The answer is... Queen... my lp says just "Queen"... people (even Brian May) say Queen I cause there's a Queen II, but without a dubout the title is Queen... How many times i said Queen?
The first album is actually called "The Fantastical Adventures of Four Musicians, The Singer Is A bit Gay-ish, But The Jury Is Still Out On It" It's all there on the cover in small print, you just need to cross your eyes and stare at the cover for 3 hours through a magnifying glass to see it. The first time I tried I went into a catatonic state after two hours, but I got it the second try. Pro-tip keep some paracetamol close, just in case.
Hope this helps to clear the confusion.

After Queen II was released, the name of the album was unofficially retconned to Queen I in order to clarify. Same thing happened with Led Zeppelin, and with film sagas, etc.
"queen" was only the working title. unfortunately, the LP covers had already been printed BEFORE the mistake was noticed.
the official title of Queen's debut album was intended to be; "Donna Summer's Greatest Hits"
I think part of the reason people say "Queen I" is not be because of Queen II, but to avoid confusion (i.e., are you talking about the album or the band as a whole?). For the same reason, Led Zep's debut is sometimes called Led Zep I, and the albums by The Beatles and Metallica are referred to as The White Album and The Black Album.
Alexrocks............not one of our favorite posters here....but a good question.
Hopefully, you will take heart in the responses by so many who referenced LedZep.
What no one mentions.......had Queen not released a second album called 'Queen II'....there would not be much of a discussion.
Led Zeppelin ........is on the web as 'Led Zeppeilin I'.
After all..one does not have to ask if it is 'Boston I' ....or 'Boston'....because their second album was not Boston II.

while you're doing so well with this... can explain why BOTH Chickenfoot's and Travelling Wilbury's second albums were called Chickenfoot III and Travelling Wilbury's vol 3

I think it had to do with the fact that a pirate compilation of rare songs and demos by the Wilburys had been around for a while and the fans considered it like their second album. The band was aware of that and so they named their second album "vol 3"
I think I saw that somewhere, I'm not entirely sure but yeah, something like that.
Marknow! You are absolutely right! WOW! I thought it might have been called "Black Sabbath"! But now I know better! Thanks!
Otherwise how about refering to it as "Their self titled studio l.p."? Or even "Their first self titled studio l.p."?
Of course in the case with "Led Zeppelin I" being specified that way if they did not keep naming products "Led Zeppelin" such as the 1990 box set and 2003 d.v.d. anthology then there were not need to be such as distinction.
One that I have seen debate on is the 1979 live album;
i think it is called 'Live Killers' as we refer to it, and as official listings etc call it, but I have also heard several people argue that it is actually just called 'Killers', with the 'live' bit bring purely an extra addendum after the band name to clarify that it is not a studio album!
Eg; version 1: Queen: 'Live Killers'
Version 2: Queen (live): 'Killers'

You could make a good argument for the 'live' bit not being intended as part of the title. It's in an entirely different font than 'Queen' and 'Killers' on the cover. Plus it just sounds nicer as a title than 'Live Killers'.
i disagree with that theory re: live killers
since it's clearly a bit of a "fun" an oxymoron/paradox cum play on words
for "live killers"
is much like "jumbo shrimp" "beginning of the end" "open secret""act naturally""alone together" "Hell's Angels" "found missing""liquid gas" "deafening silence""seriously funny" "living dead"
"even odds" "minor crisis"

You're right, that has to be intentional. Went right over my head too
