Jesus Christ, how is possibly the most exciting thread regarding new tracks that we've had in years turn into this? |
Dan C. 25.07.2013 08:28 |
Such has been the way of Queen Zone for at LEAST as long as I have been here (which is probably too damn long at this point). It can be rather disheartening but, if you give it time, some 'real' discussion usually pops up. On topic, I don't have much to say other than: 1.) I know that, though not much, they have at least SOME stuff in the can that, with a little work, could be pretty great to have. So IF they're 'new' songs, I hope they're not marred by bullshit guest singers that I don't give half a dead rat's ass about. I'd like to think they wouldn't be stupid/cruel enough to debut something from 'the vaults' with some jackass stepping all over Freddie Mercury. 2.) If they are remixes/retakes of past singles/album tracks with the '+' moniker, I either REALLY don't care or am tentatively excited depending on who the '+' is. 3.) If they happen to be the Michael Jackson tracks, I'm definitely on board for a Queenified version of "State of Shock," but, based on his singing on the demo take, am not too keen on Queen + Michael Jackson version of "There Must Be More To Life Than This." |

Supersonic_Man89 wrote: Jesus Christ, how is possibly the most exciting thread regarding new tracks that we've had in years turn into this?Welcome to Queenzone:-) But seriously don't pay attention to the negative posts here. Back on topic: This is in fact great news, and i'm glad you posted it here because i don't have twiter so it's allways nice to have someone post this news in Queenzone. This is the most exciting Queen news since "Made in Heaven". They told us that there isn't enough material for a MIH part two, but if Brian worked on two new Queen songs, plus the two Freddie and Jackson songs we have potencially four "new" songs with Freddie Mercury voice ready to come out. This is the best news in 18 years for me. And to have them as Queen just reminds me that the boys are back in town, and what a lucky guy i am to live in the same generation as my idols and to be anticipating still another new album by the boys. Great stuff! |
Supersonic_Man89 25.07.2013 09:43 |
I think there probably is enough material for another album. Freddie said they worked on 20/30 songs for the Miracle sessions, and a mistake they've made in the past is that they record lots of songs, some good songs get left out, and then completely forgotten because they want each album to have a fresh sound. I think we know less than half of the actual songs they have in the vaults. I also think the general public/fans will not expect this to be up there with the best albums they've ever done, nobody would expect it to. It would just be a nice thing for them to creatively do and for the fans to listen to. Also, Freddie seems to be as popular as ever right now, so i think there would be a market for this, and maybe one single if they can find a good track. |

I'd rather hear some new live material from the 70's, or any time period! But this could be interesting I suppose. |
Supersonic_Man89 25.07.2013 16:03 |
Really? You'd rather hear live material of songs you've potentially heard 100 different versions of, rather than new never before heard studio songs? |
princetom 25.07.2013 16:19 |
let's wait and see. how many times did we get "big words" in the past. ? a new album w/ freddie's vocals would be the ultimate gift... but my guess is that there will only be some lousy remixes... oh, what a joy it was if there would be another MIH... |

Supersonic_Man89 wrote: Really? There's always a different concert with a quite different way of performing songs (I know they all sound almost the same at a particular time period, but...!). Plus we've all long been desiring to see all those concerts from the 70's, so why would it be inappropriate to release them after all? |

I'm thinking what John Deacon makes of this new Queen stuff. Of course the live gig with PR and sissy Adam L.were something besides Queen but under the name Queen. Now this is the same work compared to Made in Heaven. So they will use the old bass lines from John from the past or... thoughts??? |

What we are mostly getting our hearts set on here is whether there will be a future Queen album featuring ALL previously unreleased stuff. Sadly I don't think the desire is there though amongst the band for either option. |

A bit of a serious post now: Brian May: "We bring new Queen CD - with Freddie & Michael Jackson songs" A new Queen CD with unreleased songs Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson as a guest star. Two Las Vegas concerts with Adam Lambert and the acoustic tour with Kerry Ellis. In WEGOTIT interview Brian May reveals the queen plans! link ... son-songs/ But there will be a new Queen album: A compilation album is not a greatest hits album. Because now we have been working for some time and there will probably be some unreleased songs that nobody has ever heard. With Freddie on vocals. We have as yet found a couple of songs and fragments. His recordings with Michael Jackson. Because now we have been working for some time |

A bit of a different translation from a human source not an online translation: Your queen plans, apart from the two Adam Lambert concerts in September? Brian May: Two concerts? Really? Perhaps these are two different versions out there. Not really. We wanted to get a TV show going in England, but that is unfortunately not happening. But there will be a new Queen album: A compilation album that is not a greatest hits album. Because we have been working on this for some time now and there will probably be some unreleased songs on it too, that nobody has ever heard. With Freddie on vocals. We have actually found a couple of songs and fragments. Also, his recordings with Michael Jackson. We have been working on those for some time already. This makes it sound to me that there are the jackson songs and in addition jackson-less songs. It also seems like the jackson songs might not be a part of the (ballad) compilation - maybe something separate... |
Supersonic_Man89 26.07.2013 14:04 |
I think if they acknowledged that it was a 'left over' album, people wouldn't judge it too harshly, enabling them to release all new (old material). There's more than enough, and that's just the stuff we've heard. |
AlexRocks 26.07.2013 15:06 |
1) Why does the bear have to be dead? 2) Whoa! I did not know anything about this convention d.v.d. thing! That sounds cool! 3) I STILL think that it is time that an audio concert (and more over the next few years) should be released that is not related to a filmed show. Or perhaps even an audio compilation of some sort. |

Love to hear GT or GB vision on this project. Unfortunately I think they are in position not to say much. But I hope they can saya bit about the 'compilaition' album. Roger indicated that he's not in for 'scraping the barrel'. |
Heavenite 28.07.2013 06:42 |
What Roger said back then might have predominantly been part of the marketing for this project. I mean after Made in Heaven they said there was nothing left, and 16 years we weren't expecting anything. Then after what Brian and Roger said, we had a hopes first raised and then dashed. But at the same time they put the MJ tracks on the table. And now it seems they are going to be following though, and it seems that it is not going to be too far before the Freddie movie is released. Strange how Freddie meets with Jacko and there are a few tracks from those meetings of sufficient standard for release. Yet from the rest of Queen's career, all we have seen to date since Freddie's death is two new tracks and a bunch of reworked b-sides and solo tracks. I think that's surprising, especially considering how long Freddie seems to have known about his condition. But not impossible I guess. Anyway, hopefully there are a significant if not a lot more tracks still to come before it truly would become a bottom scraping exercise. |
