Well. Because im a Queen-fan i simply had to hear what the guys were doing with Adam Lambert. So i tried to stay open minded at got the 14/7 2012 concert from London to listen to. A couple of nice surprices in the setlist. Somebody to love, Who wants to Live Forever and Youre my Best Friend. But..... I really think AL's voice is to highpiched and thin for the queen music. Too much vibrato on his voice also. The end of Somebody To love was really embarrising for me because he tried too much with his terrible voice. And when they then played I want it all i simply became irritated because his voice just isnt raw enough. The band. I think they played the song at bit too slow and that makes the concert sound a bit like a mediocre Queen cover-band for me. Ill have to listen it to the finish though but im not too happy with what im hearing. Is it the quality of the recording or simply the venue that makes it less good? I dont think i have to listen to more Queen+AL concerts after this. What do you think? (i hope that was understandable. Im not english) |

My opinion about AL in a few words ... The good thing : He has a very nice voice The bad thing : he can't sing. The only thing he did during the tour was screeching |
Gregsynth 09.04.2013 10:38 |
Plus he was horribly off key on all the shows. Add the uncontrolled vibrato and yelling/wailing to reach notes, and you'll get bad vocal performances. |

His "Who wants to live forever" had good moments but I agree with the above posters' opinion overall. I think what was great about those shows was the first 5-6 tracks, with the Flash intro, WWRY fast, Seven seas of rhye and Keep Yourself Alive. Awesome setlist. |

Agreed with the above. However, I make a habit of regularly listening to the videos of the concerts so I can skip over to Roger and Brian's set. Beautiful performances from both of them, and some of my favorite live Queen moments. Brian directing Love of My Life was beautiful as always, it's awesome hearing him jam to songs like Somebody to Love and The Show Must Go On with the audience singing most of the words. That was a really fun time, and Roger was perfect singing A Kind of Magic and These Are the Days of Our Lives. So passionate, and the old man still has a great voice on him after all these years. So, don't completely discount the shows; just skip over the good parts, which is basically anytime the supposed frontman is not on stage. That includes the guitar solo and drum duel, which are pretty fun as always. |

AL = auditory and visual assault. Basically Roger and Brian should just do it on their own and get Martel to sing the songs they either cant sing or don't want to sing. Now that's a concert I'd pay a big sum to go see! |

I went to the first night at Hammersmith (11/7).... link skip to 3:20 and listen to his odd bit of singing When he started doing that I was standing there thinking 'who the fuck is this guy' In reference to the first post and I want it all, it was definitely played much too slowly. Roger was great, but he is definitely getting slower. Not unexpected, though |
Wiley 09.04.2013 18:34 |
Good thing someone brought this up but, in my book, Roger Taylor singing and drumming to "A Kind of Magic" is one of the highlights of the last 20 years in Queen history. I used to HATE that song and couldn't understand why they played it with Paul Rodgers. Then I saw a video of Roger singing it while drumming and I just loved it. |

He is not right for this job. He is simply not a rock star. He has a great voice but not for the rock music. Too much squeals, too little rock. |

the best: roger and brian the worst, or the least best, adam lambert |
jrd1951 13.04.2013 12:13 |
I saw bits of the show and thought that he is incredibly brave to even attempt it...Bri and Rog know that there is no way anyone can match Freddie, they just love playing live! It hasn't harmed Adam's career in the UK,or even harmed Queen's sales in the U.S.(welcome to today's record business)at least one of them wisely stayed away................................................................................................................................ |

5 Singers Who Could Replace Freddie Mercury In Queen May 26, 2013 Michael Allred Music 1 comment 1. Adam Lambert Adam-Lambert1 Perhaps my most controversial pick, especially to some Queen fans(!) Lambert rose to stardom on the “American Idol” TV show a few years ago. Shortly after finishing second that season, he publically came out as a gay man which could have hurt his burgeoning career. It didn’t. His debut album placed at #2 and his most recent album debuted at #1 in America (also, Lambert became the first openly gay singer to have an album debut at #1.) His brief career has been filled with taking chances and a willingness to be raked over the coals for his choices (in song, in fashion, his sexuality.) His soaring voice is incredible, Queen’s Brian May said that only two male voices have ever given him goosebumps, one being Freddie Mercury’s and the other belonging to Lambert. He’s only 30 years old and obviously still has some growing left to do (don’t we all?) and as he grows more confidant in his voice and finds solid footing as a live performer, I think he’ll really take the world by storm. My one bone to pick is that at times he insists on these unnecessary vocal runs live which are more distracting than anything but when he hunkers down and moderates his singing, it’s a thing of pure beauty. Much like how the Queen+ Paul Rodgers collaboration happened, Queen ended up performing live with Lambert at a televised awards show in Europe. The resulting performance sparked interest from both sides to doing something again at a later date. The following Summer, Queen+ Adam Lambert went on a short mini-tour of Europe ending in three sold out shows in London. Lambert’s youth added a certain vitality and freshness to the old Queen classics, something that we hadn’t seen from any of the Queen+ projects to date. His vocal range and versatility showed he could indeed handle the majority of Queen’s wide variety of song styles. Brian May has said that he and Lambert are in constant communication so perhaps something more substantial is coming than just a handful of live shows and I certainly hope that to be the case. I have to think that a young, openly gay and fantastically gifted performer like Lambert would be exactly the choice Mercury himself would give a rousing thumbs up to. |

"skip to 3:20 and listen to his odd bit of singing" Christ. It's so fucking bad, in 60 years Spielberg's going to make a black and white tragedy film about it. |

"Christ. It's so fucking bad," Totally agree. My ears are bleeding. What the hell was that? Ohhh babe. OOhh Babe. OOOHHHHH Babe. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BA- *Brian destroying his guitar* *Roger having a heart attack* *Rufus getting a shotgun* |

Say what you will about AL but he's achieved more than a great many formerly unknown singers. And he's come a long way, baby. |

Monday, June 17, 2013 More Queen With Adam Lambert May Be Coming Just days after having lunch with Psy and talking about a collaboration, Brian May has said that there may be another round for Queen being fronted by Adam Lambert. Lambert and Queen started their mutual love affair during the American Idol finale in 2009 when he sang with the group right before losing the competition to Kris Allen (even Allen said that Lambert should have won). Last year, he sang for the band at a number of appearances including three shows at London's Hammersmith Apollo, drawing generally strong reviews. May was recently interviews by BBC U.K. where he said "We are talking about doing something with Adam, probably for TV. He’s an amazing artist and a very nice guy. We keep in touch and have a good friendship." It looks, though, like it could be a one-off as May added "We're not talking Read more: link |
