Post another video of Dragon Attack that is more entertaining and with better vocals than this one: |
someonewholikesadam 17.03.2013 11:01 |
And Freddie doesn't count |
cmsdrums 17.03.2013 13:39 |
Right - cos loads of people have covered Dragon Attack yes? |
someonewholikesadam 17.03.2013 13:50 |
A 10 second search yielded four covers. I'm sure there's many more! |

someonewholikesadam, we get it. You like Adam. Nothing wrong with that. But JFC, tell me you're a troll who likes to stir shit up. Because if you think that Adam Lambert is anything but a decent karaoke singer you're insane. Freddie Mercury was a giant. Adam Lambert is a singer who has range. I get fanatacism, but you are deluded if you think AL is in the same galaxy as Freddie Mercury. He is horrible as a Queen lead singer, Brian and Roger's horrible, horrible, horrible taste and need for atttention aside. He's fucking horribllllllllleeeeeeeeeee. |
someonewholikesadam 17.03.2013 18:33 |
Dear Sheer Brass Neck Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. I get it. You hate AL having anything to do with Queen. But if you think your opinion is fact, you are wrong :). It is just an opinion. |

Seriously, SWLA. In your heart of hearts, do you really, really believe that Adam Lambert belongs in the same conversation as Freddie Mercury? I think he has a great voice. He is good at what he does (Broadway, theatre) etc. I think you are American so I will use a baseball analogy. He is a prospect in A ball. Freddie was arguably the greatest singer/frontman of the rock era. He wrote more great songs than all but a handful of people in history. He stole the show at the biggest concert in the post hippie era. Statues will be built for him. Adam Lambert may have a Glambulge dildo to memorialize him at a sex shop in San Francisco when he buys the farm. So please, tell me you don't think that AL is even in FM's league. If you love him as a fan I get it, of you are comparing them as artists (impossible as AL isn't) then you have no concept of what music is and I understand you. |
someonewholikesadam 17.03.2013 22:40 |
SBN, I think you just like to hear yourself talk. You are not listening to me. I have said many times that AL is no Freddie. That's why when I started my thread, I said Freddie doesn't count because of course he is better than AL and a fantastic song writer (which AL is not). I am American but I don't like sports but your analogy is not lost on me. However, I WILL REPEAT, AL is enormously talented at what he does. He has a GREAT voice. He is a PHENOMENAL live performer. He is a wonderful role model for LGBT youth. And I repeat again MILLIONS in addition to myself feel this way. I don't think we're all wrong. |
lyricalassasin77 18.03.2013 00:34 |
Not a bad try by no means, but didn't like it....he's too high pitched for my liking....I'll stick with Freddie's version |
Stelios 18.03.2013 06:24 |
A. Lambert does something ruther cool in his version. As he closing the bars of the pre-chorus (ex. gonna eat that sound yeah yeah yeah yeah) he gets on a very high register. That gives a sort of "flying" feeling to that great boogy song. |
friedrich 18.03.2013 08:44 |
this one is nice ... ;) link |
Raffy 18.03.2013 09:50 |
link this cover version ABSOLUTELY ROCKS! |
Raffy 18.03.2013 09:55 |
One thing that always has driven me mad is the fact that Brian never left poor John space for his bass solo. Only at MK '82 that happened because May broke a string. |
cmsdrums 18.03.2013 11:09 |
AL would be an excellent musical theatre performer, however as frontmen of a rock band? No chance I'm afraid. That's not slagging off his abilities in his own genre or field, but it's like asking Usain Bolt to run the marathon; " he's a runner right?" "The quickest in the world right?" "So he can run a marathon brilliantly and better than anyone else yeah?" No............ |
deleted user 18.03.2013 11:28 |
Thank you SWLA. I always knew Freddie was just absolutely amazing, but I did not realise just how much more superior he is compared to any other singer until I saw the 2 videos (AL and FM) directly one after the other. The voice, the style, the power! You have really proven to us all that Freddie was, is and always will be simply the best! |
angermair73 18.03.2013 15:37 |
Lambert sing okay but not so powerfull. Also the music is too slow and soft in that song. Well thats my opinion |
Missreclusive 18.03.2013 21:17 |
LOL..we watched Freddie first then AL and an 8 yr old here had some things to say...with regard to AL "Who is that? Horrible hat He's disgusting! His voice is more girly..not even close to Freddies voice, I don't like it! Lets listen to Freddie singing Dragon Attack.." There you have it. |
someonewholikesadam 18.03.2013 21:50 |
But Missr. , The thread topic is Dragon Attack Challenge and you are supposed to post another video with better vocals and performance of Dragon Attack than AL, not counting Freddie. The topic wasn't Kids Who Listen to Bieber and Have Not Developed Ability to Discern Good Music When They Hear It and Therefore Parrot Adults. |
bobbyo 19.03.2013 02:04 |
This is better, if only for the jeans... link |
someonewholikesadam 19.03.2013 07:13 |
Ha! Good one. I like AL's vocals better but this guy has some good moves and gotta love the clamdiggers! |
Band Forever 19.03.2013 09:42 |
You have to compare the ages of the performers but even taking this into account Freddie by long long way he is more into the song and gives a great vocal on a brilliant performance of Dragon Attack by the band moreover I think is vastly superior to the album version. AL a more natural mover and dancer but Freddie not noted for dancing more posturing. |

