Queen-related release in about a decade has to be messed up like this. Why is it that I never see these kinds of amateur botch-jobs with the other bands/artists I'm into? Anyway, it's clear that I won't be buying this set for a while yet! Don't know if this counts as an error or not but: On the disc 'The Cross Singles 1' track 4 should be 'Shove it (extended mix)' but it is actually 'The 2nd Shelf Mix'.... Now I hear you think "But they are the same"... actually they're not! Please read this to understand: Printed tracklist on the Shove It UK CD: 8. Rought Justice 9. The 2nd Shelf Mix Printed tracklist on the Shove it US CD: 9. Rough Justice Printed tracklist on the Shove It UK CD-single: 4. Shove It (extended mix) But as you all probably know the album Shove it ends with an extra outro based on the song Shove It. So what you actually hear is: Actual tracklist on the Shove It UK CD: 8. Rought Justice 3:22 9. Shove It (extended mix) + Outro 5:55 (which is commonly referred to as 'The 2nd Shelf Mix' by fans) Actual tracklist on the Shove it US CD: 9. Rough Justice + Outro 4:15 Actual tracklist on the Shove It UK CD-single: 4. Shove It (extended mix) 5:02 So the 'Shove It (extended mix)' with track duration 5:02 should have been on 'The Cross Singles 1' disc, but instead it has 'The 2nd Shelf Mix' with track duration 5:55. |

I Can't Get You Out Of My Head unfortunately has count-in chords badly edited out. It caused slight cut of the actual beginning of the song. Celebration is abridged version. 1:45-2:25 fragment of the original 5:15 track is edited out. It seems QPL has the weakest production team in the universe... I remember some time ago on summer there was a comment from GT about 'The Lot' on some its threads on QZ: "You won't be disappointed with the result". Now we all see what he meant... |

Another thing that I heard was that 'Hand Of Fools' and 'Life Changes' do not follow eachother as quick as they do on the original album. There is a little more silence between them. On the original album 'Life Changes' begins slightly before the last echo of 'Hand Of Fools' has faded out, on 'The Lot' the 'Hand Of Fools' echo gets plenty of time to fade out. I think if you went and looked at most albums you will find spelling errors, clicks and pops on some tracks and some wrong info in thecredits etc. With a box set it is going to have more than its fair share.I am still looking foward to "The Lot" being delivered. Please don't delude yourself that they are going to recall all the Box Sets and do a take 2 Box Set.This like most things in life is not perfect but mistakes included lets enjoy whats good about the product and not the bad. |

brians wig 09.11.2013 15:15 |
DVD problem could be that whoever encoded it set the field order the wrong way round. I'm sorry, but duplication errors are one thing, but when errors are something that should have been picked up on before mastering the discs, then it's quite simply appalling. Surely someone should have checked these before AND after duplication? Quite simply it's shoddy quality control. I'd expect a replacement disc program to be initiated forthwith, but if the attitude ends up being "we don't care, live with it", then I hope Roger can live with the fact that he'll have ended his solo career on a very sour note with his fans. |

So those of you who have found the printing errors and lack of lyrics on EFire you can sit and look at them and say its shocking how Roger treats his fans ! Ha Ha do you think that it was down to Roger the errors in text ?At least Roger has given us something new and will keep me entertained for many hours, well i must go as i think i will have my eggs poached for breakfast i guess . |
TheVisibleMan 10.11.2013 03:32 |
We should be really thankful that we got this fantastic set. Roger is only "the drummer in a rock 'n roll band" and i think that it is unusual that we get an anthology from a drummer. After listening to "life changes" i have somehow the feeling that this error is intentionally. Otherwise why would they make a fade out? By the way FOE is great. |
Cockeye 10.11.2013 03:45 |

If replacement discs are produced, I'd imagine that'll cut deeply into RT's profit - this wasn't a Universal product as it was delivered to them by RT'S team, so I somehow doubt Universal will press anything up at their own cost. Again, this kind of shit happens when your whole team is made up of amateurs. It's nice that RT has kept Josh MaCrae on the payroll all these years though and you've got people like Greg Brooks and Gary Taylor who cut and paste Discogs listings and can't be arsed proof reading their "own" work. Time to get the professionals in and start offering quality product. |
Ron 10.11.2013 07:44 |
I just had a listen to My Country I & II and I have no idea where the extra 10 secs are coming from, thus thinking that the speed is a bit slower on this new remaster? Also, the tape that they used sometimes sounds a bit wobbly like ie at 5:20 (which is 5:13 on the 1996 remaster), it sounds like the speed goes down and up again very fast. The intro also sounds rather slow which might confirm that this song runs slower (unless the 1996 remaster was sped up a bit). The Life Changes error is just ridiculous. It just stops near the end, then there's 2 secs of silence and then the single version kicks in and fades out. |

I don't expect the discs will be updated/corrected, but at least the artwork corrections could be made and the missing bits of booklet put back in. Again, it's the lack of recognition of the errors by those responsible that is as annoying as there being errors in the first place. |
Wilki Amieva 10.11.2013 07:48 |
Not to mention the nude mix of Dear Mr. Murdoch is the same as the 2011 version. Anyway, the fans will always criticise. We all have different opinions on what audio and video should have been included, how the physical format should have been, which photos should have been used, etc. There's no way you can make everybody happy with a selection of material - no matter how big it is. That said, I believe some of the Queen-related products have a serious lack of quality control. |
brians wig 10.11.2013 08:07 |
Yes. We will always argue over what should be included and what shouldn't, but massive cock ups like "Life Changes" are simply not acceptable and a replacement disc service should be offered ASAP. |

Greg Brooks and Gary Taylor are supposed to be huge Queen fans and are well aware of possible/probable criticisms, yet this happens again. No one checked the masters prior to manufacture or tested the discs prior to distribution? Really? No one proof read the liner notes? Heads should roll for stuff like this, but of course they won't. Who doesn't want amateurs working for them, eh? |

