I know the Born Free Tour did not spark much interest in our otherwise generally good-natured community, but I attended last night's gig and I must say I had a terrific time, in spite of my low excpectations.
The atmosphere was just nuts, as the audience (including I) sang, heckled, stomped, clapped and danced their way through the performance.
Think what you want about the project, but it is a real privilege so see Bri this up close and personal.
Kerry Ellis seems like a nice girl and she is a competent singer, much less annoying than, say, Adam Lambert.
The set has some boring songs and pointless covers, but the Queen material is a joy and for once Bri really showcases Freddie's repertoire in a post-Queen project, which I really appreciated (Life Is Real, CLTCL, STL, nearly as many songs as Brian's TYMD, 39', WWRY and NOBY).
Bri and Kerry were really absorbing the incredible energy and I will keep a very fond memory of this night. This is a show I would see again.
Setlist:
I Who Have Nothing
Butterfly (Somethings That Glitter)
Dust in the Wind
Born Free
Somebody To Love
Tell Me What You See
Nothing Really Has Changed
Life is Real (Song for Lennon)
Can't Help Falling In Love (tour premiere)
'39
I Am Not That Girl
If I Loved You
Last Horizon (intro included licks reminiscent of It's A Beautiful Day)
Knockin'on Heaven's Door
Tie Your Mother Down
We Will Rock You
The Kissing Me Song
No-One But You
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Glad you had great time in Paris :-)
I thought they might have changed the set list a little, due to being in a different country on this tour.
"Can't Help Falling in Love", has already been performed at a couple of gigs on this tour, maybe when they get into Italy, you'll get something a little different, maybe "Cosi Celeste"
Again, Glad you had a great time :-)
Awaiting to see the 4 concerts taking place in Italy :-) ... and maybe in Montreux on 19th July :-)
I agree anyway with you about a few " boring songs" in the list, but to see Brian playing Freddie's stuff in an acoustic, soft way will be absolutely emotioning.
I like Kerry Ellis' voice and fine presence. She's not a musician at all, but I think she does her own job brillianty ( I mean obviously singing and acting in musical, ecc..). Thank God she's not Adam Lambert!!!!!!!!!
Life is real... FREDDIE IS A GENIUS... :-)
I was there too. It was really a joy. Everybody had a lot of laughs.
Something was played too.
Can't Help Falling In Love was mixed with Plaisir d'Amour (in french) and that was a real premiere!
Plaisir d'Amour (in french)
Excellent!!!!
One of the gigs that I attended was at Gateshead & Brian performed a snippet of "Fog On The Tyne" excellent that they have started to shake it up a little.
