OK, so this is one of those little elephants in the room as far as my collecting has gone over the years that I've been meaning to ask about for a long time.
I've seen this shared all across places like the HUB and some other Queen fan sites throughout the past few years, but to date I have yet to see ANY background story as to this little curios, being the Brian May piano "demos" for No-One But You consisting of two brief piano demonstrations of the song.
This sounds like something that would have come out of a documentary as we can hear Brian briefly stating that he wrote the song in G, but I would have absolutely no idea which. I'm 99% certain this was not in the "Making Of" bonus featurette on the Queen Rocks video!
Anyone know the source or story behind this? http://www.mediafire.com/?11wkum99ch50cxo
They are not demo's, but it is genuine.
This comes from a German documentary/promo aired on the Viva channel. (I must dig-out the off-air Viva promo sometime).
The Interview is conducted with Brian sitting at a Grand Piano. He is interviewed as usual.
To answer one of the questions he the talks about musicality if I recall correctly (eg: "It was written in the chord of... etc) Brian turns to piano to play a few bars.
Return to interview questions...
Development of tune (the original idea came from etc...) Brian turns to piano and plays a few bars more.
Close of Interview.
Cue: Only The Good Die young Official promo video
My guess turned out correct after all!! Thanks for confirming, John :-)
I hope you can dig out the Viva promo tape. Wouldn't mind watching it, would be nice to put a visual to the audio I posted :-D
I heard that audio probably 15 years ago and never thought about there being a video. Same with things like Brian singing "Did your chewing gum lose its flavor" (or something like that), Too much love will kill you in Italian, German and French, etc. I think maybe that was before MP3, you would go into Queen websites and some had these .WAV samples that took ages to download.
Unbelievable that it's been 16 years since No-One But You. I still recall it being played on the radio for the first time, waiting for an hour with my finger on the record-button of the tapedeck and going to the store in November to listen to it on headphones - but not having money to buy it, as I was only 12 at the time. Amazing that in less than a year I'd see Brian live and there would be 2 solo-albums :D

Me too lol. I was at my gran's house, my girlfriend was there too, and I almost wet my pants when I heard there would be a new Queen track out. Couldn't wait until Rocks came out: my birthday is in November anyway, so I ended up having it on MC, CD and vinyl. Happy days :)
I remember when Queen Rocks came out too, and people telling me that Queen was going to still record without Freddie, which is why the cover was the Queen crest blowing up. I thought the cover was a little interesting, to say the least.
I love No One But You. To me, that's the final chapter of Queen as it was.
