Alright, where are you Gregsynth ,you seem the one that always analyzes if songs are in pitch etc.i want you to analyze just how terrible my version of These are ,cause apperantly Freddie must be almost just as terrible according to this side by side comparison..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VS6b-kwmuxI Here is my version solo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRuumKZxJso |

Ok, ok - since you think I'm a hater, and won't accept my critique of your work, I let a mate of mine hear this. I didn't give him any background knowledge of who you are, what the arguing has been about or anything like that. Also, I didn't let him see the video - I just let him have the earphones. I'm sorry, but his reaction was that somebody was trying to do a poor impersonation, and that it was out of tune with poor phrasing. I shit you not, he actually used the word "sheep". Now, I'm not telling you this to make you look daft. I'm not telling you to dishearten you or even embarrass you. I'm telling you because it's what happened. Not everyone can be wrong, and that's another "no" to your "yes". And his was an impartial view. Please get the message - no-one hates you (although calling people names wouldn't help your cause if they did), they're just giving you genuine opinion in the hope you'll try to improve. But instead, you're just being pig-headed and telling them they're clueless. Seriously, this has been going on for years. Where are you getting? What are you achieving? The answer is nowhere and nothing. And before you start playing the "you couldn't do better" card, don't - because it's a tired argument. No-one here is claiming to be a good singer. You are, and, I repeat, the onus is on YOU to deliver. Why continue to post on QZ when you know what kind of backlash you'll get when you start dismissing honest criticism? I know why - because you're not serious about singing. Why sing when you can troll, eh? |
Mercuryking 06.05.2013 14:09 |
i dont agree, i actually think this is the closest to Freddies version there is out there. Bare in mind also that i sing into a shitty microphone compare to what Fred had, there are alot of factors. I don't have the same equipment such as compressors etc that an expensive studio has. All that considered , its one hell of a rendition of this song. Don't care what your friend or anybody says, i have ears and its very similiar to Freddies and is sure a hell of a lot better than Rogers version. |
john bodega 06.05.2013 14:36 |
I would say that there are a limited number of occasions where you have a sort of Freddie tonality - mainly when you're down in the midrange where your voice behaves itself the most. The 'sheep' thing is still an issue; I think you could use a bit of practice in tailing off from notes. In any case, people seem to really get worked up in these threads. I propose you all calm down and take it easy, this should help. link You're welcome. |

Mercuryking wrote: Don't care what your friend or anybody says. You don't care what anybody says? Well why didn't you just say so earlier? I wouldn't have bothered with you in the first place then! I'll just say this, though: you seem to think that hitting the same notes and rhythms as Freddie makes your version good, and a cover of a song should be judged by how closely the technical aspects are met. This is very far from the truth, however. Other versions of the song don't strive to be exactly what Freddie sang; they just want to sound good to peoples' ear holes, and in the collective opinion of both of my ear holes, Roger Taylor's versions last year were quite satisfying. Unfortunately, my ear holes didn't like you as much. It's just the way it is. It has to do with the tone of your voice more than anything else; I would agree with the people who have been using the word "sheep" to describe it. I don't know much about this whole singing business other than it's fun to do, but I suppose if you're really serious about this you should probably get some sort of formal training to help make your singing voice more pleasant. Other than that, I can't help you at all, and based on your above quote you really don't want my help either. |

Haha Zebonka , i actually thought it was some nice meditation music, to then get that nice surprise at the end and ruined everything :D But something inside me knew it couldnt just be a nice meditation video though.. Yea im far from being an complete singer but im learning more an more. I believe i can be the second best singer in the world after Freddie. |

First it was that i was out of tune, out of pitch and now it is my tone. Yea that sounds legit. Look im not saying that everybody will like my voice, im saying that it is certainly not horrible as you guys say. Its not out of tune, not out of pitch. I think Freddie sang the song best and everyone should strive to sing it like he did so, those other versions suck imo. Offcourse i must train, ive been singing for barely 2 years, give me a break. Freddie sang that song after 20 years of singing. |

