Yes this 14-year old boy would grow up to be none other than Queen bassist John Deacon, author of several of the band’s biggest hits, including ‘You’re My Best Friend’ and ‘Another One Bites the Dust.’
Since the death of singer Freddie Mercury in 1991, Deacon has retired from music performance, appearing with the other members of Queen only at a handful of benefit appearances, most famously the all-star 1992 tribute concert to Mercury. Funny photo.
I played a ton of queen on the jukebox at my local haunt today in his honor
(*not counting the years but I know it's his birthday)
Made sure to play prominent bass songs and songs of his own composure
Millionaire Waltz
SPREAD Your Wings, aobtd, iwtbf etc
Don't try so hard (although debunked as a John song)
Slightly mad (*another v prominent bass line)
Didn't find the buggles song or I would have played that too.
Even played the semi good BACK CHAT. ...
For certain I pissed off some people, but who cares. .. it's my money and its John deacon' s birthday.
Gotta love the guy.
Happy birthday John.
*(please give me your bass if you're not going to use it. ... this is only the fifth year + that I ask)
:)
