Seriously, now: you have Queen fan mixes forum here which hosts about 10 active topics a month; not even all of them being new entries. What are you people waiting for? How can you expect new good Queen remixes to arrive if nobody’s practicing? Or, you don’t want any Queen remixes arriving at all ;-)… what do you say? |

on the basis of his [ahem] theory....the current Atomic Kitten reunion should produce some (as yet) previously unachieved levels of audio excretia - because i (and 99.999%) of the planet couldn't give a flying fuck about it |

Now I know what’s holding me back [figuratively speakin XD] from presenting my mixes to a fan site: the fans!!! They are so uninterested… rude, huh :shiver: I better go to a DJ site. I can present my Queen-mix ideas there so I can communicate and fans can dust their CDs. To each his own!TomP63 wrote: I'd say you go ahead, what's stopping you then?Yeah, well... it's so good a question I need some time  :-D Dear fans, it’s a bit simplified, isn’t it? All fans are not the same to say the least. That’s why there’s still a discussion. Certainly, being a fan doesn’t oblige to be creative, in fact it’s the other way round. I reckon for Queen Productions [or every other production company] ideal fans are those who never think and always purchase. Because that’s what the business is all about, to sell every kind of stuff with a label on it. Then, there’re fans who have an opinion. Not like they’re unwelcome but they are a kind of a simple headache. They may refuse to buy things because they don’t like them! That’s not ideal… but what in this life is. Finally, the fans who are creative, they are the enemy. They can put the label name somewhere The Productions can’t charge. That’s really bad! Because things are not produced to become a part of fan culture, or any other kind of culture. They’re produced to be sold. That’s why fan creativity is ruled out: there’s a motive; that’s money. What about you then, the free [and not ideal hence you got oppinions XD] fandom over there? What’s your motive when you rule out creativity? |

I really like to hear creative and produced works from others, so I would say to every mixer keep going and show what they can do. Sadly, the problem is that the forum fan mix section (with all the respect) is full in a 90% of worthless disasters, which made users loose interest on them. That's why that section is a bit dead and you'll only find few interesting songs. That doesn't mean someone has to give up, becuase as you keep on mixing, you will gain experience and knowledge which allows you to create better songs. So keep experimenting and learning till one day you can share something which surprise us all. I don't want to be arrogant or anything like that, but my advice is that a mixer should listen carefully and check if his mix is at least enjoyable to upload and share with other people. The experience is what lets you identify that (I hear some of my first remixes not so good like at that moment). Ask to your close people to hear it and say you if it's good or can be better. Keep on mixing! |

you're not one for taking criticism are you ZZ? the facts are simple: if you make a bad cake - don't expect people to say they enjoy it. they make take a bite, but ultimately, they won't come back for more also - NOT everyone can bake good cakes - which is why we don't force our cakes on others - but our tastebuds still work well enough to know when we've taken a mouthful of turd |

Not sure everybody got the point due to fact my answer to TomP63 started with “I” :-)
The question is not about me, it’s about the adventure. Not all people can bake a good cake but that’s exactly why a collectively created cake at a bonfire party may well become an unforgettable adventure :-) Why do you rule the creativity out of YOUR life?

Keep on mixing! Thanks for your post! Good to hear from somebody who speaks from experience. Sure you’re not arrogant if you want others to invest more in their work; that’s only fair as long as you’ve invested in yours. However, professional sound [or other profession achievement] isn’t really the mission of fan art, a.k.a. deviant art. I’ll clarify this a little because I’d love to hear your opinion about that, too. Deviation, or deviant art, or fan art/fan fiction is a genre of writing/drawing/audio-video mixing/etc that uses images and facts of popular culture giving them a different meaning or context; a self-preservation act in many ways given that the abovementioned facts are, as a rule, shallow and overused [right, The Queen isn’t the example of most shallow stuff around; but it still can compete for the title of being the most overused XD]. Deviant art isn’t meant to help exemplary students grow into exemplary professionals to offer exemplary products and make others exemplary consumers. In short, it’s meant to save souls and spread the attitude :-) I realize you might be quite busy doing other things to answer this and/or this is not your cup of tea at all; but if you have time I’d appreciate you to tell how you rate the queenzone fan mix forum in terms of fan art :-) |

I made some remixes, or if you like some extended mixes Zaza. But my answer to you was merely, if you think that the forum is dead or in some sense dull, why don't you create an offer and let the folks give you some feedback. Nevertheless, my mixes are still on the forum, but I'm no match for the likes as Lord Fickle and PiotreQ. These guys are stunning in there effort, give your ears a chance. Cheers, Tom |

