Hi guys,
I hope that some expert can help me on this. I have been searching for hours and hours and can't get this sorted out by myself.
I have a Realtek HD sound card on my Acer laptop. It has the "sound effects" tabs and it actually works smoothly. But I can only apply the those effects (reverb, etc) while playing sounds (ie. YouTube videos, etc). The problem is that when I plug in my microphone, the effects won't work on that source: it will sound dry & clean.
Does anyone know how can I apply those sound effects to the mic? There is no option to trigger that.
Many thanks in advance!
It's not unlikely that you can't - the input and output channels of a sound card are completely separate, and it sounds like the effects you mention are part of the output channel. This makes sense, as you would normally record any signal as 'clean' as possible, and use effects on it later on. I would recommend processing your recordings with the desired effects in a program like Audacity.
Thanks for the response, TQ. :-) I understand what you say, and it makes a lot of sense. However I needed the reverb to be in real time (and not added later) because I needed it for streaming purposes, not recording. I used to use it a lot with my Creative Sound Blaster in the late 90's / early 00's, but I seem not to be able to with the Realtek HD Audio Manager. :-(
You can probably find a VST plugin that'll do the job, but you'd have to live with a few milliseconds latency in that case. With a reverb, that shouldn't be a major problem, but it will mean you need to set it up very carefully.
