Also, did Argo seriously win best picture?
Argo sure did win. Haven't seen it but only heard good things.
I'd honestly put LPDA in my top 3 but there you go. Voted Staying Power, same as last 2 rounds. Do people really like Staying Power better than Las Palabras De Amor? Not criticising, just wouldn't have thought it.

You haven't read any Canadian media recently then. :) Poopstorm of irritation here, several times making the front pages in the months since Argo was released. The movie portrays the CIA as the brains and swashbuckling heroes of the operation with Canada sidelined to a virtually inert lump of lapdog. The former Canadian ambassador at the centre of the story was livid with aspects of the movie, in particular an ending that sees the CIA 'deciding to let the Canadians have the credit', followed by a post script that noted Ambassador Taylor's 112 citations, with the clear implication that he didn't deserve them. Wholly insulting and unnecessary for dramatic license. It's not unusual of course to fictionalize aspects of history in film portrayals in order to tell a good story, but the particular twists in this one unfortunately align with existing negative perceptions about some aspects of the American national character, fair or not. Jimmy Carter was interviewed on CNN the evening before the awards and essentially called it a great but wholly inaccurate film in the first minute of his exchange with Piers Morgan: link
There is always a bit of snark-worthy self-congratulatory inbredness going on at the Oscars, but Michelle Obama at the White House surrounded by members of the military awarding Best Picture to a flim that makes both Hollywood and the American government look like superstars was a bit much, even for the Oscars. I LOLd. :)
...........and this should of been Daniel Day Lewis' 4th best actor oscar, that he did'nt get one for his 'Bill the Butcher' Cutting in Gangs of New York was a travesty to rival Al Pacino's for the Godfathers and Peter O'Toole for 'Lawrence' et al.
Can't say I feel sorry for a man who's won 3 Best Actor Oscars. Anyways most bad ass song on Hot Space IMO is a tie for me between "Put Out the Fire" & "Backchat"....worst song is "Life is Real" IMO...
Never have I seen so much contempt toward Life is Real. I didn't realize that was a thing. I honestly don't understand.
Lincoln should have won best picture. There are inaccuracies there too, of course, but that film was genius.
I seriously don't get all the hate for Life Is Real. I voted for Back Chat, whom I thought was one of the least liked tracks by fans.
I still haven't seen Argo yet, mainly because of the Candian reviews. I did see Django Unchained and Lincoln.
Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones should have won best actress and best supporting actor.
I haven't seen Les Mis yet, but quite a few people I know have, and agree that Sally Field should have won.
Waltz was really great, don't get me wrong, but he portrayed a fictional character. Portraying a historical character is much more difficult, I find, than a character that was created from scratch.
All in all, I really like Life Is Real.
Seen Django and Les Mis, still gotta get around to Lincoln. Thought Django was great, maybe better than Basterds (I'd have to see it again to decide though). Les Mis was decent, pretty subpar musically though, especially since it was trying to be so faithful to the (excellent) stage show.
