More than usual in recent weeks I've noticed QZ creeping into my offline life. Little things:
- I bought two books that came up on the Atheism thread: one that I had read as a library book years ago and decided I wanted to own, and Edward Green's most recent book on AIDS in Africa, which I will start to read as soon as I am done here
- I had this amazing hybrid conversation with my 18 year old son one night a few weeks ago when he came to rescue me after I ran out of gas about a) his feelings about Catholicism and some of the decisions I had made on his behalf when he was a child that stemmed from the Atheism thread and b) his patterns of Internet porn use that stemmed from the Porn Ban thread
- some stuff made me cry a few times
- a fellow QZer's recent kind words sent me happily off to the Y after I had cancelled those plans
- waunakonor's recent Bob Seger joke on one of his awesome poll threads sent me on a Bob Seger kick for a couple of days. I must have played 'Night Moves' and 'Accomp'ny Me' alone 10 times each.
I just find the blurry line between online life and offline life kind of interesting. I'd love to hear other anecdotes, though it may be one of those things that's snore worthy for most people.
^ LOL!
I had another reminder this morning of the general phenomenon in my car on the way to work. Every time I hear McCartney's 'Jet' I think of you. This is the result of a throwaway post from you a couple of years ago on this thread: link that made me laugh at the time and has now risen to the level of 'intrusive thought' in conjunction with poor Paul's earnest effort. LOL
When someone gives me a really nice comment on here, I take that away and am quite cheerful for the rest of the day. Same goes for when someone says something in real life.
Other than that, not that I can think of, which is kind of surprising considering how obssesively I've been on here for the past month or so. I'm finally Royalty! Yay!
I had another music-QZ moment this afternoon while out doing some errands at lunch. Toto makes me think of Microwave. I'd probably have to dig through old posts to figure out why.

don't usually agree with you on much - but i've been listening to Night Moves for last couple of years off and on. the title track is a key "life stages" song - every listener everywhere can identify with the song - from puberty to old age.
personally, with many changes going on in my life last few years....losing dad and brother to cancer, three job changes followed this month taking an early retirement package (aged 50) - i find the key line in the song (for me) is
"strange how the night moves, with autumn closing in"
apols for hijacking your thread
Not a hijack. Love that song and that whole last section that ends with your favourite line. It is definitely a top 10 all time song for me. In addition to what you described it has an atmosphere that is almost tangible. Beautiful. And Accomp'ny Me is a perfect love song. I was watching a live performance of Night Moves from last year or so and Seger still sounds perfect. It made me go so far as to look up a tour schedule, but nothing that close unfortunately.