It's funny that the purpose of "The Lot" was to comprise all Roger's solo work, including the website only "One Night Stand" 1998 track, and now they "release" something new not included anywhere else than on their 2013 site, not even as a FOE box-only bonus, but instead they threw on there a song that is not only a 1994 re-worked tune, but also is already on another disc from the same box! Why should we want that one as a bonus track when it's exclusive to the same box where that song has been exclusively included in!? On a side not, just ONE proper listen to the "Blue Rock" CD would have spotted the error. Just ONE listen. Among all the RT team, no-one has taken the time to listen to the full disc even once? Totally lack of quality control. Since this release has been directed towards the hardcore Queen fans, they should have recluted ten of them (I could easily propose my candidates in a blink) and I can assure you that The Lot would have been faultless in all senses (quality audio production and correct track splitting, discs contents, non-duplicated stuff, accurate info on booklets, lack of typos, non-missing pages, well produced DVD's, mastering, etc). It still annoys me why Murdoch 2011 is there as a FOE bonus track instead of "The Shores Of Fermentera" or the unreleased "When We Were Young". It also annoys me the duplicated "Shove It" extended mixes and the "HFE" versions by Freddie, but no "Keep On Running" or "I Wanna Take You Higher". I do not have the box yet and I am still anxiously waiting for it, but if the RT team would have accepted some input from a couple of experts (I have no doubts that many fans from these forums are bigger experts than them), "The Lot" would have had the full glory release that it deserved. |

Just had a look at the lyrics included in the CD release of Shove It and you would need magnifaying glass to read them ,Strange Frontier was not much better when it was first put out on CD as was Fun In Space.I think that the people who are sending their box sets back are to be comended for trying to get things put right. However i think that they my not end up with anything but a refund of their money and they will miss out on this in parts fantastic CD box set..Listen to orginal Fun In Space and compare to new mix/remaster worth the money for the solo albums alone. |

I have said here several times in relation to numerous releases that proof listening and reading simply cannot be being done on final product runs. I suppose as opposed to someone being too lazy to do it, it could be that they do but are too incompetent to do it properly - not sure which is worse. In my view the archivists might well be able to access and listen to the tapes, but have been proved to simply not be qualified musically to tell the differences between mixes, versions etc. Sorry to be harsh, but in my view as a musician and Queen fan, most of the team are just not up to the job. |

DVD issues: 1. Shove It video - bad quality soundtrack which can be replaced with high quality album version - it hasn't been done. 2. The Unblinking Eye video - lossy quality soundtrack which can be replaced with high quality track from CD single - it hasn't been done. 3. Nazis 1994 video - album version soundtrack instead of original 'F-word' version. 4. Liar live version video - low quality audio, cut at the beginning. |

I've now just looked at Roger's new website. First thing that strikes me is the statement/quote from Roger on the homepage, that they've transcribed incorrectly. Then I read the Blue Rock page and could barely read parts of it due to the grammatical nonsense going on. Then the final paragraph reads that the December gig in Guildford will mark 20 years since the members of The Cross first met (which even the most basic maths can work out, based the release dates of their first material must have been at LEAST 26/27 years ago). Then the Shove It page itself states that the album finished recording in December 1987, and was then released some 10 months EARLIER in January 1987. I can't bring myself to read the rest - I give up on these incompetent fuckwits. |

There is a little more silence between them. On the original album 'Life Changes' begins slightly before the last echo of 'Hand Of Fools' has faded out, on 'The Lot' the 'Hand Of Fools' echo gets plenty of time to fade out. Don't know if it's the same with the other songs on 'Blue Rock' (except ofcourse the ones that are truly coupled to eachother, like 'Put It All Down To Love' and 'Millionaire)Actually it's a good issue now to have some proper sandalone versions. Also this fact means that remasters were made from original masters of every song. It seems all albums were compiled from the very start. 'Nazis 1994', Happiness' and 'Revelations' are uncoupled also, so not tied together anymore, but stand-alone versions. 'Nazis 1994' already was available as a stand-alone on the single, but that means that we have a stand-alone version of 'Happiness' and 'Revelation' for the first time on CD. 'Happiness' stand-alone only was available before as the soundtrack for the video, since the singles contained a badly cut album version. 'Revelations' has a helicopter sound at the beginning which could never be properly heard on the previous album version. |

JeroenG is absolutely right! Happiness on CD-single is simple fade out of the album version before crossfade into 'Revelation'. Happiness long outro was available only on video soundtrack before 'The Lot'. Now 'Happiness' has long ending before crossfade into longer 'Revelation' intro. Happiness, Revelation, Loneliness and Dear Mr Murdoch presented in more complete form on new remaster of the 'Happiness' album. It's really great! Also now there's no crossfades between tracks on 'Electric Fire'. 'No More Fun' has longer 'laughter' ending. It's not an error, it's a great addition! |

The thing is, as long as some of you people continue to pay for Queen product, whether it be faulty cds or gigs with inappropriate lead singers, then QPL will just continue. Well, they will anyway because the vast majority that pour cash into their pockets are not hard core fans. i will NEVER pay another penny to them, not because it will hurt them financially - it won't, but because my integrity is preventing me from giving my cash to such an arrogant bunch of money-grabbers that clearly do not give a shit about those who put them in this position in the first place. The only way to respond is don't buy anything and spread the word of how rotten their attitude is. I ripped all discs yesterday and had a look at each song and I think that the last sec or two of Rough Justice is actually tagged at the start of the 2nd Shelf Mix because there is a cross-fade between the two songs so I'll bet that the mix actually already starts at the last sec or two during Rough Justice and they therefore made the unconvential decision to index the two tracks like that. |

Does anybody know for sure if the 1996 reissue of Fun In Space ran at the correct speed? I seem to recall at the time thinking that it ran quicker than the original LP. Also the single versions on Youtube posted well over a year ago seem to match the box set, which kind of implies that maybe the issue is that the 1996 reissue was at the wrong speed which would make the boxed set correct - different to what we know, but correct compared to the original LP reissue. |

