I know, in the past many of these threads been covered but since we got some new gems here lately, it would be a fun thing to create our own personal anthology boxset. Everyone is free to bring in ideas and tracks that would fit this collection. Things like the number of volumes, tracklistings, quality and others. I already started with 6 volumes and here's the first: Volume 1 1. Band Introduction (0:36) (1973) 2. Mad The Swine (3:22) (1972) 3. Hangman (Live In Tokyo 01-05-'75) (6:06) (1975) 4. Polar Bear (Take 2) (Demo) (4:33) (197x) 5. Rock 'n' Roll Medley (Live At Golders Green 13-09-'73) (7:13) (1973) 6. Keep Yourself Alive (De Lane Lea Demo) (3:51) (1971) 7. The Night Comes Down (De Lane Lea Demo) (4:24) (1971) 8. Great King Rat (De Lane Lea Demo) (6:09) (1971) 9. Jesus (De Lane Lea Demo) (5:06) (1971) 10. Liar (De Lane Lea Demo) (7:54) (1971) 11. Keep Yourself Alive (Latter Demo) (3:51) (1972) 12. My Fairy King (BBC Session 1, 05-02-'73) (4:06) (1973) 13. Keep Yourself Alive (BBC Session 1, 05-02-'73) (3:48) (1973) 14. Doin' Alright (BBC Session 1, 05-02-'73) (4:10) (1973) 15. Liar (BBC Session 1, 05-02-'73) (6:28) (1973) I took 15 tracks for each volume. So bring on your ideas and tracks and together we can make a unique boxset and make this a fun thread. Because we all know Roger and Brian won't give us one. |

Brilliant - you should be getting a LOT of interest / feedback from this. I've already created my own Anthology project, based solely on studio recordings (including Convention 'demo' versions) and haven't limited it to single discs - its stored by album release date (or BBC session recording date) and then around the Japanese mini-LP editions of the original albums. I've not yet bothered to create a text file of the tracks and times etc so can't list or compare / contrast as above I'm afraid. I've also created a "The Who Studio Anthology - 1964 - 1973" based aroung the various takes and mixes etc of all known digital releases. I'm serialising this on the Steve Hoffman Forums site and its generated a decent amount of feedback but the collection runs to over 24 hours od listening..... ;-) |

I've never heard of 'Polar Bear' |

Although it is a nice suggestion, but personally I would like to see all the Beeb tracks released as a whole concept. So not in the anthology boxset. Tom |

'of what is available' sounds a bit boring and useless so I made this tracklist of the first CD... Every 5 years gets their own disc (71-75, 76-80, 81-85, 86-90, 91-95), and then; - One disc with unreleased non-album songs (demo or finished) - One disc with all the B-sides - One disc with all the 12'' versions 1971 - 1975 1. April Lady – Studio rehearsal 2. Great King Rat – Take 3-5 3. My Fairy King – Piano rehearsal 4. The Night Comes Down – Unused version 5. Liar – Take 2 6. Father To Son - Rehearsal 7. White Queen (as it began) - Rehearsal 8. The Fairy Feller’s Master Stroke – Freddie Explains 9. March of the Black Queen – Take 2-5 10. Seven Seas Of Rhye – Take 1 11. Brighton Fuck - Demo 12. Killer Queen – Take 2 13. Now I’m Here – Live take 14. Stone Cold Crazy – Unedited version 15. In the Lap of the Gods …revisited – Alternate Vocal Take 16. Death on Two Legs ...dedicated to... – Take 1-3 17. ’39 - Demo 18. Love of my Life – Piano Take 2 19. Bohemian Rhapsody – Complete Sessions |

