Hyde Park
September 18, 1976
This is the best known transfer of the LP of the Hyde Park show. Four songs are missing, but it is better quality than the uncut copy of the tape.
The LP had a small bit of overlap between sides A and B (during Brian's speech before '39), so I cross-faded it to obscure the edit.
AUD > ? > "Free In The Park" LP > WAV (GoldWave speed correction, tracks divided) > FLAC level 8
1) Bohemian Rhapsody (tape & rock part)
2) Sweet Lady
3) You're My Best Friend
4) Bohemian Rhapsody (verses)
5) Killer Queen
6) The March Of The Black Queen
7) Bohemian Rhapsody (reprise)
8) Bring Back That Leroy Brown
9) Brighton Rock
10) Son And Daughter
11) '39
12) You Take My Breath Away
13) The Prophet's Song
14) Stone Cold Crazy [cut]
15) Liar
16) In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited link
Enjoy, and keep it lossless !
Many Thanks, Bob! I already have this one, but always is nice to hear it again...
What a noise audience in You Take My Breath Away... Pro-records (mixes) always cheat a bit, don't you?
Indeed. We don't know how far from the stage the taper was, but wherever it was I don't think too many people were listening !
As for the officially released version - there are separate mics on the audience, so indeed, all they have to do is lower the level and bingo, everybody was listening ;)
There's only one available - the crappy sounding video feed.
Higher quality bits have been officially released and seen in documentaries, totalling about ten minutes.
I just listened to this again yesterday and enjoyed it immensely. Some parts really sound great - impressive for a mid-70s outdoor audience tape.
This definitely reveals that Queen didn't have an off day, as people have tended to believe and write about. There are a few slight blips in the performance, but nothing worse than anything else from the era. The audio mix on the video is brutally bad. A bad recording can make even a great band sound bad.
Mercury's voice is in great shape, and by the end he is beaming with confidence after a somewhat tentative start (absolutely killer version of Liar). Needless to say, this was a very important show in their development as a band.
It'd be brilliant to hear the audience master tape, but this will do for now.

I thought everything you just wrote when listening to this yesterday... So thanks for your post ;-)
The great performance and remarkebly good performance make this recording essential in any Queen llive recordings collection (certainly given the importance of this show!).
I agree with you !
The Hyde Park show was spetacular and very particular performance of the band, delivering a stunning gig for me. Sweet Lady, The Prophets song ( yeah, I like that version), Flick of the wrist (stupend), You're my best friend, Liar, In the lap of the Gods revisited, etc...
