One night of Queen performed by Gary Mullen and the Works 2013-01-23 Mozartsaal Rosengarten Mannheim Germany Love it or hate it - take it or leave it. I've never been a friend of Queen cover music. Though I know recordings of former performances of GM I was simply impressed by this so I'd like to share it - complete - lossless - not a re-release - no Adam Lambert - just good music! If you don't like it, don't let me know. Interesting recording! Very big sound to it. Good performance so far from what I'm hearing. However it sounds a bit muffled around the high end, and has a swishy lossy sound. Was there any hiss removal or post-processing done to this? |
thefallenqueen 01.02.2013 05:52 |
Indeed! Sound was not very loud this evening and I did the recording without my preamp so I had to add some dB gain in post processing followed by some slight hiss reduction. Didn't expect to need a preamp in the 9th row :-) and did not intend to share it but the show was really great and there are not too much GM recordings out there so I changed my mind. |

Dear Fallen Queen: I am the President of the Gary Mullen and The Works International Fan Club and I have alerted Gary Mullen about this bootleg posting. On behalf of Gary Mullen, he requests that this bootleg recording be removed immediately from this site. You have copyright infringed upon his show material and did not have permission to do this recording. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. |

freddie929 we can't delete our own posts, to have this torrent removed you will have to PM YourValentine and explain that The Works don't want their stuff shared here, then wait until she deletes it. |

I would take his post with a very fine grain of salt, emrabt. Considering the trolling we've had as of lately, I wouldn't take stock in his post until he can provide absolute proof of his position. |

Hello Mr. President, sorry for posting this bootleg which is a great publicity for Gary's work (and Works of course). At least for the musical aspect. ...Mobbing and insulting the audience was not Freddie's style. Well apart from the Caracas gig :-) . Anyway, if you want this post removed please contact the moderator of this site, this is out of my authority! |

Mr. President, is it just your angle or is it Gary who is unhappy with the share of this recording? Interesting point of view for someone who's making money with other artist's music, don't you think? Please let me know if it's part of the show that Gary insults people in the front row as "bitch"? Is this the reason why you want it to disappear? |
inu-liger 04.02.2013 15:51 |
Would be probably more professional to hear from Gary himself or at least his management rather than a fan club rep. Last time I checked, Jacky Smith from the official fan club never intervenes in any of our uploads. QPL's lawyers do on the rare occasion however. |
A Word In Your Ear 04.02.2013 16:07 |
If I were Mr Mullen, I would be glad for this bootleg to appear. I mean there are so many Queen fans sitting on the fence regarding Tribute acts (myself included a few years back) who have the mindset of saying "F**k that, why would I want to go and a see a crappy imitation tribute act, it's not Queen, just one of many Queen Tributes acts that are milking the Queen Cash Cow". Well to be honest, I thought that way myself (well maybe not quite so harsh words) but since the first time that I got dragged to see Gary Mullen & The Works by my friend, I was hooked. I came out after having one of the best bloody Queen related nights in my life & since then have not missed a UK tour. Bought the DVD & CDs & can't see myself ever stopping going to see them. We don't have Freddie anymore, but Mr. Mullen (in my Opinion) is the nearest sounding vocalist, to Freddie's Voice, than out of all of the Queen tribute acts & he Deserved to win "Stars In Your Eyes" all those years ago. Personally, the more people that hear Gary's work, might generate more people to go and see him...Just a thought!!! + there are so many "Queen" boots that get shared on here, that "Queen Productions" tend to Turn a blind eye to, as long as no monies are changing hands, so why would Gary (or you) want this recording removed? After all, with this boot, he's getting FREE promotion. |
inu-liger 04.02.2013 17:54 |
He has a pretty strong point. VERY few tribute acts out there can do minimal justice to Queen and especially Freddie Mercury. As the saying goes, there's no such thing as bad press. Gary is getting free promotion here, particularly from people that have attended these shows and are plugging it of their own accord! |

freddie929 wrote: You have copyright infringed upon his show material and did not have permission to do this recording.Hilarious. Unless royalties are being paid to Queen Productions and their record label for every performance, technically Gary is making a career off of copyright infringement. But like most bands, QP doesn't care - every time he performs, people will go out and buy Queen's records. Everyone's happy. The recording is out there. There are thousands of music websites and blogs. Music spreads faster than syphilis these days. Hundreds, if not thousands of people are going to hear this recording and may end up seeing a show as a result. Tribute acts need all the promo they can get. Gary should be grateful that people take the time to tape his gigs and essentially do free promo for him. If this request of yours is indeed because of the insults he hurled - well, that's his own fault. As a professional you need to have thick skin, remembering at all times that someone in the audience could be recording at any moment and posting it on youtube on their way home. Just ask Michael Richards how that worked out for him. |

Hahahaha This is hilarious Copyright for fox ache. Makes a killing Ripping Off queen, then complains about a torrent. hahahaha Twat |
OwenSmith 08.02.2013 05:58 |
I'd never even heard of Gary Mullen until this thread, so it's working as publicity. Having said that, the sour attitude to the bootleg wanting to get it pulled is acting as negative publicity to me. If the band is like that why should I pay to see them? Queen were a bit down on tapers in the concerts (more so than many other bands) but haven't generally bothered about the bootlegs afterwards. Besides, it's out there now. Even if this article is pulled the bootleg will continue to circulate. Torrents don't need a central site, just some seeders. |

Nice one! Have always enjoyed Gary Mullen. I think he's the best in the business when it comes to the voice. Been to one of his shows and really enjoyed it. He still sometimes struggle with the accent, but have improved over the years. His version of Barcelona.....well, just use youtube and see for yourself. Smokin! Will download it when i get back home, so thanks for sharing this! |
Zodiacal_light 09.02.2013 07:39 |
Also PLEASE PLEASE someone who knows him tell him to quit with the stupid "Come on" and " Give it to me" etc etc about 20 times per song. Freddie did this maybe half a dozen times per concert, NOT per fckng song.!!! |
inu-liger 09.02.2013 17:53 |
This seems to be a problem with most Queen tribute bands' Freddies, the singers almost always exaggerate these kind of stereotypes of Freddie, and mostly stereotypes taken from his 80's persona at that! Soooooooo annoying!! |

To the person masquerading as Kelly Franko - beat it! I actually know Gary - although it has been quite a while since I've seen him outwith a show - and I KNOW he ACTIVELY encourages people to take video, sound etc from his shows. He often poses particularly for footage, and I've even seen instances where he's taken the camera off the person recording and did a little recording himself. He even uses such footage for his OWN website. As it's been said already, there cannot be a copyright infringement as Gary is a tribute, making his living from someone else's material. Anyway, don't know why I'm talking to you - I know full well you ain't kelly, as I've had dealings with her also, and this is definitely NOT her style. Needless to say, the torrent is still intact. |
