Ok so we all now know that the rumours are true. Queen have been working on material that contains Freddie Mercurys vocal. And that the album has a title already. So gathering all the information i have found out. I can give what i know or have heard. The album title> Queen Forever. Queen Duets. Queen +. Maybe one these is the title!!!! Album tracks, Another piece my heart(rod stewart duet) Is a defo on the album, The michael jackson tracks is another defo on the album. So thats a total 3/4 tracks if Victory excists! I know 8 songs that are on the album already. Not sure how many in total are on there. Dont want to give away everything as it may not all be true. So the album has a title and it will be out within the next few months, year. |

That article really doesn't reveal much new aside from what we all already knew. Let's try and keep the speculation down as it is. We've been waiting over two to three years as it is with regard to the Queen-ified versions of the FM/MJ tracks, let's not create another "Face It Alone" type situation, folks. |

Kevin, the paper didn't even source where the new claims emerged from. This wouldn't be the first nor the last time the media has made claims that purported to be true. It would be great if they will make "Love Making Love" of Freddie. Demo is almost have completed, only vocal is not complete! But, we know, how it can be, if remember You Don't Fool Me:))))))))) |
MrFunster 29.07.2013 05:21 |
I think it would be better if they add unknown songs from the vaults in stead of re releasing well know stuff. Although Love makin' love is a good song with strong Freddie vocals. I'm really curious if this album would be a kind of Made in heaven II. I hope so...this makes me feel good. |
Another Roger (re) 29.07.2013 06:05 |
Exciting times this. Must be the release since No One But You I really look forward to. As somebody already mentioned I hope for some tracks we have never heard of. That would be exciting. But I am not hoping for too much. There is a reason why they had to resort to tracks like "Beautiful day reprise" + solo tracks on Made in Heaven. So unless something has surfaced after that there shouldnt be that much to work with. |

Unless its an amazing album they should not promote it as a full blooded Queen album like Made In Heaven was. Would be very harsh to compare it to Queen studio albums (1973-1995) when they are scraping the barrel like this. I dont mean to be negative, but the press could judge it hard if its promoted as something that it isnt. Edit:The press has always been hard on Queen, so maybe thats a good thing.... |
Sebastian 29.07.2013 07:11 |
The whole Andy Gibb story stemmed from the Fan Club magazine issued in Spring 1980 (page 5). I'll quote: 'Queen have recently returned from recording a new album in Germany - to include "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Save Me" - release date is planned for some time in June. Staying at the same hotel in Germany were Andy Gibb and Leif Garrat (sic) and so the boys invited them to visit the studio during the recording. The band were putting the finishing touches to a backing track when Freddie insisted that Andy Gibb sing with them. The track, as yet untitled, is one of Freddie's compositions and he was very impressed with Andy's voice and was heard to remark how good it was.' The usage of 'backing track' was a bit different 33 years ago from what it is now: then it could refer to virtually anything but the lead vocal (often, but not always and definitely not in this case, they meant the live piano+bass+drums or guitar+bass+drums bit over which everything else would be overdubbed), so I'm 99% sure Vicky meant they were putting the finishing touches to the song's 'supporting parts', so to speak. Andy sang with them (strongly implying backing vocals) and Freddie was happy with what he did. The theory of Andy singing lead or dueting with Freddie was just wishful thinking, broken telephone and rumours: it was backing vocals he did. BV for that song were most likely done with the 3x3x3 formula: Roger, Freddie and Brrian would simultaneously and on the same mic sing the low part, double it, triple it, then they'd sing the middle part, double it, triple it, then they'd sing the high part, double it and triple it. If Andy joined them and they had four people at the mic, and if their voices blended well enough (that's the point anyway), then that's why we don't clearly identify him, same way you hear a choir (especially if singing unison) and you (normally) don't pick any individual voices. So, for all we know, we may have been listening to a(n uncredited) Andy Gibb joining Freddie, Roger and Brian all along and most of us hadn't noticed... unless of course they wiped out that day's recordings and re-did them without Andy, but there's no reason for it as Freddie was pleased with them. |
snelly1 29.07.2013 07:11 |
I'm struggling to see how you can call this a Queen album without the input of John Deacon. In my view Cosmos Rocks has no part in the Queen Cannon...I'd never underestimate the contribution those bass lines made to the power and beauty of their songs..the Freddie plus MJ songs were really just that...collaborations betwen two individuals supported by backing musicians (unless I'm wrong and BM, RT and JD were playing originally on the tracks)... |
IanR 29.07.2013 07:14 |
You're forgetting two key factors about Made In Heaven: (1) the band hadn't had the archive cataloged properly in 1995 — who knows what has turned up since? (2) By necessity, MIH had to have a coherent and consistent feel. A compilation doesn't have that sort of restriction. |
Band Forever 29.07.2013 07:47 |
That song Fred recorded with Billy Squier 'Love is The Hero' amazing backing vocal pretty much wasted in the background to BS weak voice. It could have easily been the lead vocal. I am rather looking forward to this release and sounds like Brian is really tuned up for it too! |

guys I'm afraid you're pushing your expectations too much, really. Believe me, I'd love as much as anyone else here to see a new Made In Heaven - style album, but .... I expect this new release to include, at best, the two FM+MJ tracks, plus a "new" unreleased track (possibly Let Me In Your Heart Again?) and, perhaps, a slightly reworked backing track of a well-known number (in the style of the ICLWY rocks retake). At best ! wouldn't be surprised if it's less than that. And if it's more, then I'll be really happy, obviously |

You don't need to be posting guessed tracklists for the album or what you'd like the title to be or what you think should be the single... if you're not interested in reading that you can easily skip it, but you can also respect the fact that for other people it's clearly something they want to do and enjoy, there's nothing wrong with that. Is it childish? I honestly don't think so - what I do find childish is moaning about that. If you only care about facts, fine, but people are different, and if someone else wants to imagine what the album will have and share their insights, they're not doing any harm. |

I wasn't expecting anything like this, so this will be excellent. The best news since the release of MIH. Two tracks with Freddie/Michael and two unreleased Freddie songs are confirmed. This - to me- means three new potencial singles -at least! -with the Queen logo on it. This can only be good news! We will have Queen climbing the charts in the USA and around the world with the Michael Jackson tracks. And if the demand for Queen music is the same as it was around 1995, then i really think that it's possible that Brian and Roger go on a world tour, and this time they will play US with packed arenas, as they should. I'm really excited about what is to come. |
