Queen Tokyo, Japan Yoyogi National Gymnasium May 11, 1985 Yes, yes ... I know this is an official release. But if the official release had better audio, this recording would be obsolete. So I reckon it should circulate. If anyone is still running this website and they want me to pull the links, I'll oblige. To my ears this is the best-sounding document of the show, better than any bootleg and even the official releases (the keyboard-heavy, almost guitar-less mix). Some versions are missing the first half of Liar and all of Dragon Attack, but both are intact on this radio broadcast. For those of us whose native language isn't Japanese, the DJ listing off the song titles during the Machines intro is worth the price of admission alone. Thanks to Mr. Scully (link for supplying the recording. Radio > Cassette (0) > ? > CDR (x) > WAV > FLAC level 8 Disc 1: 1. Machines (intro) 2. Tear It Up 3. Tie Your Mother Down 4. Under Pressure 5. Somebody To Love 6. Killer Queen 7. Seven Seas Of Rhye 8. Keep Yourself Alive 9. Liar 10. impromptu 11. It's A Hard Life 12. Dragon Attack 13. Now I'm Here Disc 2: 1. Is This The World We Created? 2. Love Of My Life 3. Another One Bites The Dust 4. Mustapha (intro) 5. Hammer To Fall 6. Crazy Little Thing Called Love 7. Bohemian Rhapsody 9. Radio Ga Ga 9. I Want To Break Free 10. Jailhouse Rock 11. We Will Rock You 12. We Are The Champions 13. God Save The Queen link Enjoy, and convert to lossy only for your own (ab)use! |

Oh thank you! It's interesting if Brighton Rock was played this night or it was omitted from broadcast and official video? |
Gregsynth 18.09.2013 22:32 |
The guitar solo and the Brighton Rock are omitted on all the sources of this show (including this one). Pretty underrated show overall: Awesome Impromptu (one of the best), Radio Ga Ga is great, It's A Hard Life is pretty gutsy from Freddie (going for a decent amount of Bb4s), and Tear It Up's one of the better versions from the tour. So glad we got this show in the best possible quality, thanks Bob/Mr. Scully! |
Gregsynth 18.09.2013 22:33 |
Also forgot, Hammer To Fall is great (great bridge vocals by Freddie)! |
The Real Wizard 18.09.2013 22:38 |
Definitive version of Dragon Attack too, I'd say. The impromptu is even better on video. Mercury owns it. |

cmi wrote: It's interesting if Brighton Rock was played this night or it was omitted from broadcast and official video?I'm inclined to think it was performed. thefallenqueen wrote: hope it's not the same Mr. Scully who's lost his passion for Queen and is now taping and sharing Bon Jovi gigs on Dime :-(Looks like it is. link Bon Jovi were a great band. And I say "were" because Richie Sambora quit, and as far as I'm concerned he was the band. His backing vocals are at least as important as Jon's (ailing) voice. If I had tickets to see a show and heard he quit, I'd want a refund. A lot of people are on that boat. That said, it's cool that they're digging up tunes from These Days, the forgotten (and, by far, best) BJ record. |

Thank you very much for this version of this interesting concert. It's one of my favourite "Works" shows and the video looks great. |

Hahaha, sorry Peter.
You are right.
This is pre-LP source from FM broadcast.
I recorded directly from NHK-FM on someday in 1985.
By this topic, I listened to this tape after an interval of 28 years.
Please tell the impression of everybody:-)

Viper wrote: Thx a lot! We can open for a proper official release, with great sound, of course. Do you think the first 2 shows at japan (5/8 and 5/9, 1985) were also recorded?A bit of Tear It Up from May 8 was shown on Japanese TV. It was pretty standard fare for TV crews to be given permission to film just one or two songs at the beginning of the show. So it's very unlikely more footage from the tour exists. |

Hi all, I have just finished a remastering project on a 24-bit 48 kHz lossless audio source of the Tokyo 1985 bootleg BluRay Disc. You can check it out here: link password: BiAS (to avoid removal) Any input / opinion is welcome. Cheers, Sebastian. PS: I checked a few FM radio sources and it seems that the Waldour silver CD is the best possible version to use for a secondary audio. |
