all the rest were different
it was only the last four albums
that were named after themselves
this is very significant and means much
a kind of magic
the miracle
innuendo
made in heaven
yeah, see what you mean - about eponymous albums
but by applying a bit of slack to the theory you can get a few more in there QUEEN II - had march of the black QUEEN & white QUEEN as it began = 2x "QUEEN" SONGS or QUEEN II JAZZ - had "more of that JAZZ" THE GAME - had "play THE GAME" FLASH OST - had "FLASH"
and bending reason a little ....wasn't the original working title of the "overture" intro to Tie Your mother Down called "A DAY AT THE RACES OVERTURE" ?
It kind of does, actually. Wasn't Roger working on the song when the album was released? Not sure why he took so long, but its eventual release was quite timely with the punk movement.
At the original topic, that's actually bothered me quite a bit as well. It looks like they just completely stopped being creative with their album titles, not even trying to alter them a little like with Jazz or The Game. I'm not entirely sure why they did that, but it's not a real big deal anyway.

Yep, quite right. But still it wasn't released on the actual album with the same title, so I don't dare include it to this list.

Significant in what way? Means much in what way? Please elaborate (not that I think the answer will be significant or mean much).
I think it ads some mystique and some attitude when there is not a song with the album name. its like its more of here is the concept "...." . also more artistic.

i think it depends. some really great albums
didn't - rumours for instance
some really great classic albums did
bat out of hell
wish you were here
others added genuine mystique by dropping the album title into the lyric of a song on that album
examples:
"i'll see you on the dark side of the moon" appears in Brain Damage on the album DSOTM
"i see a rainbow rising" appears in Stargazer on Rainbow's "Rising" lp
personally, i couldnt care what an album is called - it doesn't make it any less great or shit
They are just title tracks. I don't know that one should read too much into them other than in theory they POTENTIALLY help sell the l.p. For example I think that it is great when a compilation, i.e. greatest hits or best of has not only one new song but a few and then have one of them be the title track. I still think that this is something that Queen should do with some ideas for certain types of best ofs once they get to recording again as they should.
Maybe the "lazy" part was that they couldn't think of a good name for the title tracks and just named them after the album...instead of the other way around. As for A Kind Of Magic, they could've just called it The Highlander Soundtrack.
that ^^^ wouldn't work
because there was no song on the album either with the word in the title - or the lyrics
as for A Kind of Magic - it's a good title for the album, as it derives itself from the dialogue from the film

Ouch!
pretty much true though!
not really true.
a third of the (original) album (to my knowledge) was never part of the Highlander soundtrack in any way at all
one vision (used in Iron Eagle?)
pain is so close to pleasure
and
friends will be friends
also when you think that the new york, new york track didn't make it, and the tile track was seriously "funked up" from the film version....this makes AKOM anything but a soundtrack album
