SHIT
| splicksplack 21.09.2013 19:20 |
So that's what some of us are happy with is it? Cabaret style rock with interplay between a shrieking "keep me in focus" twat and some old fella who is far better utilised and more productive these days in the fields of England. The audience looked polite but really bemused. Please stop this shit now.Because you're killing my happy teenage memories for the sake of a few more dollars. I'm afraid it is a young mans game. Roger and Brian, you both looked out of puff, out of ideas and, ultimately out of your league. I don't like AL but he is a current artist and means some misguided thing to the crowd. Apart from the hard core no-one gives a shit about Queen anymore in the States. Come home. Shut up. |
| Thistle 21.09.2013 19:46 |
I think you're a wee bit off the mark there. I'd echo some of those thoughts with regard to the badger song and collaborations with PSY and Dappy, but to call the guys out of puff, ideas etc is a tad harsh. Of course, you're entitled to your opinion, but telling them to come home and shut up? At the end of the day, you are not obliged to listen or watch. If you know it's not for you, then don't put yourself through it. Easy. I avoid the AL stuff because I personally don't rate the guy at all, but watched some of the footage for the Fun/Nate performance. It was below par, but Brian and roger certainly weren't. Brian, in particular, put in a classy performance, and that's great to hear. |
| Hangman_96 22.09.2013 08:19 |
Well put, splicksplack. It was even nice to see them perform with Paul Rodgers back in those days. Fine by me. But what's happening these days is nothing short of shit. I don't even want to see a single bit of that recent performance they did with AL. And it's pretty sad that you can't go back in time to those beautiful Freddie times, however stupid it may sound. |
| matt z 22.09.2013 08:34 |
Yeah it is sort of cabaret and pretty v much like guns and roses are now. Their own respective best tribute band in the world. It really wasnt bad but it's clear they're both assisting each other here. Adam gets lessons with great material. Brian and Roger keep getting paid and get more exposure but I'm CERTAIN a great part of it is also that THEY WANT TO PLAY |

Vocal harmony wrote: Lostman how can you agree with someones view when in your post you've said that you haven't seen the gig.But I've seen other gigs. I saw that Kiev concert in June last year live on TV. Hell, I was getting mad at times back then because I knew I wouldn't manage to get there to see them live! And I was irritated because I had once missed their massive concert in my hometown, and I had then promised myself that if they were touring once again (not even in my hometown, but somewhere near in my country) I would certainly go to see them this time. I even had complimentary tickets, which meant I would be allowed to stay in the fanzone. But things frankly didn't turn out fine for me that time around, again. But know what? Having seen that Kiev concert on TV, I came to the conclusion that I was quite disappointed. I just didn't like it. To be honest, I had been expecting something 2008-like, just like that awesome show in my hometown five years ago, but personally for me it wasn't anything of the like. I don't regret not managing to get there last year, but I still do regret not seeing them live in 2008. I have given up, and since then I am no longer interested. |

I wouldn't deny anyone the right to make music. The problem is when you perform and look like you need a sit down. Or you're hoping your knee will hold out. It's just not dynamic. Performance is more than a massive PA and lights (as Freddie proved over hundreds of his peers). I know it's hard to face but without Freddie there is just no Queen show. And especially so when the half still attempting it are on the fast track to 70 years old. Rock and pop was always the preserve of the young until the young started getting older and needed to keep paying the mortgage. Now it's beyond that. It's pure unadultarated ego. I mean what the hell are they trying to prove? It seems so pointless. Knocking out your hits again and again like some bloody 80's end-of-the-pier show. |

