Dear Queen fans, first of all nice to meet you all! I am Gabriele Baldocci, a concert pianist from Italy... and I've always loved Freddie and Queen, even if until now I've been concertizing with my piano playing classical music around the world. Today is an important day and I would like to make a special announcement about a very nice project, quite unusual for me: I will record an album of my PIANO TRANSCRIPTIONS OF QUEEN SONGS which will be called SHEER PIANO ATTACK! I would like you all, friends and music lovers, to be co-producers of the album through a crowd funding platform called Musicraiser. Basically you will give a contribution which is nothing more than a presale of the album and of the merchandise and you will be active part of this idea. The goal is to reach 3000 Euros for the production of the album. If we reach it, you'll receive your rewards.. if we don't reach it, you will be given your contribution back immediately. Watch the video here, spread the news and... support SHEER PIANO ATTACK! http://www.musicraiser.com/projects/847-sheer-piano-attack P.S. I'd love to know if you like the project. I will soon launch a poll for letting Queen fan choosing the ideal tracklist of the album. Thank you so much for the support! Cheers from London,Gabriele |

Hello, Gabrielle. This sounds cool. I might be able to help; I'll have to get back on that one. I hope this works out, though. |
rastlyn 10.04.2013 13:18 |
Thank you so much Waunakonor! I have been playing Queen songs since I was born, basically, and it took me years to develop very unique piano transcriptions of them... I really hope you will like the result! Take care and thanks again! |

I want to record some stuff. Send me money. |
rastlyn 10.04.2013 17:02 |
Dear mooghead, I am going to record this album anyway, as I did record many albums of classical music, which is what I always played in my life. The reason why I did a crowd-funding album is because I thought that an independent production co-produced by Queen fan would be a better idea than a production managed by recording labels. The contributions are basically a sort of pre-sale of the album, nothing more. I am not receiving any money right now: Musicraiser is gathering it for the project and if we reach the goal people will have their copies of the albums and their rewards. If we don't reach it... people will just get their money back and I will completely produce it. |

Find a recordlabel .... |
mooghead 10.04.2013 17:13 |
In what way is it being co produced by Queen fans? In what way is the word 'produced' different to 'funded' in this respect? |
rastlyn 10.04.2013 17:29 |
Mooghead, the amount of money I set with the goal (3000€) don't cover up the expenses of the production of a whole album. I will put another great deal of money to finish the project. The difference between producing and funding is that funding is just giving money but I will let all Queen fan take part to the project in many ways. That is co-producing. For instance, I have some pieces which I wrote long time ago and I will include them in the project. But I decided that Queen fans will be the ones who will give their final word on the track list and choose which songs they would love to hear transcribed for piano solo. There are not going to be simple "arrangements" of the songs but real piano transcriptions, so I will try to use my knowledge of the instrument to bring out the best of Queen music. Besides, I will generally try not to record Queen songs that already have a prominent piano track (because it would be just an imitation of what they already did, and I cannot possibly do better than them) but try to face a different and more rare repertoire instead. I hope you will enjoy the final product. |

Is there no way to cut your costs? All you need is a basic studio setup and a few mics for your piano. The only real expense is the CDs and packaging, and you can definitely do a few hundred copies for less than 3 grand. Best of luck to you, all the same ! Looking forward to hearing a sample of your work. |

Ti auguro un grande successo. hi Gabriele , congratulations for the initiative. as you already know there is a similar cd (queen piano tribute) performed by anonymous artists, released in the U.S., but I can't tell you that It is a wonder. with your background certainly your production will be fantastic. finally an Italian who dares!! I wish you a great success. best regards Gianluca |

Looking forward to hearing a sample of your work. A "very basic studio setup" costs around 650 euros per day, plus the cost of hiring a piano and the tuner (around 1000 Euros for two days, but this recording is gonna take at least three days). For a commercial production we need just the best. I cannot just put some random mics on my own piano. We need good acoustics, a professional sound engineer, a perfect piano. After the recording phase there is the mixing and the post-production. This is quite a long phase where the artist, together with one mixing technician, chooses the "final sound" of the products. Mixing an album costs around 50 Euros per hour. Then there are the expenses for the graphics: production and design of the booklet. Plus the expenses of paying the rights to Queen. And, finally, printing and distributing the album. I have a recording label which I am working with for my classical projects. Make a search on youtube or iTunes or Amazon and you will see I have many products on the market, so you can imagine I know the productive process quite well, for that is my job. For this product I decided to go independent to have a better control of the whole process and let my audience participate. That is quite a common thing between musicians: the music band Marillion, which used to be quite popular back in the 80s (especially because they sounded like Genesis!) now produce all their album through preselling copies and merchandise with a crowd-funding campaign. Fans are happy because they feel part of it and they are happy to develop great products with their help. I hope now the situation is clearer ;) |