Interesting reads so far people. I love to see other people's tracklistings and ideas. Maybe some fanthologists people have some nice suggestions so that we can create a real monster box with a nice name. Keep it coming. By the way, this is volume 2 of my list: Volume 2 1. Liar (BBC Session 2, 25-07-'73) (6:30) (1973) 2. Son And Daughter (BBC Session 2, 25-07-'73) (6:01) (1973) 3. Keep Yourself Alive (BBC Session 2, 25-07-'73) (3:44) (1973) 4. i've just finished reading your post about your The Who anthology on steve hoffman forum. i must say, an interesting read. i love to read those kinds of thing when people creating their own personal artists or bands archives. aside queen i also created more archives from other bands and artists. phil collins to name one. i created a 12 volume rarities set on him. it's nice to create these kinds of sets when digging and looking for b-sides, demo's, outtakes, non album tracks and special live performances. reading other peoples renditions of rare archives sets is something i love. |

Agreed about BBC tracks being on a separate release. I like threads like this :o) |
dudeofqueen 12.06.2013 12:39 |
Next part of THAT forum thread covers from the recording of "The Who Sell Out" up to and including the release of Dogs. I'll try to put my Queen Anthology up at some stage too but great work woth yours mate - keep it going! |
mooghead 12.06.2013 13:54 |
If a Queen anthology (won't happen) consisted of stuff that is available I would be well fucking pissed off.... If there is nothing new from the (mythical) vaults then don't even bother. I want to hear the FIRST EVER noise recorded on the earliest master tape that can be found. I bet its that Freddie moaning about the colour of the carpet or something :-) |

Dane, is your list made up of genuine tracks you've heard or or are rumored to exist? Particularly interested in: The Fairy Feller’s Master Stroke – Freddie Explains. |

I also must say that Dane has a very interesting disc and some of these tracks i've never heard. |

Im agree with Dave76 idea and would be great if every volumen is available to download (after some revision of tracks) ! |

I made something like this for myself maybe 2-3 years ago now. I ended up having it as a 10CD set, which if memory serves my correctly, went something like this: Disc 1: Pre-Queen (Opposition/ Reaction/ LHM/ Ibex) Disc 2: Pre-Queen (1984/ Smile) Disc 3: Queen: 70's Demos/ Out-takes & Oddities Disc 4: BBC Sessions (First 3) Disc 5: BBC Sessions (Last 3) Disc 6: Queen: 80's Demos etc Disc 7: Queen: 90's Demos & Beyond Disc 8: Rare unreleased solo Disc 9: Remixes Disc 10: Rare Live I thought it best to section everything out rather than mix live with studio and solo. Of course, I've collected a few extra things since then, thanks to a few friends and of course here on QZ, and I might tinker with the above format and add/omit some stuff. In recent light of some of the leaks here on QZ, I also compiled a Queen only set of 4 CDs, which run in chronological order. They've included: Polar Bear Polar Bear (Take 2) Silver Salmon Keep Yourself Alive (De Lane Lea Studios) The Night Comes Down (De Lane Lea Studios) Great King Rat (De Lane Lea Studios) Jesus (De Lane Lea Studios) Liar (De Lane Lea Studios) Feelings Keep Yourself Alive (Acetate) March Of The Black Queen (No Vocals) March Of The Black Queen (Alternate to the above...) Funny How Love Is (No Vocals) Stone Cold Crazy (Guitar Out-take) Nevermore (Piano Demo) Keep Yourself Alive (Retake, 1975) Sweet Lady (Guitar Out-take) Bohemian Rhapsody (Vocal Out-takes) Bohemian Rhapsody (Alternate Intro, Count-in) Bohemian Rhapsody (Piano Out-take) Bohemian Rhapsody (Guitar Solo, Isolated) Bohemian Rhapsody (Opera Section, Isolated) Bohemian Rhapsody (Opera Section, Piano) Bohemian Rhapsody (Guitar Out-take) Feelings Feelings (Take 10) We Will Rock You (Guitar Out-take) Don't Stop Me Now (Lost Guitars) Dreamer's Ball (Early Acoustic Take) Sail Away Sweet Sister (Take 1) *Sandbox (Clean HD version) It's A Beautiful Day (Spontaneous Idea) The Kiss (Early Version) Football Fight (Early Version) Feel Like Us (Early Under Pressure) Staying Power (Demo) Life Is Real (Demo) Las Palabras De Amor (Demo) Woolly Hat (Early Back Chat) Action This Day (Demo) Cool Cat (Early Version) Cool Cat (Alternate Take) Keep Passing The Open Windows (Idea) Keep Passing The Open Windows (Demo) Back To Storm (Demo) Machines (Synths Out-take) A Kind Of Vision (Early A Kind Of Magic) One Vision (“For Fun” Censored Version) Princes Of The Universe (Demo, Townhouse) One Year Of Love (Demo, Townhouse) Tavaszi Szel Vizet Araszt (Rehearsal) Stealin' (12 Minute Version) My Baby Does Me I Guess We're Falling Out Fiddly Jam (Early Hang On In There) A New Life Is Born (Early Breakthru) I Want It All (Guitar Only) Chinese Torture I Want It All (Extract) The Miracle (Extract) The Invisible Man (Guide Vocals, Roger) The Invisible Man (Extract) Scandal (Extract) Too Much Love Will Kill You (Extract) Hijack My Heart (Demo) Dog With A Bone Face It Alone (Demo) *Affairs (Clean, HD Version) Headlong (Guide Vocals) Headlong (Demo) Ride The Wild Wind (Early Version, Roger) Ride The Wild Wind (Extract) Delilah (Demo) Delilah (Extract) The Hitman (Demo, Brian Vocals) Robbery Self Made Man My Secret Fantasy Let Me Live (Original Version, Banned) Mother Love (Alternate Version) No-one But You (Piano Out-takes) The Call The Call (Version 2) I don't like the convention recordings, and don't see much of a point in them unless they're clean and without the POQP watermark. I've only used the ones marked * in the compilation, so the set is as clean sounding as possible. A lot of these tracks are FLAC, and I've shared them here - some are now on the remaster sets from 2011, and some I nicked from good old QZ!!! |

