I never had a sister, but I remember always hating dolls since I was little. I've always found something eerie about them, like they can steal your soul or something. And this is another reason why I never stay in a room by myself if there is a doll there. Fake or not, this would have made me shit my pants... link
I have 3 older sisters, so during my childhood our flat was FULL of dolls. I remember when I was a little boy some of them scared the shit out of me - those who looked like real babies. I don't know why, but I was absolutely terrified when I saw one too close to me :-)
I hate grown people that buy dolls.
Action figures too... that's lame. Unless it's a life size replica model of something it's pretty lame.
But DOLL dolls? No. Not even after seeing CHILD'S PLAY
Immediately thought it was funny. ... not scary. And I was 5 yrs old.
But
Dummies. .... puppets. I was scared of a psa that came on around midnight for time buffers in California during the 1980's NIGHT COURT era. Sometimes I'd get sick and stay in my mother's room (3-4 1/2) years old prone to stomach problems
It was an ad that featured floating balloons, different "educational narratives" about how various things were done. One sticks out vividly in my mind about peanut packing factories. ... this one ventriloquist dummy came on (usually when I was left alone) and it terrified the living hell out of me. I wanted to destroy it.
So I CAN identify with it sort of. But this dummy was being animated on tv without assistance.
Frightening. I'll scour YouTube someday and confront my fear by kicking in a monitor (hopefully at a friends house or the library)
Not really, although some of them look evil. I'm not a fan of those awful dead eyed wax dolls, but they don't bother me either. But i know they really freak some people out.