I wish you a great success. best regards Gianluca Grazie mille Gianluca! Thank you so much Gianluca! I know the CD and unfortunately it is quite a very bad product. It is also a scam: what you hear is not a real piano but some badly done midi files... That's why they didn't write the name of the performers. I really hope I'll produce something nice for everybody to enjoy! Ciao! G. |

Dear friends, this is more or less the tracks that I would like to include. What do you think? What would you like me to add/remove? I will have a soprano friend of mine and a great singer (and for great I really mean GREAT, he is one of the best Freddie Mercury clones around) who will join me for some tracks... so I thought of some songs from Barcelona.... Keep Yourself Alive White Queen Innuendo Ogre Battle Dreamer’s Ball The Prophet’s Song The Miracle Death On Two Legs Bijou Brighton Rock Princes of the Universe Sail Away Sweet Sister Too much love will kill you Save Me Bohemian Rhapsody We Are The Champions How can I go on Ensueño Thanks!!! - G |

Daaaaaammnn... That is a very good list. Good to know that you've got plenty of obscurities. I was kind of hoping for Black Queen and My Fairy King, but even without those two this is a great set. Some Barcelona songs would be cool. Maybe some songs from the other two guys? Resurrection, for example? From what I've heard and seen so far, this is really good. Glad this is happening. |

It sounds really wonderful. I hope you do mange to produce the album. I love the set list, but please consider including March of the Black Queen. It is such a powerful song! I love the way it is performed at the Rainbow show. Anyway, good luck. |

Oh, and Nevermore! How did I forget about that? |

Mooghead, you want to provoke, I'm not here to argue with anybody. There are two kinds of producers: recording producer, executive producers. People that are funding the project are executive producers. I don't know if you gathered information about me and my activity, this is not a nice way to treat a professional who has been doing his job honestly and at his best all his life. You are quite disrespectful, in a very useless and offending way. I'm not gonna longer answer you. If you don't like this project just stop reading this post. |
mooghead 11.04.2013 15:14 |
"There are two kinds of producers: recording producer, executive producers." I am speechless. At the end of the day you are offering a sleeve note to a recording that no one will buy, or will even be made into a physical product. I have made no attempt to 'gather' information about you. Don't flatter yourself. Is this you?.... link |
waunakonor 11.04.2013 16:51 |
mooghead wrote: BTW, I play an instrument, compliment me and send me moneyHe wasn't asking for compliments. And I'm going to send him money because he's talented and creative enough to create a product that sounds really good to me. From the little snippets I heard from that video, I would love a full album of the stuff. If you did something similar, I might consider sending you money as well. In the meantime, your sarcasm isn't clever and doesn't make sense. mooghead wrote: I am speechless.Boy, I wish you really were. mooghead wrote: At the end of the day you are offering a sleeve noteNope. He's giving out a lot of stuff if you give him more than 5 Euros. mooghead wrote: that no one will buyFalse. mooghead wrote: or will even be made into a physical product.Wrong again. CDs will be released, assuming he reaches his goal. mooghead wrote: Don't flatter yourself.Don't pester him. mooghead wrote: Is this you?.... linkNo. What on earth would give you that idea? Actually, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if that were you, given the unhelpful and irrelevant nature of that post. |

Basically, Mooghead is being a knob. I thought there was enough of them on here |

Don't flatter yourself. Is this you?.... linkReally, what's your problem? If you don't support the idea, don't support it. You really don't have to play a bigheaded troll here. Many people consider Musicraiser a great idea, a convenient way to avoid all the major music label bullshit. It's not only about "I want to record some songs > Send me some money", but also "> You'll get the songs as a reward". And after all recording songs properly DOES cost money. Of course you don't have to agree with the idea of this form of fundraising, but why be so cynical? Arguing about semantics is a poor strategy of argumentation. Cheers! |
Lplix 12.04.2013 00:58 |
dear mooghead, everything lies in the fact that he (Gabriele), as you, play an instrument, but he dares to propose and enterprising. Why don't you try to do the same instead of criticize who have the courage to get involved ? best regard |
john bodega 12.04.2013 02:43 |
*shrug* I don't see the problem with crowdfunding. You're still giving money to someone and getting something in return. |

I see no problem with it either. |