^ How did you discover inverted phase? Can you demonstrate? |
cmi 14.11.2013 02:58 |
Actually it doesn't really matter if the phase of both channels is inverted. It important for channels not to be out of phase with each other. Speed change issues is the main problem for 'Fun In Space' album. Try any sound editor and see the waveform of the track. |

Sorry if this has been spotted - another error that needs correcting is the intro to Life Changes (on the Blue Rock album) I have the original album, so I've noticed that the first second has been cut off on the Blue Rock album version. The first second is intact on the single version, but we know how that version ends... So both versions of Life Changes need correcting. |
inu-liger 14.11.2013 04:34 |
Uhhhhhhh, I'm pretty sure the ending cut off is the Lot's Blue Rock itself and that the actual single version is just fine on the set ^ |
cmi 14.11.2013 04:37 |
It's not an error but a difference in 2013 compilation of the album. In the original version of 'Blue Rock' album there's a crossfade between 'Hand Of Fools' and 'Life Changes'. In 2013 version there's NO crossfade and NO any cuts, so now both tracks have clean end/start which is great in my opinion. The same thing is for 'Electric Fire' album. BTW, 'One Night Stand' sample on the original CD is the password for 1998 website secret track (which was 'One Night Stand' full 1998 version) and not the part of the album. Just received my copy, fortunately no duplicate or missing CD's. Have to say that the tracks which were previously only available on vinyl sound a bit thin to my ears? I Wanna Testify and Turn On The TV sound great, but the extended mixes of Strange Frontier, Man On Fire and Manipulator seem to be a bit low on bass? |

Long time stalker/first time poster. Firstly - great to have to box even including the errors. Replacements would be great but I'm neither holding my breath or that worried overall. Next - surprised that no-one seems to have spotted the speed issue on Future Management. Listen to the synth on the opening bar and it's all over the place and is on average about 1/4 tone down from the original - whether compared to the 96 CD or the vinyl. |

PS one thing I'm really not that keen on is the amount of brickwalling on the remastering: the dynamic range is quite significantly reduced. Looking at Man On Fire from 1.00 - 2.00 the dynamic range on the original CD is about 21.5db. On the new CD it's about 18.8db. |

I don't know if I'd really call this an error, but it is a difference (and not a bad one). The live version of Old Friends is longer on The Lot. There's quite a few more seconds of crowd noise at the beginning. That being said, the remaster sounds great! |

I'm really surprised no-one noticed the mistakes in the Happiness credits: -the graphic symbols on the original credits near each musician's name that identified who played in each song are substituted in The Lot booklet by letters such as "R", "a", "v" and even "@"! And anyway they are useless because they should have been reported also after each song's lyric. -in the middle of the musicians names they put the copyright credits! Also, I noticed that not all the original artwork was reported: for example in Blue Rock they only printed one photo-collage and left off the other one; in Happiness they left off both Roger's pictures (the inner one and the backcover) but instead they added one more of the outer view of the recording studio (?). Maybe these were intentional so not really mistakes but something to complain for, IMHO. |
agrasso 16.11.2013 04:26 |
Also, they didn't care to put the lyrics for the extra FOE track Whole House Rockin'. |
agrasso 16.11.2013 04:47 |
Also, Magic Is Loose is 6 seconds shorter, so it seems to miss a part of the final fading. |
cmi 16.11.2013 04:56 |
Thanks for this info. Sad... |
agrasso 16.11.2013 05:11 |
Another difference I've found from the original Happiness album (not sure if to call them "mistakes" though): Everybody Hurts and Murdoch are few seconds longer, which means they have both an "extended" final. |
cmi 16.11.2013 05:17 |

