I don’t Hate Sacha Baron Cohen
Contrary to probable perception, I don’t hate Sacha Baron Cohen as a person or as a comedy persona.
The reason for my opposition to him playing Freddie Mercury in his biopic, primarily is simply based upon the truth that he cannot act.
The Movie industry knows damn well, Sacha is a very unique talent, they know full well that his peculiar talents are not grounded in what is known as dramatic comedy acting.
This has recently been proven again when he attempted to act in and script a conventional dramatic comedy movie, The Dictator. Universally it was conceded that both his writing skills and his acting skills are not suited to scripted dramatic fictional comedy, because he never really has acted or thought in the realm of fictional comedy, his mind and his acting always being based and grounded in reality comedy,
real world satire and mock interview in style bouncing his satirical humor off real people (non actors).
Another reason I know Cohen is not right for the part of Freddie Mercury, and is indeed the most horrible and unbelievably bad choice for the prized role, is because he has no physical grace.
Even when he was younger and at least had the skin, the youth to possibly play Freddie, (if he could act that is- which as i have explained, he cannot) even then he had not the physical grace and poise and style, he does not and cannot hold himself properly.
Contrast that, to the images of Jeremy Kapone in the stills of him a few posts below, in the short film he has done. He is dapper, holds himself in a similar style to Mercury and carries his self with a theatrical poise that Cohen lacks. This tells me , Jeremy has the physical self awareness to perfect Freddie’s varying styles of movement, both on stage and off, and Sacha does not.
What has Sacha shown he has got?
a mustache and the ability to look funny in a mankini and that is it. (Freddie never dressed to be laughed at by the way, so even that does not count.)
The industry knows this is all true, and not one critic , no one except me has said it because of money and the acceptable way they speak of their fellows, why i have no stake except Freddie’s honor so i will say it.
As for the public they do not think beyond the smoke and mirrors of the magic of cinema, but it takes talent to create that magic, or there isn’t any . Sacha has no talent fit for the table and so cannot add anything except his Box Office name, which is the disgrace I realize, Yes that it is all about money and a successful box office name. A mustache who cannot act, sing, move, or even speak a line believably, would never get the go ahead from Freddie himself.
Anyone who disagrees with me will not be taken seriously. link
Please clarify... is that LIKE or LICK?
we may have something in common
Does the uncertainty imply that only one of those things is true for you? Either you like them but don't lick them, or you're for some reason made to (or choosing to) lick them even though you're not much of a fan.
