The Real Wizard 29.08.2013 18:39 |

No chance of a WAV upload my friend? Splitting and re-encoding from an MP3 is going to introduce more artifacts to the sound :-/ |
Raptor711 29.08.2013 23:33 |
Soon ill Upload the wav or flac version this is my first try encoding :) |
inu-liger 29.08.2013 23:34 |
Ahh OK! FLAC would be probably better for you if you're already knowledgeable how to use it for encoding, it'll save you more time to upload it as opposed to WAV :-) |
inu-liger 29.08.2013 23:37 |
Listening to the MP3...it's pretty heavy on the encoding artifacts unfortunately, but beyond that it seems the master recording quality is actually pretty good!! Once you upload the lossless version, I'll get my buddy Jimmy to remaster the audio to improve on the quality (much like he did with Earl's Court '77) :-) EDIT: The recording also seems to be running pretty hot, it's clipping and distorting quite a fair bit and I can see that on my foobar2000 display. Were you watching the sound levels when doing the cassette > digital transfer? |
Ale Solan 29.08.2013 23:39 |
"Old Queen ive in Puebla cassette i used to record" Huh? |
Raptor711 29.08.2013 23:42 |
A friend of mine will encode the show in flac or wav format to me and soon youll have a great memory of that night! enjoy my friends |
inu-liger 29.08.2013 23:43 |
Another question for now: Was side A all you recorded of the show, or is there more to come? |
Raptor711 29.08.2013 23:44 |
"Old Queen LIVE in Puebla 1981 cassette i used to record" ;) |
inu-liger 29.08.2013 23:44 |
Raptor711 wrote: A friend of mine will encode the show in flac or wav format to me and soon youll have a great memory of that night! enjoy my friendsBefore you have him encode the show, can you please check the digital transfer and see if it's clipping like that to begin with? You might need to redo the transfer and ensure it doesn't peak above -3dB on average. Otherwise, I can offer otherwise to do a new clean transfer if you're willing to ship the cassette my way. I'll even cover postage by registered mail and all, if you're cool with that :-) |
Raptor711 29.08.2013 23:45 |
theres the cassette B side to come (Uploading) |
Raptor711 29.08.2013 23:46 |
For sure i can send you the original tapes i just want a digital copy back ;) |
inu-liger 29.08.2013 23:47 |
OK excellent! I will PM you with my details and we'll go from there :) And for sure, you'll get digital copies of the master transfer plus the remastered transfer! |
Raptor711 29.08.2013 23:51 |
thank you so much! waiting for a PM |
inu-liger 29.08.2013 23:54 |
Sent you a PM :-) Oh and I also just realized too, we can get our resident pitch expert Gregsynth to check the transfer for any speed/pitch variations and fix them up nicely. Plus get Ale Solan to do some artwork. Which means.....project time!!! :D |
Raptor711 29.08.2013 23:58 |
for sure will be a great project =) and youre right,we need to fix some details (sounds a little slow speed to me) Answer to you tomorrow now sharing part two and going to bed ;) |

Raptor711 wrote: and youre right,we need to fix some details (sounds a little slow speed to me)Glad it wasn't just me then noticing the pacing sounded rather slow :-) unfortunately missing songs (no time to change tape side, a security guy was in front of me)Yeah I remember, security was actually pretty tight for such a large venue there! Though thankfully nowhere near as tight as Irving Plaza in New York City, gah!! |
inu-liger 30.08.2013 00:38 |
By the way, I forgot to thank you for uploading the MP3's in the meantime! :D |

Raptor711 wrote: 50:00 to end of tape Old Queen ive in Puebla cassette i used to recordIt's actually the Monterrey 81 source you shared last year: link Even through the digital noise of the mp3 recording I can tell it's much better quality - surely a couple tape generations less, at least. Are you saying you recorded the Vancouver 2006 show on top of side A of the 1981 Queen concert? If so, did you transfer it to digital before taping over it? It not, then that'd be a crying shame because this is the best quality of the three Monterrey audience sources. Thanks very much for sharing the 2006 show. It's always great to hear something new. |
A Word In Your Ear 30.08.2013 13:10 |
Thank You For This!!! |
Raptor711 30.08.2013 13:10 |
theres no problem i used backup tapes to record Vancouver ;) Ive got Original tapes from Mexican shows somewhere |
The Real Wizard 30.08.2013 13:21 |
Raptor711 wrote: theres no problem i used backup tapes to record Vancouver ;) Ive got Original tapes from Mexican shows somewherePhew, good ! This copy of Monterrey is definitely better than the FLAC version you shared last year, so a new transfer of it (at a lower volume level) would be greatly appreciated. |
Raptor711 30.08.2013 13:31 |
Ill put my tapes in hands of experts, so you know what to do, ill try to ship my recordings to Inu soon |
inu-liger 30.08.2013 13:38 |
OK, that's fine by me. I would get the tapes shipped out as soon as humanly possible, because come December I'm going to be an even busier man with the arrival of my 2nd child by then, so if we can work on this at everyone's earliest convenience, it would greatly benefit everyone all around. I have other side projects, some indirectly involving Queen-related stuff, that also need to be taken care of preferably by then as well! The most time consuming aspect of it all will be the remastering, which we'll definitely need to do side by side :-) |
inu-liger 30.08.2013 13:47 |
And by the way, regarding "Red House", I recall there was a near DVD quality audience shot video which I think would be suffice enough to take the mono audio from, remaster it as well and blend it in with the rest of the recording. I know I have it somewhere on my DVD-R's, but it'll take me quite a bit of time to sort through the discs to find which one it's on since I practically have over 120 discs of various crap, not including my FLAC collection! Would anyone happen to have a copy they could upload here or send me? Pretty sure it was a MOV Quicktime file... It's too bad the only clips out there from the show are all poor quality, sometimes distorted YouTube videos :-/ |

Raptor711 wrote: Ill put my tapes in hands of experts, so you know what to do, ill try to ship my recordings to Inu soonExcellent ! Have you considered spending a few extra bucks on insurance or something like that? You wouldn't want to lose your prized possessions in the post. That said, I haven't ever lost a package in the mail, so I doubt you will either. Still, I'd suggest you try to do another transfer at a lower volume level, just to have a safety copy before sending it off. |
inu-liger 30.08.2013 17:06 |
I told him to send it registered or express, as I will cover the costs anyways, so there shouldn't be an issue. I've never had registered mail go missing in the 14 years I've been buying and exchanging stuff through online outlets. Regular mail is another story of course :-) Call me picky, I'd personally rather keep wear to the tapes as minimal as possible in order to maintain what fidelity is there :-) |
The Real Wizard 30.08.2013 19:20 |
Yup. Every play of the tape makes the quality a bit worse. |
inu-liger 30.08.2013 19:31 |
Indeed. The brand make also plays a role in the quality of the tape itself too. |
tassilo 31.08.2013 12:41 |
Thanks a lot! |

Any updates, Raptor711? :) |
