Hola aquí está otra demo, no sé si es real o no pero suena bien Hello here this other demo, I don't know if real or not but sound good |
C_Matt 08.06.2013 01:27 |
Wathever it's real or fake, it sounds legit to me. Thank you so very much for sharing! |
Pim Derks 08.06.2013 02:11 |
Strange, it does sound different and is slightly longer than the album version, but the vocal seems to be the exact same take and the sax-solo also sounds like the final version. The main thing that sounds different to me is the drums. |
Star&Sun 08.06.2013 03:17 |
Very strange but very cool! perhaps alternative version LP or first version highlander's theme? |
Claudio_CQI 08.06.2013 03:36 |
is that the Red Special? |

Didn't get that far. Boring song :D |
Vali 08.06.2013 04:08 |
Many thanks for sharing ! we're getting nice surprises lately :) that guitar at 1:45 min ala "Mother Love" style is a nice touch ! the sax sounds like a different take than the final version |

Genuine or not... any coments from the doctors? Thanks by the way! |

Hi there, I am fearful of Torrent's, is there a kind soul that could upload this via some other form of sharing? 'twould be nice if you can, Thank you! |

Interesting. (Though not a demo, but an alternative version). Would be good to find out if this is genuine. |

Nice! Definitely not a demo, but it could be an alternate or even fan mix. The latter is very possible. Thanks for the share - regardless of origin, it's a nice track :) |

thx for the share. am i the only one who thinks the guitar is rather weak ? |
Ghostwithasmile is BACK! 08.06.2013 12:26 |
Gues Battle Scene will be next as it comes grom the same Townhouse tape as the oyol and potu |
dysan 08.06.2013 13:19 |
I hope so! |
IanR 08.06.2013 14:48 |
Could be an intermediate take from early 1986, before the strings were recorded. The sax solo also sounds like a different take. |
IanR 08.06.2013 14:51 |
Where's the POTU download?! |

thanks Ramffiss for share the demo. I enjoy this music. That is very played in some radio stations, here in my country, Brazil . And very associated by people what believe to be a Freddie Mercury solo song. Interesting no ? |
MAYniac91 09.06.2013 02:23 |
Finger crossed that the complete townhouse tape is leaked in FLAC in the next future! |

Hideously oversung Got to be in the running for the worst Queen track ever |

ANAGRAMER wrote: Hideously oversung Got to be in the running for the worst Queen track everI agree. One of Freddie's worst vocal takes ever. It has everything which makes this song terrible: cheesy keyboards, a very un-Queen sax solo, horrible programmed drums. Deaky...what were you thinking? |
Thistle 09.06.2013 16:24 |
^ I don't think so - have always loved the song, and think Freddie's voice is awesome on it. Maybe a tad oversung lol, but stunning vocals nonetheless. RE the "very un-Queen sax solo": why should every track have a "signature" sound? There's no need to follow the same formula for every song!! That said, one man's meat is another man's poison, eh?? :) |
vicspec 09.06.2013 16:36 |
It's an amazing vocal performance really. It's just the instrumentals are badly chosen especially the saxophone. Question - what is the Battle Scene track that is a part of this Townhouse Demo set? |

vicspec wrote: It's an amazing vocal performance really. It's just the instrumentals are badly chosen especially the saxophone. Question - what is the Battle Scene track that is a part of this Townhouse Demo set?Probably incidental music originally written for use in the Highlander movie |
Johan 10.06.2013 04:53 |
Great share, thank you. Very interesting to hear. I thought I heard some minor differences in Freddies vocals. Are we 100% sure this is indeed the final vocal take? |
Bohardy 10.06.2013 13:20 |
Thanks very much to all involved in sharing this. Everything other than the vocals is definitely different to the final version, and I'm not even certain that the vocal take is the same. So this is very interesting. Not necessarily good though...the guitar solo is horrible, as is the sax solo, and the keys and drums sound even lamer than they do on the final version. |

This is legit. The guitar solo is likely played by Deacy. Brian and Roger likely had no involvement in this track at all. |

The Real Wizard wrote: This is legit. The guitar solo is likely played by Deacy. Brian and Roger likely had no involvement in this track at all. I'm not so sure. I hear a fair few Bri elements in that solo. Of course, we've no references from Deaky in order to compare soloing styles, but the bends and vibrato sound pretty consistent with Bri's playing to me. As somebody else said upthread, there's shades of Mother Love in it. |

I think it fair to say there's no recorded evidence that we know of of a Deaky guitar solo. I know Sebastian might disagree with that however... |

Now, regarding "Who needs you" Brian already stated that it was him playing the guitar. GUITAR PLAYER MARCH 2012, wich can be find on his site link **Mon 19 Mar 12** "Some other songs where you didn't play your Red Special include "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" solo, which was a Tele, "Long Away," which also had the Burns electric 12, and "Who Needs You," which featured that funky, buzzy nylon-string. What's up with that guitar? Brian - "I have no idea where that guitar came from. The song just seemed to need a proper Spanish guitar, rather than a regular steel-string acoustic. So we found one and I played it but I can't tell you what it was. I'm very un-snobbish about guitars. It doesn't matter what they're called or where they come from. If they sound good at that point in time, that's it. A lot of the acoustic stuff that we've done was played on very cheap old things I had lying around, but I just liked the particular sound. I've never played anything expensive, in terms of an acoustic guitar. I know that for sure. A lot of the people around me had these wonderful old Martins and things, but they wouldn't make the sort of noise that I needed." |
Ale Solan 16.06.2013 10:56 |
I thought someone here would mention it but no one did! This is the same version that features on the Highlander incidental music, the Bar scene most precisely |
Bohardy 16.06.2013 14:55 |
The Highlander version definitely isn't the same as this Townhouse version. It has the same alternate sax solo, granted, but it's not the same. It sounds like other than the sax solo it uses the final version (in obviously edited form) as its framework. |
Ale Solan 16.06.2013 15:11 |
That's the tricky part, to figure out if it's the same part or just an edit... Same goes for Princes of the Universe (Early Master - Townhouse) shared here, it also features at the beggining of the movie, definately edited but quite the same version IMO |
inu-liger 16.06.2013 16:07 |
It's an edit that mostly follows the "demo" version's framework here up until the last chord that ends on a droning note. |
Sebastian 11.08.2013 18:11 |
I was wrong about 'Who Needs You' and I think I'd admitted that a while ago. Anyway, I also think 'One Year of Love' is Brian. |

Sebastian wrote: I was wrong about 'Who Needs You' and I think I'd admitted that a while ago. Anyway, I also think 'One Year of Love' is Brian.Fair enough Seb. Are you still convinced that John contributes harmonies on various studio recordings though?...;) |
Sebastian 25.08.2013 10:09 |
No, I was absolutely wrong about that as well. |
