Last week he recorded a last minute track, so next step will be the mix and the mastering of the (compilation/album?).....I believe not before October...but who knows

So is it just an album or the solo box set? or is any kind of box set wishful thinking....
Right now it's a solo album I believe but he is also working on some archive stuff as well - box set or compilation - we don't know.
We do know a few things from his FB page:
RT HQ here, just had a great meeting with the man himself about all sorts of projects. Solo material, The Cross, The Queen Extravaganza, the new album...you name it. Great things ahead people.

Had my first photo session in 10 years, for the new album with Pattie Boyd. Promise you'll be the first to see them.

Roger here.... Just off to America for a week to give my ears a break from the bloody studio! Discussing films etc.
Will come back, hopefully refreshed and at full throttle for the new releases.

Ok so we have "NEW ALBUM" we have "RELEASES" plural . We have solo PLANS including SOLO THE CROSS and QEX
There was also a quote in some magazine that I can't remember now where he specifically mentions a box set of some kind.
My guess which is as good as anyone elses really is that he's working on a new album and close to the finish line (or at least much closer than he was) but he's also got plans to release a box set which would be his four previous solo albums with perhaps a bonus disc of B-Sides and perhaps some rarities.
For some reason I think he will keep his Solo stuff and his Cross stuff separate. Perhaps there will be a Cross compilation as well but I think his Cross talk was centered around Spike mentioning a Cross reunion happening at a Christmas gig or whatever it was (I can't remember the exact quote).
Of course all plans are completely nebulous until there's a press release but I believe that is the working plan...WHEN? No idea...when it's finished and he doesn't seem to be in any rush.
Roger has recorded a extra track for his album. And the compilation of his songs album has problems with the Shove it material Virgin will not release it to him so he is considering recording the tracks again for the album...
And what ever happened to him releasing the songs one by one for us fans to choose what songs go on his album.
We (fans) don't know more than what's has been sayd in the latest months on Roger's facebook or media news. Wait from news from the man himself on https://www.facebook.com/RogerTaylor , Queenonline.com or link . Don't ask us for dates. We will know the dates when that info is release from the official sources.

That's ridiculous. After the difficulties with the Sheffields, surely Roger wouldn't let himself get into such a position with Virgin...?

I have this from a good source..
well, If that option was real ... I'd really love it, but it's Roger we're talking about, and this project could be easily 4 or 5 years in the making until it's released :D
Haven't got the CD cover for Shove It with me, but does it confirm that all rights (publishing, copyright etc..) are with Virgin Records? I agree that it would be odd that Roger would have let them retain all the rights, whereas his other stuff, and Queen output had the publsihing rights owned either by QPL, or his own Company Nightjar.
I do however remember (and it's 25 years ago so don't quote me!) an interview with hims arounf that time saying that he had touted the album to EMI and others and no one was willing to back it, but as he was mates with Richard Branson (then owner of Virgin Records), he offered him a deal. Perhaps Roger was fairly deperate so conceeded to the standard terms at the time. It's really annoying if those in charge now won't let him have the right to the recordings, especially as they will do bugger all with it. Still, they released Heaven For Everyone (Shove It version) for inclusion on the Freddie Box Set, so it may still be possible.
Don't believe anything you read or hear as "official" where Queen and its ex-members are concerned. The drivers of the bus aren't bothered about timelines or sticking to promised (or touted) dates. What happens will happen if and when. I'm surprised there are still people that expect things to happen.........After. All. This. Time.
This album is the solitary thing in the Queeniverse that I am actually genuinely excited about, it can't come soon enough for me. Roger's solo stuff has always been strong compared to any other band member.

Agreed. I love the Strange Frontier and Happiness albums, and Electric Fire is OK.
Brian has just tweeted that Roger has authorised him to say "the album is finished and due for release September-ish" ( presumably this year!!!).
BM also says they're meeting today "to work on a new Queen release'.