Some errors I've found, not very bad but the multitude of them is a bit shocking. Titles are not written in the same style, sometimes prepositions are in small letter, sometimes in capitol Man on Fire, Heaven for Everyone) RHYS THOMAS INTRO - Heaven For Everyone misses second apostrophe - 'Heaven For Everyone - "Masters of War" is put in quotation marks instead of aphostrophes (as is done with all songs) - 'Everybody Hurts Sometimes' has 's' letter which is not in the song title. - 'Dear Mr. Murdoch' has dot after 'Mr' and in other placs it does not have the dot. - 'Nation of Haircuts' misses 'A' letter at the beginning - 'Where are You Now' has small letter in 'are' - Despite the before mentioned 'colle' insted of 'collection' is 'The Lot,' (where is this comma put?) and the rest of the sentence follows the next line although there is space in the same line. TRACKLISTING INSIDE THE BOOK RT Solo Singles 1 - all song names are in small letter except strange Frontier with Frontier in capitol letter - when listing everybody hurts sometime is written pic disk, next to old friends is pic disc RT Solo Singles 2 - keep a knockin' does not meet the guidelines of additional information put in brackets, it says: keep a knockin' - pressure on CD (Man Utd CD single) while all the songs have it like this: people on streets (mashed) (B-side of pressure on), some songs have 'On' added like this: a nation of haicuts (club cut) (On surrender part 1 CD single) - Strangely written is also woman you're so beautiful name, because the mix type does not follow immediately, it says: woman you're so beautiful felix + arty (main mix) The Cross Singles 1 - love lies bleeding says in bracket: (B side of cowboys) - where is 'and indians'? - Besides that B-side is sometimes written as B-side, sometimes B side (with no dash). - "Remixed Record" instead of "Remixed Records" - strange is also the order of the singles in charge of my heart and liar: in charge (single), liar (12"), in charge (extended), liar (7") The Lot DVD In Interviews & Electronic Press Kits section no mention of the 'Blue Rock' EPK BUT The Cross section says: 7 new dark - where is 'ages'? 8 blue rock- does anyone know of a song of this title? and the second version of power to love is not mentioned here in the list - no-one knows why Nazis 1994 follows Surrender, not the other way round. ROGER TAYLOR bio part stylofone, while in other part of the book is stylophone FIS LINER NOTES: - Andre Jauchet - for co-engineering 'airheads' and mainenance - should be 'maintenance' - Sleeve design: Hipnosis - should be 'Hipgnosis' SF LINER NOTES - 'Racing In The Streets' instead of 'Racing In The Street' - in thanks: Krzyssztof has one 's' too many SI LINER NOTES - throughout the book Ralph Ziman is named Ralph Zimon - 'Shove It' released on 25 Jan 1987 (this has been said before I think) - instead of 1988 - strange is the sentence: "All 8 tracks were written by Roger, and so too was an additional track (for the CD version only) 'The 2nd Shelf Mix' - it does not tell The 2nd Shelf Mix is in fact 'Shove It' so of course it is also written by Roger, no need to mention that when you know it's Shove It mix. - 'Golden Rose Rock Festival' in Montreux, (and the rest of the sentence is written in a new paragraph) - 02 arena instead of O2 Arena (used zero instead of O) - after the album description come credits, and the same credits are put once again after the lyrics. - John 'Teddy Bear' brough (small letter) - Nicki holland (small letter) - Phil Spaulding instead of Spalding - Noel Haris instead of Harris - Jackie Gunn instead od Jacky MBADTK LINER NOTES - two shows in Holland (stated before) - About 'Liar' video: An accompaning promotional video was put together from footage shot at two concerts during the German leg of tour, in Nuremburg in June. - It was not, it was two shots at the same concert in Nuremberg - and this correct information is given later in DVD descriptions! - lyrics to 'Final Destination' follow immediately after Old Men (no space as in other songs) - band members: no dot after Roger Taylor: lead vocals, guitar and backing vocals - Produced by The Cross and Justin Shirley-smith (small letter), no dot; the next line has dot, after Martin Groves no dot etc. BR LINER NOTES - The event will celebrate 20 years since the five musicians met. (mentioned here befoore) - credits from Discogs (mentioned here before) HAPPINESS LINER NOTES -(..) in the title track 'Happiness' released on 7" green vinyl, 12" picture disc, cassette and CD - never heard of a cassette release of this single. -'Voodoo Chile' when he in fact plays live 'Voodoo Child' - 'Voodoo Chile' is an instrumental version. -symbols in credits for musicians (as mentioned here before) and the copyrights inside the musicians list - publicity: roxy meade, scott riseman lipsey meade (no comma) EF LINER NOTES - author of the book 'The Horse Whisperers' - the book's title is 'The Horse Whisperer' (no 's') - Jonathan Perkins from the band Miss World also added vocals and keyboards to 'Surrender', 'People On Streets' and 'The Whisperes' - he added vocals +keys to the first song, and only keys to the second and third. - painting by Tim Hara - Tim Mara it is - 'Tonight' (dub Sangria) - small letter - (...) featuring live versions of 'Surrender', 'No More Fun', 'Tonight' and 'Surrender' - should say for the last song 'Surrender' video. - In March 1995, Roger and his band took to the road - March 1999 - Missing lyrics to 4 first songs (as mentioned before) - no track by track info of musicians included in each song FOE LINER NOTES - copyrights in other font - poor quality of RT with guitar photo (or should it be like that?!) ROGER TAYLOR: THE SINGLES - Pressure On - The original version appears on 'Happiness?' - Dear Mr Murdoch Originally contained on the 'Electric Fire' album of 1994 (and '2011 version' not added) - Woman You're So Beautiful -released on 12" promotional single - never heard of that, only CD promo was issued - no Let's Get Crazy, Felix + Arty and Dear Mr Murdoch 2011 single cover THE CROSS: THE SINGLES - Man On Fire - (..) in Germany only on /8/91 instead of 9/8/91 - Heartland Lead vocals by Clayton Moss. - I think it is Peter Noone, he is the author of this song and I think it's his voice. - no Final Destination and Life Changes single cover THAT'S ALL FROM ME NOW |

Well how could so many typos end on the final version of the box? If the original written file was so researched with care and hard work (as GT stated) I don't know how a (supposedly) simple cut & paste could screw up so many things. In the end the ones to blame are the fans, me included, who kept and keep buying amateurish products. And by the way who cares? As GT said enjoy the music ...on a crappy product P.S. I'm not blaming GT for the end result of 'The Lot'...certainly his "as long as you have the music who cares?" philosophy got me pissed off |

RMT Fan: Thanks for your list; excellent work. The grammatical and punctuation errors really annoy me (and that's without the additional actual factual errors you have listed too!). Most of the errors are avoidable with just a basic level of proof reading, which I think we can categorically state now simply doesn't take place. Would be interesting to see if these are corrected in the 'fixed' version, but as GB has said they are probably at the printers already, I fear not. Cheers |

Not an error, but a remark: on "I Can Take You Higher", after the first choruses end, I am 100% sure that there is a cut of some kind, therefore we got an edited version. If you listen (not so) closely, you will notice an abrupt change between the choruses and the second verse, exactly at 0:58. Perhaps it's not an actual cut but an hybrid of two takes, edited for the "Lot" (alas "Lady With A Tenor Sax"). |
audhild1984 17.11.2013 11:51 |
THE CROSS: THE SINGLES text notes - Man On Fire - The original version appears on the album 'Mad: Bad: And Dangerous To Know'. (That should be 'Strange Frontier') The tracks order of The Cross Singles 1 seems strange to me: why extended versions of Manipulator and Power to Love precede the single versions? |

Probably not an error per se, but the ending of "Dear Mr Murdoch" on Happiness features a slightly longer sax section. It repeats the last notes and fades out improvising. |
cmi 18.11.2013 11:37 |