Mercuryking wrote: Bare in mind also that i sing into a shitty microphone compare to what Fred had, there are alot of factors.Excuses, excuses, excuses. Shitty microphones don't change pitch, although they can definitely affect the tone. You can blame your equipment all you want (which by the way now puts an onus on you to upgrade your equipment to "prove" your case), but your performance as assessed in the other topic was by all accounts FLAT. |
Mercuryking 06.05.2013 15:06 |
Its perfectly legit excuses though. I don't know what you mean when you say that its flat but when i use my ears and listen, it sounds VERY alike Freddies version. You can't deny that, if you do then its very hard to take you seriously. This is the closest ive heard anyone sounding like Freddie in this song. |
Thistle 06.05.2013 15:07 |

Again, for the third time, practice what you preach. If you know you need training, and you are using 2 years' experience as an excuse, why don't you go away for a while, train, improve, and then come back later? Much later should give you the chance. Maybe by then our opinions will change. Either that we'll all be dead and the place will be overrun by mind-numbing, tone-deaf zombies. Mind you, in the event of the latter, at least you'd be in the perfect company. |

"I believe i can be the second best singer in the world after Freddie" I think the issue here is that it's such a big horse race that it doesn't really matter. Do you know how many singers there are in the world? The beauty of it is that you can do it however you like; why on Earth limit yourself by singling out one dead guy who can't fight back? Make something new, and stop arguing with your audience. Doesn't matter who is 'right' - just get on with the job. Am I speaking baloney here? |
Mercuryking 06.05.2013 15:21 |
It has nothing to do with Freddie. I sing to Freddie because he is the best singer ever to ever walk this planet and i really feel connected to him. I will make new stuff , with my own material. Im only exercising to Freddie cause its the best to exercise to. |
inu-liger 06.05.2013 16:51 |

Mercuryking wrote: I am a true musician, a self thought one so i don't know any theory or musical terms. I don't know how to read notes or anything. Im all by ear and write straight from feeling only. So, Freddie wasn't a true musician? Because he *did* have a degree of classical training, which he absolutely needed. Do you want to be a blues singer? Then you can get by simply with your ears (well, not *your* ears the way they are now, but with decent musical hearing (which can be practiced and improved), you could get by). Do you want to make music in the vein of Freddie Mercury? In that case, you need all the musical training you can get, ESPECIALLY classical harmony. The thing is, Mercuryking, there are quite a number of people on QZ who know a fair deal about music. Many of them have already responded to you. But you, arrogant as you are, refuse to even consider the constructive criticism they have to offer you. That alone means you are not a true musician (yet), because no true musician would EVER pass up on the chance of learning from those who are more proficient than they are. |
Mercuryking 12.05.2013 07:47 |
Brenski: you just don't know what you're talking about. If i don't die before, i will become the second best singer in the world after Freddie. I know it. You seriously have reevaluate what you said there about me not being that good, seriously. Even Freddie said this :critics can say whatever they want but in the end, you're the boss of yourself and lash the whip in the end. So the only one you truly can listen to, in the end is yourself and i really go with what I feel and that's the most important thing in the world. I will be the second best singer in the world. |
Thistle 12.05.2013 07:54 |

He is by far the best singer that has ever lived. There is no question about it what so ever. The most purest voice ever. The most genuine voice with more power than any other singer out there. I've always said that Freddie was not of this Earth. His life was almost biblical: like Jesus, he was sent to unite, heal spiritually and then pass over to a more heavenly plain. This notion is sustained by the fact that, during a ouija board night my sister took part in, she was told that my spirit guide was in attendance - then, said spirit guide revealed himself as a god, who once took human form on Earth. My sister outright asked if it was freddie.....and the answer was not no. Soon after, his ghost appeared in front of me at home, but just for a split second. He was dressed as he was in the TATDOOL video, except he was very healthy looking. It was only for a second, but he smiled at me, as though to say "everything's ok" and then disappeared. I also find that when I'm really in need of a break, just talking to the big wallrug I have of him helps.....and I usually find my answers! Now I need my meds. Nice talking to you :) |

Me: Alright, here is a side by side version with Freddies, tell me how this is out of tune or pitch You: So what, you copy sing it like Freddie did, doesn't make it good. I don't like your voice. Me: Where are all the bad things about my version, tell me cause i can't seem to find it as it blends very well with Freddies version.
