A very very irritating QZ-er called Rocknrolllover, aka FMJDRTBM, has posted on QZ the following silliness... "They promised us a compilation of two concerts at the Rainbow Theatre, but it turned out that part of the tapes was stolen and therefore we will see the same version as 1992 in Box of Tricks box-set" May I please emphatically assure all Queen fans that NO tapes have been stolen, and that this guy is talking his usual made up crap. This is just the latest invention he's dreamed up for yet more attention. This is the Russian chap called Anton who was recently taken off QZ, under another of his guises, FMJDRTBM (or similar to that) because of his abusive and nasty behaviour (and death threats) - which, quite rightly, was regarded as intolerable. This guy is a compulsive liar/bullshitter - as you all know. Do not believe anything this person says. I have said no such thing to him, nor to anyone else, on email or any other way. Stolen Rainbow tapes... UTTER RUBBISH!!!! All is well with Rainbow tapes, and all other tapes. And the Rainbow project is shaping up EXTREMELY well. We are all very excited by it, and you'll love it I'm sure. Not least, it will sound truly amazing!!! Regards GB |

Thanks for the post Greg, none of us take any notice of that pleb anyway. Can you give us any info regarding video format? I know and respect the fact that cannot go into too much detail, but you might be able to answer this. I have heard some unofficial mention of Blu_ray format which would be a surprise, I thought DVD would be the only possible format. Also I have mentioned Aspect Ratio in another thread and am curious about what the intentions are. Is it going to be cropped to 16:9 from what I presume is a natural aspect ratio of 4:3? Going a bit far here, sorry. Is it technically possible to produce a DVD or BR with both aspect ratios? Kind of like the dual audio stream, LPCM and Dolby Surround. Can a DVD/BR be produced to naturally play the cropped 16:9 which is all the rage these days, but also have an option to play the 4:3 collectors edition on one Disk. Not sure of the technical possibilities, but wouldn't that be a great way to produce video releases going forward.? Thanks. Mark Bowles. Obviously any informed opinions from my fellow forum members is most welcome. Pardon my ignorance if I'm in cloud cuckoo land. |

It's not possible to answer that until we cover every single inch of what's there. But rest assured, the points you mention will not have been overlooked. Also, as you rightly observe, at the point at which we do know what formats will happen, and what general form the package will take, it wouldn't be my business to disclose it. That's the job of the publicist and the band. But rest assured, the points you mention will not have been overlooked.Cheers Greg - it's good to know that these sort of details will be considered this time around. Others here with greater technical knowledge on these matters than I have aired grievances over how the Greatest Video Hits DVDs had picture formats messed with to the detriment of the videos. Not only that, but the 4:3 to 16:9 conversion was actually used as a positive selling point, when in reality it apparently degraded to picture quality and cropped the picture? Equally, a lot of debate has been had regarding PAL to NTSC conversion for recent releases being detrimental to picture quality, especially when the sole reason for doing so is most likely purely financial. This isn't a 'pop' at you by any means, but simply adding to the previous post with a couple more considerations to put forward and consider when decisions are being made for this much anticipated release. Cheers! |

Don't understand why were are getting an edit of both nights though, especially after we got both nights in full of Wembley 86. Sure, cut out the bit where the power goes down (or whatever the issue was), they started "Liar" from afresh afterwards anyway, so why not give us a 2 disc set with both nights? |

Rhys Thomas said that one of night in bad audio quality and that's why they make a compilation. Only Brooks can answer on this question, I think |