Finally got some sort of confirmation from the suppliers. It read bottom to top as it was an email. Dear NJ These are being addressed and amended yes. Thanks Emma From: NJ Date: Sunday, 17 November 2013 22:11 To: Emma Fulford Subject: RE: Roger Taylor - The Lot Hi Emma, Can you confirm yet if all the error's on the lot box set have been fixed yet. Please see the below list of all known issues so far regards NJ Disc Errors: 1.) Track index marker error on track 9 of Shove It. 2.) Pressure On (Electric Fire): wrong mix. No 2nd voice for half of the first chorus. (01:58 - 02:07) 3.) Wrong running order of FOE bonus tracks: "Whole House Rockin'" plays first, "Dear Mr. Murdoch" comes second. 4.) There are some complaints of juddering video on the DVD 5.) Life Changes (Blue Rock) the song suddenly stops, and then the first seconds of the song start again. 6.) Shove It (extended mix) with track duration 5:02 should have been on 'The Cross Singles 1' disc, but instead it has 'The 2nd Shelf Mix' with track duration 5:55. 7.) I Can't Get You Out Of My Head unfortunately has count-in chords badly edited out, causing a slight cut to the beginning of the song. 8.) Celebration is abridged version. 1:45-2:25 fragment of the original 5:15 track is edited out. 9.) Track index marker error on track 3 of Happiness. 10.) Huge speed issue on 'My Country I & II' track. Track runs 10 seconds longer (slower) also there are two noticeable issues of speed change: first at the very start and the second one is around 5:20. The whole Fun In Space album runs slower than 1996 remaster. 11.) Some reports of missing/duplicate discs Text Errors: 1.) The lyrics to the first four songs of Electric Fire are missing in the book (it starts with "People on streets") 2.) Incorrect spelling of 'Holocaust' 3.) The credits from 'Blue Rock' are directly taken from Discogs.com , including the (2) suffix for Peter Noone and the ANV-asteriks for Josh Macrae 4.) Wrong information - The book states Dear Mr Murdoch originally featured on the 1994 album "Electric Fire". 5.) In his foreword, final sentence, Rhys talks about a "cole" instead of "collection". 6.) In the track listing of the Cross-singles, last track (Shove it US), it is stated that the inclusion is a last minute "edition" instead of "addition". 7.) The DVD notes incorrectly state that both versions of the "Power to Love" video are included (or perhaps one is actually missing from the disc?) |

If it doesn't ship this weekend (yes, I have received several emails telling me I am guaranteed to get it Monday) I am going to be stuck. 90% of the product is sold to the existing Queen fan base in the first week of release. If the first edition runs out quickly enough, they might make a few thousand extra copies but that's it. If you're extremely lucky, they will actually correct all the known mistakes of the set before making those extra copies (which could take more than six weeks, especially during the Christmas time), but I wouldn't count on it. I also wouldn't count on Greg giving any reliable answers, especially on matters regarding release schedules. |

Ha, interesting. I've ordered my copy on 31.10.2013. and the order status was NOT YET DISPATCHED, until today when it changed to PRE-ORDERED- release date 25.11.2013. Hope I don't get get faulty one... |
Cockeye 24.11.2013 14:18 |
We ain't getting it tomorrow are we.......:( Time to cancel the order I think :( They must have been told by someone they were getting it in......very strange. |
Pingfah 25.11.2013 02:42 |
They told me yesterday evening it had actually entered dispatch. Then 4 hours later I get an auto-email saying they are still trying to get it from the manufacturer. Now my order says they need more time to provide a delivery date! |
Pingfah 25.11.2013 04:31 |
Confirmation from Amazon that they were talking bollocks. This never entered dispatch and they still do not have the product. |
Agr12345 25.11.2013 05:12 |
If i were to buy this box (and i'm going to do it) i would wait until 11th December. This is the last confirmed date given for the corrected edition... Just to avoid any "old" box... |
cmsdrums 25.11.2013 11:55 |
I've got the 'it's now delayed and we don't know when we'll have it but will send it as soon as we can' message from Amazon. To be honest, I'd rather that and get a fully corrected box based on our observations here, than get one that is still the wrong original stock. |
Pingfah 26.11.2013 07:54 |
3rd December they are now saying. Assume this is the corrected version, no way of knowing particularly, but you have to think they haven't spent 3 weeks reprinting stock they know is faulty. That said, really nothing would surprise me regarding this release. |
Cockeye 26.11.2013 14:31 |

Oops ... I just looked at my Amazon.ca invoice and it states that it will arrive after X-mas. HOWEVER ... I got an e-mail reply from Emma at Universal stating that the box set will be available Dec 11th and she could arrange to have a copy sent to me if I provided my amazon.ca receipt. I just replied to her and attached my receipt a few minutes ago ... My fingers are crossed. |

Th re-release date is meant to be 3rd December, not 25th November. Odd, considering that's a Tuesday, but that's the date. What else can be said about this tiresome subject? |

This only my opinion, but I think there is now some kind of issue with the master tapes from the Fun In Space era. It sounds to me like some sort of contamination or tape stretch. |
Cockeye 30.11.2013 13:33 |
The future management track is appalling. Really sounds bad - as you said no such issue on my 1996 remaster CD |

^ Treasure your 1996 remaster, as I do mine! More updates on post #1 |
Rien 30.11.2013 14:43 |
So if I understand post #1 correctly, only Shove It, Blue Rock and Electric Fire will be replaced. About My Country I & II: Emma said that the slower version is equal to the vinyl version and the version on the previous cd is too fast. I think this thread has helped all buyers to get their discs replaced. I don't really mind errors in the book as much as errors on the discs, so I'll be more or less satisfied by replacing those cd's. |
. 30.11.2013 14:51 |
^ Since nobody has actually stated which discs have been 'fixed', I can only comment on ALL the discs that have now been received as actual replacements. Unless there is another update, these may well be what you will receive in the next batch. |

