According to a new book not quite available through the well-stocked and up-to-date bookseller amazon.com, the late Princess Diana was smuggled into gay bars by Queen legend Freddie Mercury during the late 1980s while she was still married to Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne… Dressed in drag by her friends, Diana, the People’s Princess went completely unnoticed, posing as a rather attractive and fashionably dressed male model in an army jacket, black leather cap and aviator sunglasses. The aviators may have belonged to Freddie, who was known for wearing them, but Diana is photographed sporting quite a few different pairs herself… This is how Diana enjoyed a night out on the town with pals Mercury, comedian Cleo Rocos and TV star Kenny Everett, void of attention as they visited places including the notorious gay bar Royal Vauxhall Tavern in south London. In her new book “The Power of Positive Drinking,” Cleo Rocos claims “When we walked in ... we felt she was obviously Princess Diana and would be discovered at any minute." Somehow, people just seemed to completely overlook her. She sort of disappeared into the crowd, but she apparently loved it, says Cleo. Rocos adds that even though the venue was jam-packed, the presence of Mercury, Everett and herself helped divert attention from Diana so that she could order drinks at the bar. Their little group left after about 20 minutes. Remembering, Rocos states, “On we inched, through the leather throngs and thongs, until finally we reached the bar. We were nudging each other like naughty schoolchildren. Diana and Freddie were giggling, but she did order a white wine and a beer. Once the transaction was completed, we looked at one another, united in our triumphant quest. We did it!” “She did look like a beautiful young man,” recalls Rocos, adding “She was always a very fit girl, so they might have thought, ‘There's a nice young man with pert buttocks.’” Who can argue with that, but another thing, Princess Diana was quite tall for a woman and not just "fit" but athletically built. Reading about the rebellious spirit of Princess Diana, late former wife of Prince Charles, in tabloids it’s not difficult to imagine that the noble-born Lady Di allowed herself to be smuggled into a gay bar – or several – during the late 1980’s to have a good time with some friends and get away from the Brit royals at Buckingham Palace… There are also stories that she and Sarah Ferguson (former wife of Prince Andrew, brother of Prince Charles), also known as “Fergie,” would dress up and go incognito into town to see what mischief they could get up to, thick as thieves, as the expression goes… Diana was also very close to rock legend Elton John and visited AIDS patients at hospitals. Once King of Pop Freddie Mercury himself died of HIV/AIDS in 1991. Most of all, it’s evident that Princess Diana, the vibrant mother-in-law that the former Kate Middleton, Catherine Duchess Cambridge never got to meet, loved the thrill of an incognito adventure, knowing full well that she could be discovered at any time… link |

Guuuuhhh...Wow! From reading the comments of a different article, this story is apparently old, but this is my first time hearing about it. That's really interesting. Sounds like they had a good time. She looks like John Lennon :) |

Honestly, you wouldn't have had to do much to make Diana look like a man. |

Freddie had very little to do with Kenny Everett after 1980 and he never actually met Princess Diana. The only royal Freddie was on first name terms with was H.R.H. Prince Andrew, who had to turn down Freddie’s invitation to go to the London club HEAVEN with himself and a mixed group of ballet dancers after a performance at the Royal Opera House. |

You want proof you say? Check attachment. Also, the entire band met with Princess Diana (among others) at the Kempton Race Track at the DATR era. I think the story is perfectly plausible and it would not be strange or weird to me if it's true. It's the 80s! |

Secondly, if Diana had met the band during the Day At The Races era she would only have been 15 years old. |

He may be ignorant of certain things yes, but he is talking there as if certain, so on balance I trust his words, for there would be no reason to make that up, and he was in a position to know these things. But just maybe, he kept that secret from anybody, plus kept secret he was friends again with kenny Everett, because he was friends and supporting with someone else also and didn't want to cause more conflict? Plus he did not want anyone to have to bear the weight of keeping things from the royal family? Especially prince Charles? After all Paul Burrell the phoebe lookalike who served another royal household, had to take Diana out in the car boot covered with a blanket so she could go see people in hospital. Read English history it is full of such strange outlandish tales. |