Of course he knows I'm an FM fan but he knows nothing of AL. SWLA realizes I dislike AL and gets all in a twist if you dare say anything neg. about him. Dragon Attack is a rock song, which likely inspired the sounds of bands such as Extreme. In contrast, Mssr. Camembert's version is sleazy and cheesy, reminiscent of a Las Vegas lounge act, which is, incidentally, where his career is heading. He completely misses the point. |
someonewholikesadam 19.03.2013 19:45 |
What point does he miss, MIss Holly, that he should change his wonderful style that delights so many? I hope he does perform in Las Vegas after he comes back from selling out venues and wowing fans across the globe. We miss him :(. |
someonewholikesadam 19.03.2013 19:50 |
Sexaay! Seriously. He is about as boring as listening to paint dry. That being said, the guitar is phenomenal. |
Missreclusive 19.03.2013 20:17 |
btw, which concert is the DA with Freddie? |
someonewholikesadam 19.03.2013 20:45 |
I think one difference between me and some of you is I prefer to experience entertainment for all the senses. I like to hear great singing and see someone who is nice to look at and who actually entertains. |

I thought I explained that already. "miss" is off the mark too. |

I don't really mind AL. I saw him with Queen last summer (and he did an okay job). But watching that video of him here, then watching the video of Freddie singing it afterwards, it kinda leaves him looking extra lame. |
Missreclusive 20.03.2013 19:13 |
I understand perfectly that I do not know everything. I just don't like AL, listening or watching...not entertaining to me at all. Not sure what mark I missed....lol |
deleted user 21.03.2013 11:01 |
Actually, I just don't understand the whole point of this exercise.. why should I waste my time looking for covers of DA when I can spend that time listening to the original! The perfect original! |
tomchristie22 22.03.2013 05:24 |
I think I could manage better than Adam, sadly enough (I'm not a terrible singer, although off the top of my head I doubt I have the range for this song). Sure, he hits all the notes, but completely misses the mark stylistically and tone wise in my book. I haven't been bothered to seek out a better cover version, because I honestly doubt I'd have much luck finding a good one. It also doesn't help that it's so hard to define what makes a 'good' cover in the first place. |
someonewholikesadam 22.03.2013 16:45 |
But that is part of what makes Adam unique. When he covers a song, he doesn't mimic the original version. Rather, he puts his own spin and interpretation on it. Take his Ring of Fire cover on American Idol as an example. And today he just finished his sold-out solo concert in Finland where he easily sold out the 13,000-seat venue. He must be doing something right. And he's cheesy, sleazy, sexy, wears lots makeup, and he is fabulous. and, yes, most of my posts end up with posting youtubes of adam :) |
Holly2003 23.03.2013 09:31 |
But that is part of what makes Bieber/Britney/Nicki etc unique. When s/he covers a song, s/he doesn't mimic the original version. Rather, s/he puts his/her own spin and interpretation on it. And today s/he just finished his/her sold-out solo concert in [insert venue] where s/he easily sold out the venue. S/he must be doing something right. And s/he's cheesy, sleazy, sexy, wears lots makeup, and is fabulous! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Or, in other words, being popular with the masses, housewives, teens etc doesn't equate to artistic skill. These people are doing something right, they're exploiting their limited ability to the max. Good for them, but that doesn't qualify them, or indeed Mssr. Camembert, to sing lead vocals for Queen, one of the 20th century's greatest rock bands. So, please, pipe down would you? |
someonewholikesadam 23.03.2013 10:07 |
And you would be in a better place to judge who should sing with Queen than Brian and Roger. Because you are MISS HOLLY. Now, pipe down, would ya :) |

One question for SWLA.. You do know that this is a Queen forum, right? So why do you keep trying to shove AL into our faces? Even if he did play a couple of shows with Brian and Roger. (So did many other musicians.) I am sure he is good at his own kind of music, but we are just not interested. Go publish on an AL forum, where I am sure your posts will be really appreciated. |

The fact that singers like Adam Lambert have made a living from music speaks volumes of the industry, and to a lesser extent, society itself. If he was singing his karaoke 30 years ago he'd be making his money as an Avon Lady. |