I've not even bothered with the box yet, not even for the novelty or potential collector investment. Seeing all the problems listed really put me off. My parents gave me money to buy stuff in for Christmas as they weren't sure what to get me - the fact that I came back with the Columbo complete box, Family Guy season 12 and the new Morecambe and Wise BBC collection when I had a chance to get the RT box on the cheap (local record shop couldn't shift it because of the errors) says it all. |

The only viable solution to this is to offer the set up as a high quality download to all those who have purchased the set already - and for free. For those who HAVEN'T purchased it, the download should be made available too but at a nominal charge. The whole thing is a fiasco and a complete embarasment. |

And it's usually cheaper to buy a single album from eBay than e.g. the QOL store, so there is a profit to be made. For The Lot, there was a market a month ago when it still wasn't available in the stores, but the market has died down with all the errors and reports of replacements. Nobody wants to buy a faulty secondhand product with no possibility of replacement, do they?? Track index marker error on track 9 of Shove It. (Corrected on replacement disc) 4.) There are some complaints of juddering video on the DVD (Not a disc error - not taken from the masters!) 5.) Speed change issue on Fun In Space - 'My Country I & II' track and Fun In Space. 6.) Speed change issue RT Solo singles Disc 1 - 'My Country' (single version) 7.) Magic Is Loose is 6 seconds shorter, it seems to miss a part of the final fading. 8.) I Can't Get You Out Of My Head - unfortunately has count-in chords badly edited out, causing a slight cut to the beginning of the song. 9.) Shove It (extended mix) with track duration 5:02 should have been on 'The Cross Singles 1' disc, but instead it has 'The 2nd Shelf Mix' with track duration 5:55. 11.) Slight Track index marker error on track 3 of Happiness. 12.) Roger - The singles disc 2 gives track info ID for disc 1 13.) Some reports of missing/duplicate discs Text Errors reported: 1.) The lyrics to the first four songs of Electric Fire are missing in the book (it starts with "People on streets") 2.) Incorrect spelling of 'Holocaust' 3.) The credits from 'Blue Rock' are directly taken from Discogs.com, including the (2) suffix for Peter Noone and the ANV-asteriks for Josh Macrae 4.) Wrong information - The book states Dear Mr Murdoch originally featured on the 1994 album "Electric Fire". 5.) In his foreword, final sentence, Rhys talks about a "cole" instead of "collection". 6.) In the track listing of the Cross-singles, last track (Shove it US), it is stated that the inclusion is a last minute "edition" instead of "addition". 7.) The DVD notes incorrectly state that both versions of the "Power to Love" video are included (or perhaps one is actually missing from the disc?) 8.) Happiness Credits - The graphic symbols on the original credits near each musician's name that identified who played in each song are substituted in The Lot booklet by letters such as "R", "a", "v" and even "@"! And anyway they are useless because they should have been reported also after each song's lyric. In the middle of the musicians names they put the copyright credits! 9.) RMT Fan has found and posted a host of small errors - Scroll down on this Link 10.) THE CROSS: THE SINGLES text notes - Man On Fire - The original version appears on the album 'Mad: Bad: And Dangerous To Know'. (That should be 'Strange Frontier') 11.) Wrong running order of FOE bonus tracks: "Whole House Rockin'" plays first, "Dear Mr. Murdoch" comes second.I got my replacement CDs today and the corrections are in place ((some of the others mentioned like "My Country" are not mistakes but corrections from the 1996 remasters.) One thing to note, Roger The Singles Disc #2 still gives the wrong CD title ID (listed as Disc 1) HOWEVER it now gives the correct track listing. Least that's how it showed on my computer anyway. |

Only when all the previous customers are reasonably satisfied with their replacement products, can they ship the rest of the boxes to stores to recoup some of their losses. |

Replacing the discs will cost Universal less than £5, while a whole new box set (shipping inluded) would cost ten times as much. It seems that they are attempting to minimise their losses by only replacing exactly what has been asked. |

Hi, chaps long term lurker here haven’t posted in about 12 years. But this has really got my goat. I preordered this from amazon on the 27th October, when I didn’t receive it on the 11th of November I contacted amazon they said, that they only had limited stock, and had been dispatched on a first come, first serve basis, but definitely in stock for the 25th. Contacted amazon late on the 24th and suggested that I wouldn’t get it on the Monday, “oh no sir you will definitely get it tomorrow “was the reply. When it didn’t arrive. I contacted them again, “we have no arrival date for stock of this item”. Two days later get an email saying I would get it on the 16th or 17th of December. So, guess what, just been on the phone apparently they never received any stock, but “would be definitely getting it on the 6th of January”. Can’t wait for that phone call. My question here is, has anyone received a box set from amazon.co.uk, after the 11th of November? And if so did they order it before, or after me on the 27th October. Really grinding my gears this one. Apologies for the bad grammar. Really angry. |
Pingfah 16.12.2013 13:01 |
That's basically the exact sequence of dates and events I have experienced. It isn't Amazon's fault I don't think, they can only go on what Universal are telling them, who presumably are working from whatever information is coming from the team responsible for creating (and correcting) the product. |
Cockeye 16.12.2013 13:04 |
Pleb - someone on here posted they got their set the other day and they ordered after you (but before me). Just sent this to Emma : Hi Emma. Before I start, please don't take anything I am about to say as being against you. You have been really really helpful all the way through this debacle and if everyone involved had your customer centric attitude then I wouldn't be about to write what I am about to write. I got contact from amazon today who confirmed that yet again the record company promised them stock and then didn't deliver. That's three times now. I have been a Queen fan for so long I actually saw them live with Freddie, and the amount of money I have poured into the coffers over the years with box sets, limited editions, re-releases, re-masters etc etc. It just seems lately that the concern for fans has got less and less and the quality of releases poorer and poorer. I didn't think I'd ever see a Roger Taylor release like this, and his work (the best body of solo work anyone In the band has produced) deserves better than such a poor release. I was so excited when it was announced, and the whole thing has just gone sour. And the lack of information given to fans is just typical of the lack of consideration. Promises of releases not fulfilled, people like me (and many others on forums) just desperate for some information. Will we get it for Christmas presents or not? People are just being kept in the dark. I just feel that whoever is in charge of releases like this think the fans will just put up with it. This was my birthday present to myself, and I feel now like I'm almost begging (Roger? the record company?) to take my money and sell me something. I am afraid I am no longer going to bother. I am fed up with feeling that I am hassling you, and daily refreshing of my amazon page, and pleading for some nugget of information, or begging to be allowed to buy a product. I have cancelled my order and it seems clear that if Queen Online had any concept of customer service they would have reserved a copy as you had requested. I am really quite sad. I know that the band is a company and a corporation and one person taking this action is going to make no difference - but I am really totally and completely disillusioned with Queen and related releases. A feeling that has been building for some time. But this debacle has put me over the edge. Thanks anyway. You have been very helpful :) |
Pleb 16.12.2013 13:49 |
Quite sad about this release, it promised so much. My amazon account still says due tomorrow. Even though their customer rep says they didn’t receive any stock. I realise that it is Universal that’s responsible for getting their stock to amazon, but with amazon’s buying power you would think they could put some pressure on universal. And nail them down to a definite release date. My only option at the minute is downloading from iTunes, but the thought of giving money to apple. Makes me even angrier. Got most of this stuff on vinyl anyway. Just have to keep listening the old fashioned way. Sorry that you’re so disillusioned cockeye. |