finally someone who hit the point, ...and is not afraid to share it......( while he can expect the most idiot reactions..) Ive been a huge Queen fan from 1974 till the tragic death of fred., after that i spit on the filosofy that my heroes ...heroes since my teenager years..., do everything and anything possible to make money..money and more money...not only with the imbecile rerererereleases of almost everything....the far over the top QUEEN +.....concerts,....and even now my old hero Rog will release all of his dramatically bad solo and Cross stuff. ..for one goal...MORE MONEY..., and beside that....oh my god.....he will also release a new solo project. Roger Taylor...in my humble opinion one of the best drummers of the world, but to be honest..a terrible singer and songwriter. His best songs written by him were under the Queen banner. Would i say this way back in 1974, 75...76 ?...Rog a bad songwriter...oh no.....don't touch one of my heroes.......and than there was..Fun in Space...ok, his first compleet solo effort...we had to deal with it.and he is the drummer of the best band in the world......great promotion campaign, great artwork..but the music?...so so...,( !! Frontier....to be honest....nice album, some great tunes...together with the release of our bands new album..a nice couple. !! But after that......my god...if the name Roger taylor was withdrawn from the cd covers, not anyone on this whole planet would pay any attention on all of his solo material...and it's the same with his Cross project....just an ordinairy rock n roll cafe band.. And now Rog and Bri will rework some old tunes with Fred....if it turns out that bad...( forget the sentiments please..) as Made in Heaven......and i'm afraid it will be...listening right now to Rogs latest single.....i'll trow the towel in the ring. .Don't judge me just for my feelings and thoughts and my bad english...if you do ..sodd you!! with regards and greets from Belgium. | Vocal harmony 23.09.2013 20:34 |
It's nothing like Justin Beiber. The problem some people seem to have is that life doesn't stand still and everything changes no matter what. Yes if you wish to you can sit in a cold dark room and pretend nothing has changed, but if you want to live you need to grow, evolve and change to suit the world around you. When Mr Bad Guy was released, if it had sold in Michael Jackson quantities, which is what CBS had thought it would. The advance for that one record was bigger than EMI had ever paid Queen, do you really think Freddie would have made another Queen album. BM and RT spent a long time doing very little Queen stuff for years. They abandoned plans to tour in the late 90's because the singer had to many other commitments. Six years later things fell into place with Paul Rodgers, now it's Adam Lambert. They have always stayed clear of replacing Freddie hence the Q+ billing. As for them being to old and Rock n Roll being a young guys game, that's crap. in the 50's and 60's Rock n Roll was the young guys thing because it was new, as was Jazz in the 20's and 30's. Music like any art form changes and it's usually younger people who bring something new. That doesn't automatically mean that all that's gone before is rubbish, and it doesn't mean that as musicians, or artists, get older they should stop being artists and retire into obscurity. |
| Apocalipsis_Darko 23.09.2013 21:02 |
The problem, to me, is the name. They still can play around the world, and I don't think they need the money...but, not under the name of Queen (remember John Deacon). They can do a lot of interesting music, but not with that name and that collaborations -it's not only Adam Lambert, is the Fun singer, is FIVE (a fuckin boy band), the girl from the olimpic games (I don't know her name, but for sure, she doesn't have the tallent of the missed Amy Winehouse who changed some things into the sweet soul music with Daptone Records), etc-... If Brian and Roger would like to play with manufactured artist, well, I respect that, is their decission. The problem is the name, and for me is not valid Queen+...that's a perfect excuse. The Queen situation was not like The Doors in the 70's (they did two albums after Morrison left this dimension, not masterpiece, but good records ), or AC/DC. Is very different. The perfect example. Under Pressure needed a remix like Rahmix? No. Is fucking a greatest song. Not everybody does good remixes like Trent Reznor, or sampling vocals on a new song like Fat Boy Slim did with Jim Morrison lines in Sunset (Bird of prey). I find more interesting Brian playing with Tony Iommy album, or with Tangerine Dream that listening the bizzare flash adaptation to save the budgets. But, if he also like collaborate with manufactured artist without soul, ok, is his solo career. Again, is the name. Queen were four members, not two. When they played The FM tribute, they didnt announce as a Queen concert, not even in the vhs realeased. Later, with the dvd, yes. |

Good post Apocalipsis_Darko. Lots of good thoughts here. Once you get past the craziness of "I'm older so I'm a better fan", or "they were awesome with Adam, they should do albums and tours!!!" you have the reality. For a 16 year old, they are Queen. For me at 50+ they can't be. I saw them when they were an awesome band, creative giants and monsters with an enormous sound when playing live. Today it's like watching an old timers sports game. Lots of nice memories, but it can't be what it was. I understand why they are doing it, but I often feel how Brian would feel if Roger wanted to tour and do one offs if Brian couldn't play due to knee issues, and found a younger, "technically better" Brian online like Journey did with their singer. I would bet the farm he'd be fucking pissed beyond belief if Roger called the new guy "brilliant", and able to do things technically that Roger had never seen. Bottom line for me though is I don't care what they do. I'm not waiting to die because I don't buy into Paul Rodgers or Jesse J or Adam Lambert playing with Queen. Lots of good things in the vault, that interests me and lots of others. Playing songs that are 25 to 35 years old isn't being relevant. What's left of Queen is a really good tribute band. Great that they want to play, but regardless of Brian's apparent good playing, a lot of people don't give a toss. That's the saddest thing of all, memories and warm fuzzy feelings aside. One of three best bands ever is now a bit of a joke to lots of people. |

Adam Lambert is a bird which accidentally flew into the camp of the brand under the name "Queen" ,that's all! If would not Brian and Roger, Adam Lambert would have stayed mediocre pop singer. He does not have stunning vocal and charisma like Freddie! All that said about him Brian and Roger is just the respect and not enthusiasm for his vocal abilities! |

I only hope that John would have had the integrity of his name-sake, that he would have gotten a court order stopping the abuse of his band's name. Not compare Ian Astbury with Adam Lambert... Astbury did a very good job in Riders on the Storm. And he had a long career. The Cult signed some of the most best albums of british rock, like Love (more goth) or Electric (more hard rock). Also, he was the precursor of Lolapalloza with the festival Gathering in the tribes, he collaborated with such a good bands or artist like Debbie Harry, Fuzztones, Boris, The Mission, Beastie Boys, UNKLE.... About the name, Brian May & Roger Taylor + would be perfect. |

It only sounds like bollocks because you don't know the facts In 98 they talked in depth with Robbie Williams about uk and European dates, it actually got to the stage of talking to promoters. At one of his shows around that time Williams even told the audience he was joining Queen. That comment led to BM and RT taking a step back.