The discussion is still on! TomP63 wrote: Nevertheless, my mixes are still on the forum, but I'm no match for the likes as Lord Fickle and PiotreQ. These guys are stunning in there effort, give your ears a chance. Cheers, TomI kind of listened to a few forum mixes that had good musical quality; it didn’t get as far as your mixes, sorry! I was bored out. Nothing against nice sounding things but there are oceans of them. My list is full already. Don’t get me wrong, proficiency is good for you, but it only matters if you want to [or already do] go pro. What’s the point to keep it amateur for the guys like Lord Fickles, just to demotivate the whole field and then get demotivated, themselves? In forums like these, you form the subculture; so better think again what’s good, what’s bad, and what the motive is :-) What makes people browsing fan art all night long is not its visual, or audio, or whatever form-related qualities. It’s basically its replica deviation quality, the way it reacts to pop culture fact and/or already existing fan subculture. This is what cracks you, drives you, and resurrects you sometimes :-) Fan art is not about me, or you, or whoever posting links with words: “I have made a mix; please tell me if it sounds good!” ‘cause what a normal, healthy response is? Right: “For what fuck should I care sounds it good or not, dear?” It does matter if you have something to say, though. What if you give me a hint, why should I look up them your mixes? Cheers indeed, Zaza :-) |

Well Zaza my hint for you is, browse until you found them. For myself, I'm kinda modest regarding my efforts. I mean, I'm a old school Queen fan, grew up with the band since 1974, so therefor I'm more of an extended guy fan. That's the mean reason I like a mix of Hammer to Fall better than for instance the mix of Pain is close to Pleasure. But I can understand that are enough Queen fans, even the older fans like the latter better than HTF. But I'm drifting of the subject. But the thing which keep making me wonder is, who made all the official remixes of Queen songs, on that matter is less info.... CU, Tom |

Is it too much if I ask for a link, Tom, dear? If you’re asking about the remixes of classical Queen pieces in re-issued albums, then the info sits on the CD cover part where sound engineers are listed. However, it looks like you’re missing the whole fan art point of my choice. I actually went for PisCtP because it gets on my nerve more than HtF. Why to change a piece which you already like the way it is? |

Oops, empty post my bad. Zaza concerning my famixes, maybe I will post them again. But I'm not missing the point you're making. And I wasn't reffering to the last re-issues, there are not that many extended versions or mixed versions on them. And while on the subject, the booklets of the re-issued CD's are not that full of info, I found them rather dull. What I'm trying to point out, I am curious who made the official remixes or extended versions, HFT was merely an example. But the fact remains that there is not much info around who made the official extended versions or remixes.... Cheers, Tom |
Zaza Gabor 27.02.2013 13:18 |
Yeah, well, one thing is clear: if there’s little info then nobody famous is involved :-) Right, if the remix isn’t on a CD it’s really hard to track down its origin. They can be made by literary everyone who needs them for club or radio scene so maybe ask people who are playing them. Like, address the DJ, call the radio station, or PM the person who uploaded the thing on YouTube :-) |
Zaza Gabor 22.03.2013 00:12 |
Back to the topic: hi there! I guess I’ve got the verdict :-) which is, the mixes forum is just as good as it gets due to the fact that you guys don’t discuss any ideas in it; and/or you don’t mix any mix ideas in other forums :-)
So concerning
TomP63 wrote: if you think that the forum is dead or in some sense dull, why don't you create an offer and let the folks give you some feedback.I’d say it’s just very, very quiet and you obviously like it that way [correct me if I’m wrong :-)] so there’s no point to create offers or something. There is no subculture to share ideas or, have some brainstorming, fun, or buzz :-) so what kind of feedback can be expected here? What kind of interest can it arise? I don’t want to be overly demanding; after all, this forum is dedicated to a band that doesn’t exist for more than twenty years. Certainly there are more creative places elsewhere. A bit sad because my very first memories of Queen fans are about pretty much viva la differance and creative crowds but I have to admit. They’ve had time to die out physically. And meanwhile brENsKi wrote: idiot^ at least you've stopped claiming you spelled your nick incorrectly due to copyright (hilarious)aggressive posters who insist they know better how usernames of others should be spelled and what their signatures should be keep spreading collective dullness… ...well, just like I said.