I have to say that Amazon.co.uk are utterly unprofessional and full of shit. I too got that same email saying they are trying to obtain stock and it's a crock of shit. I checked their listings today for The Lot and it clearly said x number of copies in stock and the sales price was £138! It seems to me that they've received stock and instead of honouring and fulfilling cheaper pre-orders, they've decided to flog them at a higher price to anyone who ordered today. |
Cockeye 16.12.2013 18:14 |
You're talking bullshit. There are two in stock at that price and they are being sold by a third party seller in Berlin. It's made perfectly clear. |

Cockeye wrote: You're talking bullshit. There are two in stock at that price and they are being sold by a third party seller in Berlin. It's made perfectly clear.Hang on mate. The listing said Amazon had it in stock, not some seller in Berlin. If I do a search for it now I get nothing because the listing has been pulled. EDIT: I've just done another search and have found the Berlin listings by choosing the "Audio CD" link next to the digital sales listing. Those are £162, not £138. |
Cockeye 16.12.2013 18:49 |
But amazon never state stock levels in unless they have very few left. They did have it VERY briefly at £138 a few weeks ago but only for a day or so. I would suggest you were maybe seeing a cached page? |
Pingfah 17.12.2013 03:06 |
Yesterday it was available from a marketplace seller for £138, it had a green "only 2 left in stock" message, but it said something like "in stock and sold and dispatched by Hurricane Records". Later on it went up to £162, that was when there were only used copies left. Amazon were not selling it themselves for £138 yesterday. |
Cockeye 17.12.2013 07:27 |

I don't think so. Two weeks ago the QOL store promised me a replacement around mid-December, and today it's been sent. I would like to think that Amazon was promised a new batch of corrected product "as soon as possible" (with no definite date), and they merely hoped to have the item sooner. |

Thank you. I hope everyone who wants one eventually gets a 'corrected' box set. The purpose of this thread was to highlight the errors and to hopefully assist in getting them corrected. I think you can all give yourselves a pat on the back in that respect as it seems to have paid off, albeit somewhat partially. |

Emma was responsible for this. Perhaps not directly but she hadn't been aware of the issue with amazon stock and the constant promises. She emailed me today and said shed been directly onto Universal and they had assured her they'd get stock to them this week. She emailed me to tell me I could order from there. She's a star and I think she deserves a LOT of credit for those of is who are now getting our amazon stock shipped. |

My box arrived yesterday - based on the booklet, I have received the corrected one. Strangely though the plain cardboard box theat the set was protected in has a bar code sticketr on it which is date marked 5 December; has the corrected version been available since then but taken two weeks to get from universal to Amazon?!? My first thought when listening to Fun On Earth is that if 'Quality Street' was one of the better tracks to make the final choice of tracks, how bad must the cast-offs be?!!! I am admittedly only halfway through my first listen to FOE, but so far I;m pretty disappointed that Roger seems to have forsaken a good tune/melody on a few songs, and replaced this with his often favoured low pitched, almost spoken/whispered vocal delivery (a Bowie-eque imitation??) Sorry to sound so negative, but it's not doing anything for me as yet.....but looking forward to going through all the other remasted stuff. The actual box itself is a nice set - as others have stated, bigger than expected, but well packaged and looks nice as a 'coffee table' type collection. |

Lately I am trying to not give an opinion about new music until I've listened to it at least a few times. I think it would be very boring if new music would hit us in the face instantly. . 21.12.2013 09:07 |
^ Since there is no gap between the tracks I don't think there is too much to complain about. I'll list it in post #1 anyway, as a similar index marker error is already listed for track 3 of Happiness. As Happiness was not 'corrected', I don't think this one would have been either. Well spotted though. |
N1ghtjar 21.12.2013 12:01 |

I have not posted on here for SO long even though I visit everyday. The main reason is because of all the bitching and the school playground mentality of a few on here which is such a shame when there are some brilliant and knowledgeable contributors. I have to say this thread has been excellent and I have to congratulate everyone involved and in particular Victor Kruger...good work guys. I ordered my box from Amazon.co.uk on 27th October and received it Thursday 19th December. Due to circumstances I won't bore you with I will only be opening it today. I really couldn't believe some of the basic errors that occurred in this set and the lack of quality control at all stages but it seems like box 2 is a massive step in the right direction and again well done to you guys for raising the issues. I really never thought we would ever have a Roger Taylor box set so I must say I am still very happy to have just received it and it looks fab. Let's hope lessons can be learned from this release (although that's a big ask) and that some day we may get some Queen releases that we the fans deserve and the bands legacy commands. Keep up the good work chaps, I'm off to open my box! |
inu-liger 22.12.2013 07:27 |
Probably not worth reporting as an error so much since what I'm about to mention can't be easily fixed, but thought I should mention that "I Wanna Testify" seems to suffer from tape 'print-through' (sadly an issue with whatever batch of tapes they were using in '77, as you can now hear in recent multi-track transfers), as you can faintly hear a few seconds of the song coming in a few seconds earlier in real time during the quieter parts. |
inu-liger 22.12.2013 07:47 |

