My younger sister is a huge Brian May fan, and she wrote this poem as a personal tribute to him, combining threads of music and astronomy. Unfortunately, she forgot the badgers......
I just wanted to share it with other Brian May fans.
My Musical Galaxy.
Flying on the wings of song
I roam through worlds oft unknown
But oh so familiar to me
Every note, every tone
My personal musical galaxy.
I soar higher, freer than a bird
Through the songs of my life…..
Heavy thumping pounding beat
Fear rules darkly city streets
Love songs in dim and shady corners
Taunting, haunting melodies
Bright lights, rough nights
The strains of Piaf through peeling walls
Nursery rhymes and hopscotch on crumbling pavement
Simple summer pleasures in the dreary tenement
Blind man strumming, blissful smile on his face
Meagre pennies clinking in his hopeful guitar case.
Wishing he could be a Brian May
Someday…..
Wedding March down the aisle
Rose petals, white lace, shy sweet smiles
Preacher droning on and on…
Pounding heartbeat in rhythm with mine.
Sweet lullabies to sleepy eyes
Loving memories of my mother’s smile
This soft and gentle melody
I am exactly where I am meant to be.
And then the wild flight of my wings
I soar free through my galaxy
My exciting personal odyssey
Every star, every comet
Sings a siren song to me.
Church bells pealing clear crystal tones
Mourners sobbing by my unlovely bones
But I am finally perfectly free
Shackled no more to earthbound body
I soar higher and higher radiantly
Towards the music ever calling to me
I’m finally one with my personal galaxy.
Church bells pealing clear crystal tones
Farmers sobbing by cow's dead bones
Yes, i killed farmer Giles' prize bull
Now i'm running to escape the cull
Brock the badger, is me
spreading bovine T.B..
think i fixed it to get Brian's attention :-)
That is stunning. Brian's website is operated by a "webmistress" who DOES pass things on to Brian but Brian operates to quite a stict regimen of what I've been told by the webmistress is "his radar".
I hop he does get to reply to her as she certainly deserves it.