Great list. i love to read stuff like that. Anyone have more ideas for putting together a great boxset? Here's my volume 3: Volume 3 1. White Queen (As It Began) (Single Version) (4:35) (1974) It would be great if the tracks you've mentioned Thistleboy1980 would made available in one torrent once again. I see some tracks which i missed over the years. |

^ I'd love to do it Dave, but only get internet access when I'm over at my fiancee's house (2-3 days in the week). Even at that, she's not on an unlimited tariff, and her wee boy's always on HIS bloody XBOX Live lol....I'd never get the chance to get it off and running/seed it :( I hope someone does get a chance to do it, though!! Maybe I could pick up a few things I've missed out on myself lol |
dudeofqueen 17.06.2013 04:07 |
Re: >not on an unlimited tariff Ditto here in South Africa - an unlimited tarriff is ridiculously expensive. I'd be happy to do it though in terms of making CD-rs up and posting them out. Blanks and postage anyone......in an old fashioned snail mail trading way ;-) |

I've made a collection of tracks that Queen have preformed live but aren't necessarily their songs with some little of their own. I called the 2-Disc compilation, "Live Jewels" It goes like this, I'm putting it in alphabetical order after the first songs of Rock'n'roll medley. I havent organized the list yet into a specific order. 1. Jailhouse Rock (Live In Montreal, 1981) (Can be whatever you chose though, I prefer this official version though) 2. Shake Rattle And Roll (Live At The Golders Green Hippodrome, 13 September 1973) 3. Stupid Cupid (Live At The Golders Green Hippodrome, 13 September 1973) 4. Be Bop A Lula (Live At The Golders Green Hippodrome, 13 September 1973) 5. (You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care (Live In Budapest, 1986) 6. Ay-Oh (Live Aid, 1985) 7. Big Spender (Live At The Rainbow, November 1974) 8. Brighton Rock Solo (Live At Wembley, 1986) 9. Day-Oh (Live At Wembley, 1986) 10. Drum Solo (Live At The Rainbow, November 1974) 11. Gimme Some Lovin' (Live At Wembley, 1986) 12. Guitar Solo (Live At The Rainbow, November 1974) 13. Hangman (Live At Budokan Hall, Tokyo, 1975) 14.
