I made a remix of Bijou that eventually got removed from
Youtube even though i got Brian's approval.
They made it available while waiting decision on if it will be removed or not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U-1wC0GAqY
Sounds like a HORRIBLE idea. But not too far from the way they (piss poor programmers withono rhythmic sensibility) did music in the nineties
I'm glad I've never heard it.
One of my favorite songs.
Cheesus, man.
whats so horrible? i like it and it's a way for people to maybe appreciate Bijou more and listen to it in a different way. i like it and that's why i did it.
It's not bad, though that depends on your tastes. It just ruins the whole feel of the song. It's supposed to sound really mournful, almost empty, and the powerful guitar parts really help build that mood. It's just not at all the same without the guitar parts, as pretty as Freddie's voice is.
That said, I'm really not into this kind of music anyway.
I’m not into house mixes either [I’m kinda natural enemy because I’m into The Grey Album XD]
However, this mix was bearable I have to say. It didn’t bore me away after the first 20 seconds and I listened till the end quite happily. I don’t think I’d ever download it because Freddie in this context sounds horribly enough to me; so shallow compare to the original. Which still might be a step up for regular house crowds XD
However, I might wish to have it if it was an instrumental piece, pretty much beauty put into it [are Brian’s guitar tunes responsible or is it all your credit Vincent?]. Maybe you should think about it if they remove from YouTube the current one [which I doubt]. Like, you might call it My Stolen Bijou as a protest then ;-)

This is a damn perfect description of the album version. Actually, the house mix made me acutely aware what a genius work the album version is. Given the lyrics, the vocal material, they could easily make it sound happy-Valentine’s-day cheep and cheesy. Instead, they filled in so much more. They really proved they had learned something since Hot Space :-) a real bijou now.
Zaza : Cool that you enjoyed it! Actually there is no guitar at all in it.. Here is why i did this mix.
I absolutely LOVE the song Bijou and i think it is so emotional and sad. The thing though i noticed about myself referring the original
is that, even though i love the song , the guitars and everything, i tend to most wanting to hear the little Freddie bit the most cause it's so sad and his voice is just pure gold. So i thought maybe
there are more people that love the Freddie bit but kinda don't listen to it that much cause of it's slow start and what not and maybe forget this lovely song. So i decided that maybe it's time to make an house mix of this gem and give the shallow house people something with real emotions instead. I also did my own little piece at the end of the song, just to pay tribute to Freddie.
I showed this to Brian and he liked it but was alittle dissapointed that all the guitar parts was all cut out. That was because those bits could not be made into an beat , the Freddie bit was
much more suitable and even that bit was hard to piece up together inline with Freddies vocals but i think i managed quite well :)
What i don't understand is why they try to take it down from Youtube especially since there are lots of Queen mixes out there that are up and running just fine, yet i do THE ONLY mix out there
of Bijou in the world, and make no profit of it and actually asked Brian for his approval, still they try to take it down. So i don't know, it's just weird.
I've never really understood YouTube logics when it's about disabling/deleting acconts and stuff. Like, there are 10 channels that content identic unauthorised material. one of them is deleted, and that should mean they care for copyrights. Good thing you got ensured and asked for Brian's approval!
Yea i don't understand it either. There are tons of people putting out songs which are not theirs yet they remain on there..
Well even though i asked for Brians approval , it still is not certain that it will remain online, it's approval is pending. It was issued by Queen Productions which is weird.
I made this for others to hopefully enjoy so i hope it doesn't get removed , if so i hope people download it and spread it :)

I understand the thinking there, although I disagree. I like the guitar parts and vocal part equally, so it's really not at all the same with just the vocal part. That's just me, though. I assume some people did enjoy it more than me, so that's fine.
Good to know Brian liked it.
Not bad, actually! An interesting concept for a mix there, this certainly sounds better than most anything from Queen Dance Traxx! Heck, sounds a lot better than any Treasure Moment/Tranqvillia shit!
However I have a nitpick, and that is at 1:50 the vocal timing could have been much better, and ditto at 3:11
The timing of the vocal where you pointed out couldn't have been in another way. Thing is that the original Freddie bit was not in beat and the melody i made of it is in beat. On top of that, every Freddie piece offcourse had the backround synths of the original in it which also ,made it even harder to mix with the dance beat (cause if you cut in the vocals the wrong way, the original synth notes from bijou collide with the dance melody version of it.) Actually im quite satisfied with the result, cause it was not an easy task to make Bijou into an dance song and im happy to apperantly be the only one that has done a dance version, let alone a remix at all:)
But i think it's cool that you think it's one of the better Queen dance tracks!
I think the main reason for that is that Bijou wasn't really written with an upbeat dance in mind. For me at least, the atmosphere of the song and lyrics completely conflicts with this style of music.

I would try time-streching vocals to the beat ;-)
I don't think the current mix needs it badly but in general, there's an option to time-stretch things to the beat :-)