There is a sticker on the outer carton (not on the box itself but the carton it is shipped in). If the date on that sticker states December 5th then it is the new edition. Think that the first edition shows an October date on the sticker. If it doesnt come with that brown carton then check the back of the box itself. If it says "Blue Rock" in the DVD tracklisting than it is the first edition, if it says "Blue Rock - EPK" than it is the second edition. They also swapped tracks 14 & 15 in the tracklist for the Fun On Earth album. |

When you place both editions side by side you notice that the cover of the 2nd edition is a little lighter than the first. |

Hi there, I wonder if the replacement is only given to those living in the UK? A friend of mine also has the "defective" 1st edition whereas me having the new one as mine was delivered only two weeks ago via amazon Germany. I wrote Melissa Noble @ Universal last Monday (found her email address here) as my contact at Universal Germany never replied in this matter. Any reply would be greatly appreciated. Happy New Year to all Queen fans around the globe. Hans from Germany |

JohnJamesKessy wrote: Hi there, I wonder if the replacement is only given to those living in the UK?No, I received a replacement here in Finland. At first I contacted Universal, and they told me that QOL store where I bought it would send me a replacement. Because of my location (and the return postage being about half of the sale price), I wasn't asked to return the first box. |

I'm in the Netherlands, ordered through Amazon.co.uk and received a replacement from Universal UK. |
NCC1701Q 02.01.2014 23:18 |
Pim, did you have to send the first box back? |
zephead2112 03.01.2014 03:21 |
I've sent 4 e-mails now to the relevant parties (including Michelle) and I have not received one reply. Pretty poor when you consider that I pre-ordered my box from QOL on the first day it was listed in the shop (23rd October). Is anyone else in a similar position still waiting for a response? Having loyally purchased Queen product (and a lot of it) for 35 years, it's a bit frustrating when others have already received their replacement discs and you're left without even a courtesy acknowledgement to an e-mail. |

I hope you paid by credit card as well. |

So glad that i sent my original copy of The Lot with errors back to Amazon.Used their ring back option on Amazon, spoke to an advisor and then waited ,remained calm and got my 2nd edition copy in time for Christmas for under £80.I think a lot of people seemed on the verge of a nervous breakdown over this release.I do hope though that we dont have to go through this with the next rumoured Queen release !! |

It seems unlikely given how helpful they've been with other people that they would ignore you. They replied to me and I wasn't even asking for anything, I was just complaining at them! Perhaps your emails are not getting through, or going into spam by mistake or something. Try using a relative's email address instead. |

Bloody hell Queen Online have complety sold out of The Lot and its over £200 from third party sellers on Amazon. |
Agr12345 21.01.2014 15:13 |
Maybe i shouldn't say this but... If you search a little, you will find some torrents which contains all box set in flac format, the complete DVD and scans of every page of the book. |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 21.01.2014 19:57 |
Try Amazon Canada, Philip. They still have it at a reasonable price. Cheers, Ogre- |

Thanks for the info ,i got my Lot set second edition for £76 from amazon.I was just wondering how high the price will go and another thing i am interrested in is how well has The Lot sold and how many copies of FOE sold and did it get into the charts? |

I think The Lot would have charted if the release hadn't been bungled. If they had been able to ship all the preorders on release week, I think it would have done well. It was higher on the Amazon bestsellers list than FoE for the 2 weeks preceding its release. |

So what to do to get a error-free box set? I ordered the first edition at release. Now I stumbled upon this discussion and wrote to the mentioned Email (Michelle.noble@umusic.com) regarding a replacement or any other solution. Nothing happended. The set is sold out - so I can't send it back to amazon... Bad luck? |
inu-liger 22.01.2014 19:32 |
Try e-mailing Emma from an alternate e-mail address/service. By other accounts she's supposed to be fairly prompt in responding, so it could be an issue with your e-mail service. |
AlexRocks 23.01.2014 12:25 |
Sooo is it that it is out print already or something else? |
JeroenG 20.02.2014 04:14 |
It took some time and E-mail contact with Emma, but today I finally received a new error-free 'The Lot'-box. Not only the replacement discs, but a complete new boxset, and totally for free. With very many thanks to Emma. She said that officially it is out of print by now, but tried to get a set for me after all, and she succeeded. I'm happy now, because I can finally listen to 'The Lot' without all the errors. |
AlexRocks 20.02.2014 12:34 |
Wha?!! Already?! Are they not going to make any more?! |
inu-liger 20.02.2014 13:55 |
You know, with the massive cock ups that happened with this set, it should have never went out of print so soon. No wonder illegal downloading is so rampant these days...record companies just do NOT have a fucking clue any more! Luckily I bought mine from Michael Allred when I did, with the original slipcase & booklet but the replacement discs, which I'm alright with. Got a FLAC copy of the "Pressure On" alternate mix, so I'm not as flustered now with trying to get the original discs.* *That being said, feel free to send me an offer anyways if any of you out there got the replacement discs and wouldn't mind parting with the original 1st press error CD's :-) |

I was surprised when I didn't hear a sample "one night stand" on a track "London Town come'n down" from Electric fire, album 2013 remaster. Any guesses? |

It's not a part of the 'LT-CD' track and even not the part of the album. vinyl doesn't include it. it's simply a password for One Night Stand remixing contest from the official site back in 1998. On the Japanese CD for example, the password sample is after last bonus track. |
