Queen
London, UK
Hyde Park
September 18, 1976
By request..
This is the only known uncut copy of the original audience source of this show. It was used for the Free In The Park LP releases, but those copies were missing four songs. This copy doesn't sound quite as good as the LP version (so it's probably inaccurate to refer to it as a pre-LP copy), and it is a mono transfer (the LP is stereo).
I've also included two tracks (they're all I have, so don't ask for others) from the best LP copy I've ever heard. They are reportedly from an early acetate copy of the Free In The Park LP, and the quality is far superior. The complete tape in this quality (or even a copy of this LP) would be a welcome addition to the Queen live canon, but alas what is available here is the best we can do for now.

Bonus mp3s (as I received them; I speed corrected them and opted not to convert them to FLAC when they were lossy to begin with):
1) Sweet Lady
2) The Prophet's Song link
Enjoy, and keep it lossless !
Interesting - thanks, Pittrek.
I have a different LP transfer that sounds a bit better than the youtube link. The EQ is a bit better, although the sibilants are a bit more pronounced. link
Thanks. I remember when I was about 17 (25 yrs ago!), a local second hand record shop had an original bbc transcription disc LP of this gig - at the princely sum of about £30 I just couldn't afford it. Needless to say I am kicking myself now!

Check out the attachment, from the June 1989 Record Collector magazine - it mentions this transcription disc.
This may be the one I've heard the highest quality samples from (about ten years ago now). It's definitely out there.
Despite the ad, I'm not so sure the actual disc exists.
The ad states Hyde Park is a Capital radio (london station) transcription disc.
Nothing to do with the BBC.
Has anyone ever confirmed if it actually even aired on Capital radio?

I was remembering from a long time ago that it was a BBC disc, but iI suppose it may possibly have been Capital (though I'm sure I recall the BBC name on it - either way, a disc exists cos I've seen it! I do recall that It had a yellow label, possibly with black writing.
I suppose in theory could this have been a transcription disc of the Hammersmith 75 audio instead??

I think that could be a more likely explanation.
I have never seen a Capital Radio Transcription disc from ANY artist
On the other hand, there are plenty to be found from the BBC.
If you look at that ad again there is actually a 1975 BBC Transcription disc listed as well.
Perhaps that's the one you saw, this one perhaps? link
